Founded by Henry Dunker at the end of the 19th century in Sweden, Tretorn was an innovator in footwear from the moment it was launched. Having built up a reputation for dependability and discreet luxury with its iconic rubber boots, Tretorn was also the first company to launch the pressureless tennis ball.
The company's association with life on and off court rapidly created something of a cult following surrounding the brand, a status which was firmly secured when Wimbledon winners took to the grass in Tretorn in the 1970s. Inspired by the high profile and success of the brand, Tretorn's canvas and leather Nylites were the only shoe in which to be seen wearing on North American campuses throughout the 1980s. Lean and understated, Tretorn's simple sneaker was the first luxury sports shoe on the market.
Tretorn’s expertise in rubber-made products demonstrates a consistent commitment to quality and brand over hype, offering a collection most appreciated by those with a practical sensibility and a lifestyle largely enjoyed outside. Because Tretorn celebrates a lifestyle, largely lived outside, Tretorn ensures that labor is not exploited and the production methods are continuously revised for the good of the consumers and the environment. This commitment to sustainability and safe products is embodied in Tretorn’s PVC-Free policy. It is a business practice for which Tretorn is widely recognized as industry leaders.

Not my old Tretorns -
I was a little disappointed when I received my new Tretorns. They felt different, so I dug my old pair out of the back of my closet. My old ones are lined in terry cloth for comfy no-sock days. My old ones have a more substantial sole and arch support. Even the shoelaces are sturdier. These are more like Keds. Not worth the money.

Great Casual Sneaker -
The color wasn't as white as I expected (or remembered), I always bought these shoes years ago, but they seemed to have disappeared for a while. They are comfortable for running errands and look cute with jeans or shorts, but I wouldn't consider them all day walking shoes.

They were shoes that I wore in high school and was so glad to find them still being made. They are very comfortable which is something hard for me to find since having surgery on one of my feet.

Disappointed -
Having worn my old Tretorns for at least 5 years I ordered new ones recently. The original shoes were great - I have bad knees and because they were soft and cushy they did not cause knee discomfort. However, the original shoes I own were made in the Philippines - comfortable and light.
As soon as I pulled the new ones out of the box I knew they were NOT the same. The new ones were made in CHINA - they were hard, uncomfortable and felt cheap. I immediately sent them back. I will now have to look for another brand. Such a major disappointment that to me Tretorn will no longer mean comfort.

Tretorn Tennis Shoes -
I have worn Tretorn Tennis Shoes for thirty years. Unlike other tennis shoes, they never hurt my feet. They look elegant, are lightweight, and well made.

Awesome -
I am old enough to have nice dress shoes, but young enough to care about style. If you have big soles on your shoes, go a size bigger. These are great!

Look Great but not Comfy -
I love the look of these Tretorns- very classic but they are not so comfortable. My feet end up hurting at the end of the day which is surprising for sneakers.

My favorite!
I have worn Tretorns since the early 1980s and they were my favorite then and still are! They fit wonderful... I go 1/2 size larger because I wash mine all of the time and they seem to get a little snugger. I hope they will come out with all of the colors they once had!

Great buy!
I love these boots, they fit great!
I’ve had a really hard time finding rain boots, but these fit just below my calf and I love them.
They are wider than your average rain boot, which is great!

Yay for Tretorn Skerry -
I purchased these boots for the spring and dog walking. They are so easy to get on, keep clean, and comfortable to wear all day! They were exactly what I was looking for - no need to search around or pay for other designer brands. I've gotten a lot of compliments on their appeal as well!

Cracks after few wears -
Comfortable and cute, 100% waterproof and warm. However, after only a few wears, the furry lining had worn away behind the heels causing blisters even with socks. After a mile or two, the boots developed a crack along the sole seam, turning rainboots into sandals. Sounds like others have had similar trouble.

Fabulous Rain Boot -
Love this boot! This is my first pair of rain boots ever. I usually hate rain boots because they are so squat and unattractive. These are so not!!! I can tell you these look amazing with jeans tucked into them w/ a trench coat. I like them w/ jeans over them too. I think they are very comfortable. Nice boot. You won't go wrong w/ these.

What they say is true -
Yes, indeed, the reviews I ignored are absolutely true. These are astoundingly underwhelming. The sole is thin but unlike Havaiana’s has no "squish" or softness. Though I've had no trouble with blisters or fitting but the shoe doesn't really want to stay in place. The Tretorn graphic is on 1 shoe (the left), and they do look good. I like how they look on my feet, but my feet don't like them.

These very pricey and fashionable boots are OK...nothing spectacular. They are not as comfortable as I thought they would be-especially when I'm driving. But at least I look good when it's pouring! My Burberry rain boots are 100x's better!!

Always a Classic!
I really remember these shoes from the late 70's and they still look and fit the same. They have a simple classic elegance and (in my opinion) look great with Levis 501's. They are very flexible and light and are comfortable without socks. The only con with these shoes is that the insoles are as flat as a board. I really need arch support with my shoes so I added some 3/4 length insoles - voila instant support. These shoes run very true to size or maybe even slightly large. So if you normally wear a size 9, then order a size 9! Without socks and depending on your foot build, one might even need an 8.5. With Zappos great service and blindingly fast shipping getting the correct size will be a breeze!

Lining didn't hold up -
I've always been someone whose feet never get cold, so I wanted a boot that I could wear without socks. These seemed great for the first week or so I had them, but after that the lining started coming apart. The foot pads slipped out when I took them on and off, and then came apart. Now the only way to keep the lining in place is if I wear socks. Overall a good boot, but not as well made as I would have hoped!

I'm a child of the 80's and love Tretorns. These feel just like they did back then - very comfortable. If you're considering getting them from Zappos, keep this in mind:
1. These shoes aren't white. They're off-white.
2. The plastic gullwing logo on the side IS pure white.
3. The stitched trim that outlines the tongue, the lace well, and the "v" toe IS also pure white.
If you look at them in indoor light, you can't tell the difference, but if you go outside and look down at them, you'll notice a big difference. It doesn't look bad per-se. Just odd. And definitely not what they looked like back in the day.
Now, here's what's really odd: before I knew Zappos carried these shoes, I bought some online from the Tretorn website. When they arrived, I noticed...
1. They are pure white all over.
2. The gullwing logo is leather, not plastic.
3. They're made from a distinctly heavier canvas than the ones I got from Zappos.
4. They're not as comfortable as the ones I got from Zappos.
I ended up keeping both pair. Both look and feel great. Not totally sure why there's a difference, but I like them so much I really don't care. Just be advised, there is a difference. If you get them from Tretorn, they'll look like they did in the 80's. If you get them from Zappos, they'll feel like they did in the 80's.

Great in theory -
I have had these boots for over a year. I initially got them because of all the great reviews on here. To be fair, they were all accurate. The boots are very nice looking, are true to size and comfortable considering they are rubber.
The thing is: they let in water. And they don't last very long.
Every time I wore them, water would seep in through the zipper area. Logically this makes sense, so do I have the right to be annoyed, since I should have known that the zipper wasn't a magical zipper that was also completely waterproof? Not sure.
But also: water is by now coming in through a few other places. The back of the boots (right at the Achilles heel) has busted open a bit because of how it bends when walking (I guess), and the other seams aren't as tightly together as when I first got them, so water comes in through there as well.
In summary, great looking, comfortable rain boot, but not very practical. I would have expected a brand like Tretorn to make a boot that is still in one piece after only a year of wearing them only - when - it - rains - hard.
