Since 1885, the Dunham brand has been committed to providing the best footwear to those who live to explore and challenge Mother Nature. The company had its humble beginnings in Brattleboro, Virginia thanks to brothers, George and Charles Dunham. Their simple philosophy: deliver quality shoes and boots to anyone who has an affinity for the great outdoors.
In 1998, the Dunham brand was acquired by New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. The same dedication to making quality shoes for people who live, work and play outdoors that was present back in 1885 still holds true today. As a member of the New Balance family of brands, Dunham can now provide its customers with the latest technologies and innovations.
Dunham offers a wide range of sizes, widths and styles. Whether you are looking for a casual shoe to wear out on the town, a boot that will traverse your favorite trail, or a sandal for the beach, Dunham has you covered. If you are passionate about the outdoors and a shoe that fits great, Dunham is the brand for you.

This is the third pair of the same style shoe I have purchased. Without other words, I love this shoe. (Also, it is one of the only boat type shoe that is big enough!)

Very comfy--strap over the instep could be longer -
I read glowing reports from others. I agree with them. These are so comfortable that no one could ask for more.
A 275 pound man with a high instep is still able to secure the strap over his instep while wearing size 11, 4E width sandals, but it would be easier if the strap were a little longer. Nevertheless, it is long enough to work. I think a man my size might prefer more width--especially if he has a high instep; but 4E will do for me if they have nothing wider.

Saved the day -
I recently had foot surgery and after 6 weeks received the small medical boot to wear. It was very uncomfortable so I looked on Zappos for something similar and found these. I ordered them and of course received them the next day as I always do -thank you Zappos!! They are fantastic. The straps are just like the boot, but they are far more comfortable because of the cushioning in the sole. I ordered them a size wider and longer than normal in order to accommodate the ace bandage wrap that I still am using. I have never worn anything like these before, but they are terrific and I will continue to wear them long after the current need is over. Because of my use, I am not sure how accurate the size is, but the non injured foot fits fine with the highly adjustable straps so I would say overall the fit is probably pretty true to size.

Dunham Sandal -
This sandal is acceptable, but not up the usual Dunham standard. The size is true to fit as usual, but the lining was a much cheaper material than usual and the stitching is a stiff thread that rubs the foot some, but has been smoothing down as I wear them. The two top straps are much shorter than normal than would come with a 4E width sandal. They BARELY meet the velcro on both of them and I almost sent them back, but decided to keep them since the 4E is hard to come by.

Gave up after many months/miles with these shoes -Kept getting blisters on the SIDE of my left foot. Apparently the soft leather would fold funny there and provide a "pinch point" for the back side of my foot. Tried everything to fix it, including shoe goo, new insoles, etc, but to no avail.

Dunham Boat Shoe -
Once again expert service from Zappos - they sent them to my hotel ahead of me when I needed them for a trip! The only place I buy shoes.
The shoe is comfortable, but a little different looking from a normal boat shoe - wider toe box, kind of a waxy finish (waterproof).

15E Size -
If your husband has large feet try the Dunham Brand. My husband loves this brand. He has 3 bought 3 styles and loves all of them. He is looking forward to the fall boots; he likes the slip/pull-on type. His job is outdoors and the slip/pull on type boot works well for him.

Awesome Shoes -
I bought a pair of the Dunham Driftwood 3-eyelet and have found them to be the most comfortable shoes I've ever purchased. I wear a large size, 13-4E and these are great. I have flat feet so I was a little worried about the arches, but they are very supportive and have room for orthotics, which I add for extra arch support. They have great traction on wet/oily surfaces. I see people looking at these shoes when I wear them. They look sharp and are made of the best quality leather I've seen. Thank you for such great shoes. Well worth the price.

Best Pick From a Long Search -
This purchase was the end of a long search for a boat shoe that would accommodate the high bridge of my foot; something that is seldom figured into most shoe designs which address just length and width. I had hoped that the upper sides would close more over the exposed tongue of the shoe when the laces are drawn, but I suppose one can't have everything. Overall, the shoe feels good and looks good. The price is a little on the high side, but not unreasonable.

