Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England, The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products, including childrens boots and shoes, have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of Americas Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture, and has been brought down to youth sizes. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally and enjoys strong sales in the United States, Europe and Japan. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Frye's." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots. Frye continues to manufacture quality boots for infants, toddlers and children, allowing you to outfit your entire family in the Frye tradition.
Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye has been known for more than 100 Years.

Very cute -
I just got a pair of this for myself in size 2.5 (youth) and brown color, since I basically wear women 4.5 or 5. I was worried if it was gonna be too small, but it turned out to be perfect - not too small, not too large. The leather is super soft and the color is pretty, plus the style is very classy. I haven't worn this outside yet, so I'm gonna wear it tomorrow and see how comfortable it can be.

Zappos has great customer service. This boot actually has about a 6" shaft. The total height from floor to top is 8". It is sized a little larger so you can wear a heavier sock. The only negative thing is the sole leaves black scuff marks on the floor.

Frye Lil Harness boot,
I bought these for myself, I'm a woman with a shoe size of 5 and the size 3 youth fit perfectly. Frye does not make a woman's size 5. I was disappointed at first having to buy the kids size but I'm glad now because they are EXTREMELY comfortable! Wow, I couldn't believe it; it felt as if I were wearing a slipper, there is serious cushioning on the inside. In the past I ordered the women's size 5.5 and of course they were huge but also very uncomfortable, hard as a rock inside, no cushioning whatsoever. I guess they make the kids comfortable so they don't complain. The color tan is beautiful, a sort of distressed leather. My only complaint is that I wish the square toe were a bit narrower, more elegant. But very happy. So if you're a size 5, the youth 3 will be perfect.

Fantastic!
My daughter tells me that these are her most comfortable boots. They're stylish and very well made. Didn't like the pink boots because color was very strange. We'll keep the brown. They accommodate my daughter's high instep.

Very cute!
I replaced my daughter's pink Bass boots with the pink Frye's and she loves them. It was tough for her to face that she'd grown out of her other ones but when these arrived, the switch was easy. Now her toes are not cramped. These are great for kids with a wide-ish foot because the toe is rounded.

Great little boot.
I ordered these for my eight-year-old granddaughter and she was thrilled with them. She said they were super comfortable and her mom was happy with the style and the color. Granddaughter loved the blue color - said they looked great with everything.

Grandson loved these boots!
These were a Christmas gift for my seven year old grandson. He was extremely happy with them and thought that they looked like "Indiana Jones" boots. They are very nice looking...high quality. The only true reference that I have for comfort is that he didn't take them off the whole time that they visited. He wouldn't part with them.

Terrific boot -
This is one of the most comfortable boots right from the start. I got these boots for myself and love them. Got black and liked them so much, got the brown. The color is a light brown - tan, which rounds out my boot collection because the womens boots I own are much darker brown. They seem really flat when you first put them on and once you get over the surprise, this is one of the things that make them so comfortable. Would recommend to all with a small size boot.

My secret - I got these for myself -
I have a small size 5 foot and the womens style shoe in this model was rated as large so I figured I would give this a try in a 3.5. It worked out wonderful; the color is great and looks good under jeans and docker type pants. The size is just right and no break in is needed, they were comfortable on first wearing. The only thing that is just slightly disappointing is the one inch heel, but that makes sense as they are intended for children. this is a great shoe and less then half the price of the same womens shoe.

Great boys boots for your little biker -
I bought a pair of these boots for my 12 year old son a few months back, and have been extremely impressed. He's small for his age and still takes kids' size 4, so it can be hard to find footwear that he considers "cool", but he loves these and they have become his favorite boots! He tells me they are comfortable, although they do need careful breaking-in (see later). They need a polish out of the box, after which their appearance is also impressive - when worn under blue jeans, the plain look is preppy and somehow more grown-up than his cowboy boots with the pointed toes and fancy stitching (although they don't look as cute!). More importantly, the grippy rubber sole keeps him on his feet while the lower heel and square toe make them much more practical for running, playing, climbing and all the other things boys do to their clothes! Yes, these have been really put to the test. Which brings me onto the best thing about these boots, the quality of the leather is first-rate - waterproof, scuff-resistant and a quick polish brings them up like new. Nor have they suffered any rubbing from his jeans (unlike some of his boots), or any real wear to the tough rubber sole and heel. In fact, the only thing I can fault with them is that they need careful breaking-in - my son didn't do this, and the tops rubbed his legs badly for the first week or so.
Overall, then, a great day-to-day product - your boy will like them because they look cool, and you'll like them because they're tough and look neat. Just make sure he breaks them in at home first, not halfway round a shopping mall as poor kiddo here did!
This has been my son's first experience with Frye kids boots, but I'll definitely be looking to the company for his next pair of cowboy boots as well...

I have a small foot; size 4 1/2 women's & bought the youth size 2 1/2 Frye Harness Pull On & they fit great! For a children's shoe, these actually can pass as an adult shoe look wise. The only exception is the rubber heel; I believe the adult shoe has a wooden heel. They look great and the squared off toe instead of the round on the Frye Engineer looks a little more adult/maybe even a little cowboy. For women with small feet, this is a blessing!

 | | I need to start this email out by saying Thank You. It is almost an anomaly to receive fair customer service in today's world, but to have a phenomenal experience is almost unheard of. I must share my experience with one of your telephone customer service representatives. With my mom's birthday quickly approaching, I decided that I would attempt to get her a bracelet I came across in a style magazine. After contacting the manufacturer, I was disheartened to hear that they had already sold out of the item. After some internet searching, I discovered that the item was still available at Zappos.com. With only 2 days to spare, I called the 800 number and reached a representative who took my order over the phone. After placing the order, she gave me my total and started to conclude the phone call. I realized at that point that the total she gave to me did not include shipping and I asked her how much the shipping would add. She then explained that she was not charging for shipping and that the overnight service would be at no charge. In my mind I wondered how this could be? I asked her if there was some type of special going on for free shipping. Her response was "NO, you're just special". This small random act of kindness was so touching, I felt compelled to explain my situation... "My mom's birthday is just a couple of days away and I needed to have this bracelet as soon as possible. You have just made my day. This bracelet sold out at the manufacturer because it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and 50% of the proceeds go to research. I want you to know that you have done something so very special for me". She then shared her experiences with her own mom being diagnosed with Breast Cancer and how it actually saved her life. She shared a few intimate details of her moms survival and at that point I was in full tears. I explained that I too am battling Breast Cancer right now at only 37 and that her random act of kindness had truly touched me. With chemo leaving me no energy to shop, it was imperative that I have something to give my mom. A mom who has been there for me every step of the way. I could not thank this representative enough for her kindness, empathy, and compassion. The next day I had chemo and work called to tell me I got a flower delivery. Beautiful pink roses. The card... "Our thoughts and prayers are with you. From your Zappos.com Family". I am in tears just writing this email and I want to make sure that this lady not go unrecognized for the difference she made in my life. This is a phone call that I will never forget. And when I am done with treatment and can finally say that I am a Breast Cancer survivor, it is people like this who I will most remember for giving me the strength to fight another day.
