Harrison Trask was first inspired to incorporate Bison leather as a material for footwear while he was fly fishing near his home in Montana. Standing knee deep in frigid water, Mr. Trask noticed a large herd of buffalo grazing along the bank. It struck him that he had never heard of anyone using buffalo leather to create a shoe. Thus, H.S. Trask & Co. was born.

He loves them!
My husband ripped a tendon in the bottom of his foot and has been in pain for several months. This prompted me to seek out some comfortable boots for him. I came upon these boots that seem to be rugged yet stylish. He normally wears a 10 1/2, so that is what I ordered, but they were too tight. So I returned them and ordered a new pair at 6:30 at night. I had the size 11s in my hands at 11:00am the next day. I love Zappos. He loves them! He walked in them for an hour and his pain has quickly subsided, he says, due to the great arch support. He said they just might be the most comfortable boots he has ever worn. Another win for me and Zappos!

Great shoe -
This pair of shoes looked every bit as good as the picture. I am very impressed with the way they feel on. They needed no break-in period and were most comfortable from day one. I will continue to wear Trask shoes in the future. I received the shoes the day after I ordered them and was pleasantly surprised how quick the shipping was. I am truly impressed with Zappos and will use you in the future.

The new version of the Gallatin is definitely not like the original. I've owned 8 pairs of this model from Trask over the past several years. It's now clunky looking, and I couldn't get it B width anymore. Too bad, it was a very versatile shoe with good lines. Now, it reminds me of the old Rockports that you see in retirement communities.

Satisfied, but not thrilled -
The shoe is fairly comfortable to wear without socks, but the size is way off. The size 11 is much smaller than a Timberland 10.5. The shoe has a fairly straight last, so it's a bit snug on the side of the big toe.

I got these shoes for my husband for a bday present. He LOVES them! First of all, the look of the shoes is sporty enough for casual and luxurious enough for dress up. The fit is fantastic. While my husband did say the first few days of wear that they hurt his heel, after that week he's only praised about how comfortable they are and how he's only going to buy HS Trask Guide shoes. That's says a lot coming from a guy who's "not into shoes." I'm thrilled he loves them!

Great shoe exceeds my expectation.
I was skeptical about the half size larger recommendation at first. The shoe was on a 10% discount and I postponed ordering while trying to decide on the size issue. I finally decided to go with the half size increase. I was too late for the discount however I agree with the larger size. The shoe has a full slightly padded lining, so the half size increase is appropriate.

Very comfortable shoe -
After reading the reviews I ordered 1 size larger than I normally wear and viola, it fit. The shoe is soft, very comfortable, and I like the way it looks. I am a "D" width and the shoe was a "D" width. I'm a happy camper. I ordered over the phone and since I had a history with Zappos, the shoes were shipped "next day". I ordered them at 7PM eastern time and they were at my house at 12PM the next day, wow. The shoes are what I wanted and customer service is incredibly good.

Good Old Fashioned Style & Quality -
I wore work boots all my life and now I'm retired and these are the most comfortable shoes in a style that I'm used to. Would have preferred less aggressive soles though.
Hard to find shoe and Zappos delivered the next day and free shipping to boot! I can't wait until I need to buy another pair of shoes so that I can deal with Zappos.

These lived up to my expectations -
I've worn these every day since they arrived. They were a perfect fit (size 10) and I've gotten lots of compliments (even from my ex-wife, who asked me where I got them). They look especially good with jeans and khakis. I would buy another pair of these without hesitation. They are handsome shoes/boots.

Well made, great lines and high quality. It did not fit. 14 was at least a 1/2 size too small and the width was narrower than other brands. If you like the shoe go a little bigger all around.

Bought these at another site because I found them on sale. However, as a semi-regular Zappos customer, I feel compelled to express my disappointment with this sandal. The upper of one sandal was tighter than the other and the upper makes the sandal fit narrowly (I have wide feet). While the footbed is contoured and comfy, the underside of the upper is finished in vinyl - very cheesy. These also feel very light for the amount of leather used in their construction. They also look cheaper in person than the price would lead you to expect. I have a pair of Clarks that are also stylish and seem to be higher quality for a little over half the money. I would not purchase this sandal again.

Not a good value for the price -
I bought these shoes because they have a Vibram outsole (which are commonly found on higher priced hiking boots). They absorb shock well, good traction, and are comfortable on the heels. However, outsole aside, the quality of the shoe did not seem worth the high price tag. After a few hours of wearing around the house, the leather already began to wear and crease, and seemed a bit stiff (with no leather lining like Havana Joe's have). Furthermore, the outsole is not properly matched to the upper, and sticks out too far, making your feet look bigger than they are. This could be good for people with small feet, but not for people with large feet. The shoe is not proportioned well. And the stitching is not the greatest quality. In any case, I returned these shoes and bought a pair of Dr. Scholl's instead, for about 1/3 the price. The Dr. Scholl's are a bit more sophisticated and refined, as are the Havana Joe's. Nonetheless, I would still buy these over Skechers, Timberlands, or Dr. Martens.

Quality Extreme -
These boots are totally awesome. The quality of the leather, workmanship, and fit are worth every penny paid. No kidding, they're dead on, size-wise and felt like gloves for my feet the first time I put them on. For such a sturdy feel, they're very lightweight. I'm buying another pair immediately.

Finally, a stylish and comfortable boat shoe -
After many tries (including Rockport, Tommy Bahama, Sperry, etc.) I finally found the best size 14 boat shoe, an HS Trask Big Sky 2 Eye. Fit is excellent, with extra support, and style is excellent.
Along with Zappos' 2day free shipping...What a deal.

Looks great, beautiful construction. Fit is snug, you might want to go a 1/2 size bigger. It’s a little stiff in ankle area but that probably will lessen with time. Great shoe!

H S Trask Black Chukka -
Ordered without seeing or ever trying on, I own several different shoes from HST, as the others this 9.5 is true to size. Good looking boot (complete black is hard to find) very light weight, easy to get on & off, high quality leather finish. Not for real wet - slushy stuff, I don't believe they are completely "waterproof", but - didn't purchase for that reason.

Fabulous warm shoe for my husband to wear...
During the winter months, my husband’s feet are always so cold in the house. He would wear shoes and Docker shoes in the house to keep his feet warm. I searched for a nice looking, warm shoe for him to wear in the house that wasn't a "slipper". He is so pleased with the way H.S. Trask shoe fits, feels, and wears over carpet and hard work floors. He can even step outside in this shoe and his feet stay warm. I would highly recommend this shoe for anyone to wear for warmth and comfort.
