I've wanted a pair of burgundy and black saddle shoes for decades but the problem has been trying to get a pair in a "B" width. No manufacturer (that I've found) other than Allen Edmonds makes them in a narrow. I finally took the plunge and ordered them from Zappos and they were worth the investment. The shoes fit beautifully, look great and are extremely well made. As a couple of the reviewers have stated, if you take care of these, they should last a lifetime. I'm a repeat customer of Zappos and I have found their service and selection to be top drawer.

This is a well quality made shoe. All leather, wood sole, high quality materials. Also made in the USA. Felt true to size, being a 15 was a great fit. I have had them for almost a year now and have had no problems. Ordered me another pair today in a black.

Just a short note to express the Allen-Edmonds shoe. I have purchased a Chilli and Black colored pair, amazingly the both fit the same!! Good old American workmanship. Yes, it does cost a little more but, I did not have to take them to be stretched, or buy liners to make the heel part fit! You get what you pay for! Thanks for allowing me to express my feelings about this product.

My left foot caused the shoe to pleat a little bit. It may be because my left foot is smaller than the right one. But the shoe is still elegant and draws attention.

What a great shoe. I have to get to the point where I just wear these shoes on a daily basis, rather than a super dress shoe. Because I ordered the shoe in a proper size for me (width E), it is the most comfortable shoe I own. Thank you for fantastic service.

Gorgeous, top quality, everything you expect - If you're already an Allen-Edmonds owner, then these shoes will neither surprise nor disappoint. They deliver the extremely high quality and classic style you expect from this maker. I've noticed that A-E's quality has not always been consistent in recent years. These shoes have the quality A-E was built on. Construction is flawless, especially in the braided-leather toe plug and trim – absolutely perfect. This is what Allen Edmonds ownership is all about!

I bought the black polished calf Walden. The first thing I noticed was the slightly snug fit in my regular size. Just right to break it in properly. This shoe reeks of quality. The one piece leather lined insole is a touch-of-class. If I had to have only one pair of shoes, these would be it...Plus, Zappos is the greatest, as usual.

My feet got a bit larger as I grew older. It's not easy to find an attractive shoe in a larger size that is truly comfortable. I love this shoe and I love Zappos... great service.

We have always had to buy Allen-Edmonds or another brand because of our narrow width. These Allen-Edmonds fit very well right out of the box and are very comfortable. As other styles become available we will look at this brand very closely.

I have been paying $150 -$200 for shoes BUT they just didn’t fit right for one reason or another. These are excellent and when you work long hours 12 - 14 hours a day good shoes are important. The extra $100 well spent. :)

I ordered a pair of Allen-Edmonds Hampstead shoes on a Sunday afternoon at home. The shoes arrived on Tuesday! Now that is superb service and I am now a confirmed Zappos customer. As for the shoes, these are hands down the finest shoes I have ever owned. When I opened the box I was simply awed by the quality. They are not just shoes but gorgeous hand-made works of art. I have owned plenty of the good brands - Johnston and Murphy, Bostonian, Florsheim, just to name a few - but they are not even in the same league as these and most, sad to say, are now made overseas. Allen-Edmunds has been hand- crafting their shoes in the USA since the1920's. It is comforting to know that Americans can still make the best stuff. And my new shoes are made in my home state of Wisconsin to boot!
Congratulations to Zappos and to Allen-Edmunds for being two first class companies.

First Disappointment from Allen-Edmonds -
The only dress shoes I've bought for the past ten years are Allen-Edmonds, yet the Hale has been a disappointment. The shoes are stiff and have broken in poorly. After over a month, the leather in the right shoe still presses painfully on my foot. I'll buy AE again but this is strike one.

Great looks, Decent fit -
Overall a very nice shoe. I found that the fit was a bit long in the toe and wider overall than I see with Johnston & Murphy of the same width, and that the shoe does not offer very much support. I greatly prefer the Trampoline system in Johnston & Murphy, but sometimes it really is all about looks :)
