Since 1907, Sanita has embraced the Danish word “hygge” (pronounced hue-guh) in the construction of each and every pair of Sanita clogs. Loosely translated, “hygge” means “making everything cozy”. Clean design, natural materials and fine craftsmanship are just a few things that make Sanita clogs so special. Christian Andersen, Sanita’s founder, utilized these three things to help make Sanita what it is today. Andersen left his career as a farmer forever when he began creating clogs out of wood. After a half-century of building the business, Christen and his son Johannes closed their successful store and completely devoted themselves to designing and distributing footwear. This risky maneuver paid off in the early 1980’s.
1983 marked a definitive year for Sanita – that’s the year that Christian discovered a factory in Italy that made cast soles out of polyurethane. This innovate new technology allowed Sanita to shape clog bottoms to fit the anatomical shape of the foot. With heel, arch and toe support and added shock absorption, the polyurethane heel combined with the upturned toe of the Sanita clog provided unmatched comfort and launched each and every step with a simple rolling motion. Thus, the Sanita Original Collection (then the San-Flex) was born and is still made in Europe.
Clogs have been a worker’s choice for years. Anyone who stands on their feet all day knows the benefits of wearing a finely crafted clog. More recently, clogs have become a fashion statement as well and can be seen on the feet of the fashionable world-wide. For the past 25 years, Sanita has continued to innovate with superior design, materials and hand-crafted European construction. I\'m in my late 40\'s and have just started a job at a nursing home where I\'m on my feet most of the day. Even some of my standard shoes were not as comforable as these. I like the color, it goes with lots of pants I wear and seem to hold up to the work place dress code. I have widish feet, and I don\'t do well with any kind of heel. I went large with these, I usually wear a 8.5 size but went with the 40 which is said to fit 9. Anyway, I can wear these every day, as they have become my comfort shoe.

After an unsuccessful store search for Sanita clogs in my size (40), I ordered some from another on line site. When they didn\'t fit, I had to pay the return shipping fee. Not so with Zappos. I checked out their free return policy before ordering. To my delight, I was notified of their shipping date by email, the shoes arrived promptly, and all that was needed for returns was included. Luckily, I didn\'t need the latter as I am very happy with my new clogs. Thank you, Zappos.

I bought these shoes for my 3 year old daughter and she loves them. I recommend ordering a size or two larger, though. My daughter wears a US size 9, so I purchased the 24 (US 9). These were way too small; more like a US 7. I returned them, Zappos makes this very easy, and got the 25 (US 9/10). Still too small. I ended up with the 26 (US 11), which fit like a US 9. I love Zappos. Despite having to return 2 different pair to get the size right, Zappos is still the best place to find shoes.

Love these shoes! I have tried Danskos several times; 40s too short, 41s way too big, even the narrows. I ordered a 41 professional narrow in these and love them. They are much more narrow than the Danskos (narrow) and fit a little different. Now I know why people love clogs so much! I suggest ordering a size up, I normally wear 9s and the 41s work for me. I wear them to work. I am on my feet 10 hours a day; my legs don't hurt anymore.

Love Zappos, love this shoe! These shoes qualify for "so nerdy they're cool" status. They are incredibly comfortable. I do not like to have to take them off ever! They are identical to Danskos. My friend and I compared them side-by-side. I ordered Sanita for the gray color in the patent one.

I just bought my first pair of Sanita clogs and I love them. Some people think clogs are not stylish, but I think with casual clothes they're very stylish. Way more stylish than ugly Keen sandals or ugly sneaker/clogs. Perfect for Seattle weather; they're sturdy and give me a bit of clearance off the ground to avoid mud and rain. Extraordinarily comfortable. One note: the sizing conversions listed seem to be a touch off. I wear a US 12.5-13. According the sizing chart, I should order a 46, but I actually wear a 48, which Sanita lists as US 14.5-15! I definitely don't wear a 14.5-15! So I guess their conversion is off or these clogs run quite short.

These shoes are great. I put them on and was able to wear them all day, the first day! I have several pairs of Dansko, but have been having trouble finding Dansko that aren't tight on the top of my foot, solution found. These are perfect and will be a staple in my shoe closet for years!

These shoes are beautiful! So disappointed though, because they are so uncomfortable. I wear a size 9 normally, so I got the 39 and not good, could barely get my foot in and the instep was so high. I need to return them.

