 History
Ecco started in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy, an entrepreneurial spirit who sold his house & car to start the company. His vision was to make the most comfortable walking shoes in the world!

Entered US market in 91, company of the Year 94. Annual world sales over 8 million prs.
 Philosophy
Not the Biggest but the Best. Fully control all processes from raw hide to retail for top quality. Our #1 strategy is putting shoes on feet more effective than advertising.
Why Ecco is the best shoe THE FIT: European last fits snug in instep & heel, very roomy up front, allowing freedom of movement & circulation in toes -- more closely resembles foot shape -- Europeans have 2/3 less foot problems than US. Always pre-sell and explain the fit to customer before fitting. Design/Components: Soft, hand crafted, full-grain or nubuck uppers. NO stiff midsoles or shanks = flexibility. The foot controls the shoe instead of the shoe controlling the foot! Insoles: Comfort Fiber System Vegetable tanned leather against feet, no irritation. Soft 100% memory foam that absorbs perspiration, antibacterial treated to fight odors, remove to dry. New Washable Insoles: soft, more absorbent, antibacterial, breathable. Outsoles: PU-Polyurethane - Ecco has perfected the art of combining superior durability w/ incredible flexibility. Liquid PU is pressure injected into molds to directly attach to upper using no glue or stitching, forming a water tight bond. Dual Density (2 layers, 2 colors) give best of both worlds: soft cushioning against the foot, harder durability against street/trail. Latex on some fashion styles is natural rubber, also very durable, flexible, shock absorbing. DYNAMIC ENERGY CONCEPT: Plugs in heels, also called shock absorbers, give trampoline effect to evenly distribute weight. This adds to 100% memory of PU, which bounces back to original shape like a superball, and returns energy to the body. GORE-TEX: A 100% waterproof membrane inside select group of boots and shoes (Gore-Tex logo on these items). Like human skin it breaths and lets off perspiration, yet wont let water in. Can be used in warm or cold weather.
 Additional Notes
Ecco is part of elite group of shoe companies (less than 3%) that controls the entire manufacturing process from start to finish to ensure the best quality!
Primary factories are in Denmark & Portugal, but all molds, equipment & standards are the same in all Ecco factories.
Ecco has the Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Assoc.
Shoe Care: Smooth leathers, clean w/ mild soap and damp cloth, condition and polish as needed. Nubucks: 3 coats of protective spray, then clean w/ nubuck or suede cleaners.

Adorable, stylish shoe that my daughter wears with a school uniform. Very disappointed with the wear on the shoe. The shiny "patent" leather began flaking off after 10 weeks. For the cost, I thought the shoe would have better durability. I was wrong. Would buy the shoe again only if found discounted at a store like Nordstrom Rack or T.J. Maxx.

My son and I are very happy with this sandal. It is very comfortable, the foot is surrounded by soft leather. The enclosed heel gives stability. We keep ordering this model in increasing sizes for his growing feet, he his currently wearing his third pair.

It has been a pleasure buying my twin grandchildren shoes from Zappos. I will be honest to say the toddlers have not had the opportunity to wear the Ecco Kids Snowball boot, but they tried them on and fit just beautifully. The boot is quality with a very good give to hand, bends nicely. Weather in NY has not been that cold as yet.

My son loves these boots! They keep his feet dry on rainy days (most days here in the Fall and Winter) and are comfy enough to run around at recess with no problem. The sizing is good and the boots look great and are easy to put on and take off.

My daughter and I love these boots! They are not a chunky winter boot and that's what makes them perfect for everyday use. The Gore-Tex fabric keeps her feet nice and dry during our Canadian winters! Just to mention, this is the third year in a row that she's wearing these boots; a new size per year of course.

I bought these for my 2nd grader who has to wear black leather shoes to Catholic school. I winced at the cost, but I think they are worth the extra money for durability and comfort. After two months of pretty hard wear, including recess, PE and pick-up football games, the Ecco shoes are in fine shape - just clean and polish once in awhile. They are my son's favorite shoes, which is odd for a 2nd grade boy. He wears them voluntarily to non-school occasions like church - so they must be comfortable!

My four year old loves these shoes. She has been wearing them every day to preschool, playing at playground with sand for the past four months and they still look great. What I love most about it is the heal and ankle support. It keeps her feet in right angle. Very easy to put and take off. She has the silver color, and receives a lot of complements. Great service Zappos, thank you!

Reviewer:Anonymous Overall Rating:
I just recently purchased the Ecco Kids Hope shoes for my daughter's new school year. We love these shoes. They are very comfortable for her to run and play in. The material moves with her foot movement and they allow her feet to "breathe" so that they don't become overly sweaty. My child has a flat, wide foot, and it is often hard to find shoes, at regular stores, that fit her foot. When I was buying her regular tennis shoes or mary jane style shoes, she would constantly complain about them hurting her feet and that her feet were hot. Since I discovered Ecco kids shoes I have never purchased a different brand of shoes than Ecco for my child. Every year we buy Ecco shoes for school, and I will continue to purchase them because they are by far the most comfortable shoe we have ever found. They also last a very long time. My daughter wears her Ecco shoes every single day at school and play, and they really last. The reason we have to buy new shoes is because her foot grows, not because the shoes get "messed up." In fact we give her too small Ecco shoes to our neighbor's daughter, who is then able to wear them for her school year. These shoes really last. We love Ecco shoes and we would never buy another brand. Thank you Ecco for making such great children's shoes.

My son needed plain black shoes to wear as part of his school uniform every day. We were looking for something with both style and comfort, and these turned out to be perfect. My son loves them and finds them to be very comfortable.

Beware for cold climates, have a mesh top. The shoes are great, but we live in Michigan, and these were not suitable as a "back to school" shoe for our climate. They would be more suited to a more moderate climate. Please inform the consumer that the top is made of a breathable mesh!

It took my husband and I a long time to find summer shoes for our twins. We were new to shopping for baby shoes, and made a few mistakes before finding these Eccos. We've loved them. Our girls have seemed very comfortable in them from the very first. Good quality, they still look good after some hard wearing, and go with everything. Highly recommended!
