Before you think the Pliners’ noble cause is their only passion, take note that there are as many facets to Donald and Lisa’s tremendous life as there is creative inspiration for Donald each season in designing his footwear. Donald’s characteristic, almost childlike enthusiasm for the good things in life, from a leisurely bike ride near their Miami residence with Starr and BabyDoll in-tow to a romantic evening with his outgoing wife Lisa, is apparent in every step he takes. “My passion for the process of designing, living and breathing each of my collections is always there, but life has become even more fulfilling since Lisa and I started the foundation.
And the dynamic duo of Donald and Lisa have always been known for their extensive dossier of charitable efforts, from starting the Toe Box Foundation for the Miami City Ballet to involvement in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Humane Society, and the Jackson Memorial Children’s Hospital. But their own foundation grew out of adopting their beautiful daughter, Starr Emmanuelle, from an orphanage in Kazakhstan three years ago. “Seeing all these children who may never be adopted over there gave us a reason to make it our mission to do something about it,” says Donald.

In 1989, Donald created a women’s line under his own name (years later, he would incorporate the same types of materials and comfort features into a line of Donald J Pliner shoes for men). Donald Pliner shoes and accessories were an instant hit with women the world over. In 1994, the first all-over elastic Donald J Pliner shoe was designed with ultimate comfort in mind. These shoes are beautiful. They aren't the most comfortable shoes ever, but they look hot and even my picky husband liked them. His response, "They look expensive." If he noticed, then they must be good! I bought them in the mushroom and will wear them with a lot of different outfits. If you want a drop dead sexy sandal, then these are for you!

Today is the first day I have tried to wear them and they are going back to Zappos. The shoes are cute enough, but really hard to keep on my feet so walking is difficult. If a person just wears them to sit--great shoe. I need a bit more versatility than that especially at the price. I LOVE Donald Pliner shoes, but this one is a definite disappointment.

I love the look of this shoe. And it's comfortable for minimal walking. But yesterday I wore them for a walk of about 1/4 mile. The strap rubbed the top of my foot at the base of my toes. Perhaps because the shoe doesn't fit me snugly? I'll try a little pad to see if that helps but I can't rate this shoe overly high in comfort because of the rub and because it doesn't have much support. Still I love it!

Sexy and comfortable! This is one sexy little shoe but remarkably, it is also comfortable. The raised-edge suede footbed is the secret – keeps your foot from sliding around. The ankle strap is the sexy part. Because I have VERY narrow feet, I had to have 2 more holes punched in the strap (N width) but now my foot feels secure. Worn with a leggy skirt you're sure to feel like a million bucks and turn some heads!

Nice looking but I bought these shoes in bronze and white colors and the first day I wore them, the straps pulled, giving me blisters on both feet (just like the other reviewer said). The shoes are very nice looking, but what's the use if they are not comfortable? I will have to return/exchange both pairs I bought for a lower heel version of the same shoe, which I have in black. It’s both beautiful and very comfortable.

The most comfortable sandal I own. Looks fantastic with pants and skirts, I can walk all day long in these and get compliments, too. I have narrow feet and it's so nice to have a sandal that FITS, instead of my foot rattling around. LOVE these.

I bought the Rona in the coral shade. The first time I wore them I received two compliments. They are a little narrow, so maybe go up a half size unless you are narrow. (I've been told that the difference in half sizes is usually more about width.) Because of the quality leather, they didn't hurt or pinch. Great for pants, skirts, dresses, and a nice medium height heel. Unless your foot is narrow, go up a half size to account for the width.

Read reviews and was excited, so ordered in the sand color in my usual sz 6. Found them to be narrow across the front (I have a med. width foot) and became increasingly uncomfortable with only minimal wear, i.e., wore them out to dinner and sat most of evening, but feet still hurt. Also, the platform has a tendency to "rock" a little from side-to-side and caused me to trip twice! I have many DP shoes and frequently wear platforms and heels, but was so disappointed in these. Unfortunately, I wore them out before wearing them around the house on carpet, so I cannot return them.

Heel straps a problem -
I also loved these shoes at first and they are very comfortable, but I keep having to make new holes for the heel strap because it keeps falling down. I can't make any more holes and the strap still keeps falling down. This is my first pair of Pliners that aren't great - now I have to find another pair of sandals to replace them, so don't waste your money.

Great looking, sexy shoe, but when I walk just a few steps the heel strap slips off; not that the shoe was too big, just the heel strap is not very secure like Pliner’s Eso2 style. It was pretty comfortable, except for that issue. And the red is such a deep "antique" beautiful color. Wish I could have kept them, but I didn't like having to pull the heel strap back up every few steps.

Pliner’s are always one of my favorites. I purchased the brown/leopard heel and I wear it to work and for play. I like Pliner’s because they fit my slender foot and the sizing is usually spot on.

Sassy Dressy, With Fit & Comfort -
I have this Donald J. Pliner shoe in gray that I bought in a local store, so I knew how great it fit my 6AA feet. I ordered the Navy & LOVE IT, too! I go all day long at work & my feet never tire - great support! Wish I had it in White or Cream, but none available now in my hard to fit size. THANK YOU for having Narrows in small sizes - especially in a sassy style! They are nearly impossible to find.

Sadly, I really love these shoes. They are perfect for work and play in so many ways, especially the comfortable heel height, but after trying three different sizes and stuffing them with every different kind of Foot Petal on the planet, I unfortunately had to bite the bullet and return them. No matter what I tried, my heel would not stop slipping out with each step. It's a pity because they are fabulous... for someone with a different foot.

Gorgeous, but narrow -
These are really elegant and prettier than just regular pumps - the cut-out adds a lot of personality to the shoe. They are definitely narrow though. I thought they might stretch out a bit from wearing them, but they did not.

I was thrilled to find this shoe. However, with no adjustment possible on the strap, it didn't fit my narrow heel. The lack of platform flexibility combined with no arch support and the heel problem means that it was a miserable fit. I loved it, but have to return it.

 |  | You are very welcome for the kind words... I have told my friends and family and will continue to do so. It is strange but we were recently talking about how sad it is that customer service in most retail stores has gotten so poor. It just seems most places don't care if you are satisfied or not. I once again not tell you how much I appreciate you folks taking such good care of me. Also I will let them know how easy and inexpensive it is to return products that don't work out. That was one of my concerns; what if I don't like it in person or a particular brand needs a slightly different size. You folks make it is to try things and return rather than being concerned if you don't like it your stuck with it. How wonderful. No more hassles of the mall for me. Oh yea and on top of the service the shoes are beautiful and can hardly wait to wear them to my son's wedding. I will let you know how many compliments I get while wearing them...