I tried several pairs before finally finding the perfect ones for me. These clogs fit great, although I am wearing them a size larger than normal with thick socks. My normal size was a perfect barefoot fit - not how I would be wearing these clogs. The sizing solution works for me.\r\n\r\nI wore them on a trip to Europe and had no trouble walking in them. They are comfortably foot hugging with a cobblestone hugging rubber sole.\r\n\r\nI\'m quite pleased with them.\r\n\r\n

I did have to stretch out these shoes with a shoe stretcher. Overall, I can wear them for about 3 or 4 hours a day. I usually bring these shoes to work, for my extra pair, just in case. I had a broken toe, years ago, the strap hits that location and so after a while it hurts. They are hard shoes, but have a good arch support. They help to keep my body aligned so that I do not get lower back pain and it helps with my Plantar Fasciitis. I am on my feet 40 hours a week, and though they are good shoes, I am only able to wear them for a short time during the day. If you have wide feet, they are narrow. If you are looking for all day comfort, they might work if you are able to sit at a desk type job, but they are not good for all day on your feet type of comfort.

I was very pleased to find this clog in brown patent leather. I have a black patent leather clog by Dansko that I probably bought 5 plus years ago. I wear clogs everyday and now I have a brown pair to add to my collection. I was never able to find a brown clog that I liked. I feel that the Sanita clog fits more like the old Dansko clog - I know that there was a change to the Dansko clog when these two companies split. The patent leather is great with jeans and looks snappy!

These shoes are very comfortable and fit true to size. I have the black shiny leather ones already and bought these because I knew I liked the brand. The foot support is very good. The type of leather that these have scuffs fairly easily, you can lessen the scratches by rubbing them, but they aren\'t going to stay beautiful looking forever. If you don\'t mind the patina of wear, that\'s fine, but if you need them to stay looking brand new try one of the other types of leather uppers. I gave them 4 stars only because the leather marks up easily, for all other reasons they would get 5 stars.

These really are the most comfortable shoes ever. I have been wearing a pair of brown oiled leather slip-on Dansko clogs for about 5 years and absolutely love them! I have walked all over in them and they are still in great shape, but I wanted something slightly dressier. So, I recently purchased the Sanita Professional Cabrio in black (I went with Sanita based on the reviews and they do, in fact, have the same patent number on the bottom as my old Danskos). I typically wear a 7.5, so I went with the 38 and they fit exactly like they are supposed to (i.e., slightly snug when you put your foot in, but your heel should slip when you walk). These clogs are kind of narrow, so they may not work if your feet are especially wide. The only less-than-glowing thing I can report is that I was slightly disappointed in the finish work; the edging was trimmed sloppily and there were stray threads that needed to be snipped off. Since the shoes are so comfortable, and my old pair has been so durable, I forgive Sanita and highly recommend any of their clogs.

Great shoes! I have been a big fan of Dansko for a long time. Being a teacher, I'm on my feet all day. I have to say that I have pairs of Danskos that are more than 5 years old and still going strong. I liked the style of the Marcelle because it can go well with pants or skirts. Well made, comfortable and stylish.

These are absolutely the best shoes I have ever owned. There is not a shoe out there that gives quality arch support like these shoes do. I have chronic plantar fasciitis and these shoes make all the difference. I have tried others, but none compare. I have three other pairs and not only are they supportive and comfortable, they also wear like iron. 2 pairs that I have are about 5 years old and still look as good as the day I purchased them. If you buy these, I am confident you will not be disappointed.

This shoe equals love. I was not 100% satisfied with my last pair of Danskos, however I read about Sanitas being the original clog and decided to give them a try again. And I was so happy. It was not tight across the top of the foot and it did not squeak. I am so happy with this shoe. Yes, they are not the prettiest things, but if you are on your feet a lot you don't exactly care.

Day one: I wasn\'t too sure about these when I first got them. They felt a little tight at the top of my foot (right above the toebox). But I decided to keep them and wore them around town that day... WOW. My feet and legs didn\'t hurt all day! \r\n\r\nDay two: I put the shoes on and noticed that the top of my foot felt bruised in the area where the shoe felt tight the day before. Hmmm... But, I decided to wear them again just to see what would happen. That bruised area was a little tender for about 5 minutes, but then I didn\'t feel anything and by the end of the day, my legs and feet weren\'t hurting (I should point out that for 3 weeks prior to the shoes\' arrival, I had been dealing with painful feet and aching legs).\r\n\r\nFast forward a week: the tender spot at the top of my foot is gone. Happy day!\r\n\r\nFast forward a month: these are by far my absolute most favorite shoes to wear! They are soooooo comfortable. They look great with pants AND skirts. I wear them to work and church.\r\n\r\nFinal thoughts: these shoes felt a little snug the first week I wore them (I wear mine with socks), but now they feel perfect. If you are a half-size, consider going up in size. I don\'t have wide feet, but I do have chubby feet and that\'s probably why the top of my foot hurt at first. They do not make my feet look huge nor, as my husband has said about other "mary jane" shoes I\'ve owned, like Smurfette\'s feet.

Bought these shoes because I wanted a vegan shoe that made me happy to put them on in the morning. These fit the bill perfectly. I initially found the insole to be a bit unforgiving; fixed the problem with some foam insoles. I now wear these shoes just about every day. Comfy, cute, practical, and a great conversation starter!