Comfort vs. durability - As a foreman for an excavating company I spend 8-10 hours a day on my feet in the rain, snow, dirt, mud, extreme cold and extreme heat. I have size 14D feet and it's hard to find a comfortable work boot. A friend recommended Contractor series work boot. It is the most comfortable boot I have ever owned and the first time in 16 years my feet have not hurt, which is amazing. The only problem I have with the boot is the durability, they last about 2 months. I'm already through my second pair. I bought my first pair about this time last year and I was back in a pair of Caterpillar boots by the middle of August. I wore those all fall, winter and most of spring until I couldn't take it anymore because my feet were in such pain that I broke down and purchased another pair of Dunhams by the end of April. I had a blowout in them today. I'm a laborer and consider myself to be fairly practical and just can't justify buying a new pair of boots every two months.

Great working shoe -
These shoes are very comfortable. I carry a lot of weight and am on my feet all day. They pinch a little bit when crouching. But they have a great bouncy step and wear well. Excellent for narrow feet. I think they are made by New Balance and it shows.

Great shoes for bad feet -
I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and it's very difficult to find shoes which fit, are comfortable and look nice. This shoe gets an A+ in all categories. Also, the service from Zappos is amazing. I ordered my shoes on Sunday and was wearing them on Tuesday. GREAT JOB ZAPPOS!!!

Great shoes so far -
I spent a bit more on these shoes hoping they'd stand the test of time. A month into ownership is a bit early to judge on that score, though, so all I can say is so far so good. I did get caught hiking in a flash thunderstorm, and even though I did more than a bit of wading my toes were bone dry through it all.

Love the boot, glad to find it -
I have been looking for a boot like this to replace my work boot. Visits to numerous local large and small stores were unsuccessful. Then my brother-in-law recommended Zappos. Very worried about online boot purchasing. I decided to try it with the easy return policy. This boot is fantastic - light in weight, strong in field testing, comfortable from day one. I was tempted to buy a second pair to be ready for my next replacement in a few years.

Good all-around shoe -
I chose this shoe for traveling as it goes with both slacks and jeans. I travel very light (carry on only). These Dunham's Oxfords fit the bill nicely. On a recent trip I spent hours on my feet and walked a few hours a day and felt fine, no blisters or aching feet.

Disappointing Boot from a Quality Company -
This is an unbiased review of the Dunham Contractor 6" Steel Toe 616 Boot.
I am a wastewater treatment plant operator and I put these boots through LOTS of ABUSE!!!
Positives: Style, looks, heel support and comfort, and sole pattern. With my orthotics from the podiatrist they were quite comfortable for about 4-5 hours of use, but after that stinging pain came from the front part of the sole of my feet; in front of the arch.
Negatives:
Zero insulation and warmth...Wear from April to October ONLY!!! My feet got cold instantly and stayed cold.
Leather - NOT ABLE TO BE WATERPROOFED!!! Tried Kiwi Water Pruf, and it didn't help at all. These boots take on water like the Titanic. Damp and cold in minutes after being wet.
Sole - Wore out smooth within 3-4 months of use. They were used on a 40 hour work week on asphalt and concrete.
Narrow and difficult to get your foot in and out of sometimes. The tongue needs to be more detached. There is no leather upper to help slip into the boots either.
I found the boot to fit properly; Size 11 - 4E width with orthotics from a podiatrist. The width is slightly narrow though. I own other pairs of New Balance Size 11 4E running shoes and they feel a little bit wider than these boots.
I never used the inner soles that came with the boot.
Overall, these boots are NOT recommended for use outdoors if you are a contractor or work outside for a majority of your day, in rain, snow, etc. These boots will NOT keep your feet warm or dry.
These boots are good only in a warehouse type of environment/indoors only that requires steel toe. Otherwise, don't wear them outside!
Hope this review helped other potential buyers!

Dunham Work Shoes -
I have purchased several pairs of this brand and model shoe. They serve me well in the summer months at work. It would be nice if they had a more durable soul and more padding on the inside. Zappos customer service and shipping is always world class.

 | | I have to commend you in your customer service. It has been absolutely perfect. My son ordered a pair of Vans from your company on Monday, 04/28 and received the shoes yesterday, 04/30. To say the least, this is the best service, by far, that we have ever had when ordering via an internet site. Not to mention he free shipping! We were originally concerned with the 4-5 delivery date as he is going to wear the shoes with his tux to the Jr. Prom this weekend, 05/03. He is absolutely thrilled they arrived early. Not only are we very happy with your service, but the selection of Vans on your site is exceptional. As these are the primary shoes he wears, I can say your site is where we will be shopping from now on. Regards, Lee Ann | | ~ Lee Ann, May 02 2008
