Birkenstock® USA, began over 30 years ago when the founder, Margot Fraser, had a dream of sharing the comfort and health benefits of Birkenstock shoes. Most Birkenstock and Birki's footbeds are crafted from a cork-latex mixture. The cork used is 100% renewable and sustainable harvested from the Oak tree. The harvesting of the cork does not harm the Oak Tree and allows for new bark to grow back beginning the life cycle all over again. Each contoured footbed will molds and shapes to your foot with the heat of your body creating a custom footbed that supports and cradles each and every step. Available in a variety of styles, the time-tested cork construction has been enhanced with a layer of memory foam.

I have very bad plantar fasciitis in the left foot and a friend of mine told me about these inserts. WOW! Never paid that much for an orthotic, but decided it was worth it if it worked. I am extremely pleased with these shoe inserts. It has eased the pain tremendously. Now, I feel there is hope for this tendon to mend.

Love! Got these today, less than 24 hours after ordering, as is wonderfully usual with Zappos! Got golden brown, regular width, 39. I agree with an earlier reviewer that the color is really pretty! Makes them slightly dressier and will probably match with more since they are definitely more metallic than brown. Super comfortable right out of the box – will not need as much break in as my other Birks. The underside of the strap is very soft. I have bad feet but these feel so great! Good arch support and the strap makes them feel very secure. Yay! (I'm usually a 9 in American shoes, but always a 39 in Birks, so I labeled these as larger than marked.)

Three little words...I LOVE THEM - I have worn Birkenstock for several years due to a chronic case of plantar fasciitis. Birkenstock appears to be the only shoe that actually supports my weight and my arches enough to make the pain bearable. The only problem with regular Birks is that sometimes just the hardness of the footbed leaves me with corns and calluses that bother me. When I saw the soft footbed of Arizonas and read some of the feedback, I decided to try it myself. I received them yesterday and in three words I LOVE THEM. The soft footbed is the crowning glory on a great shoe. It gives some padding to the foot as it supports them with the original construction. I don't think I will ever buy a regular Birkenstock again. I just hope this softness lasts for as long as the shoe does! My one CON would be that the shoe felt a smidge shorter than my original Arizonas do but I can live with that. I don't think I would want to jump up a size, they just feel a touch shorter.

I tried on three styles of Birkenstocks, and this was the only one that worked for me. It's a little stiff at first, but after a week or so of wearing, the footbed becomes very soft and much more flexible. I have a slightly wide foot, but my toes fit perfectly in this sandal.

I love Birks! I cannot believe how fabulous the new soft footbed feels! Zappos has fast, fast shipping and they are the ONLY ones on the net with the regular width! I am soooo happy with these shoes. I suffer from plantar fasciitis in both feet and in just a day, my feet feel better! Fabulous job Zappos!

Found the sizing to be a little large, especially the width. I wear a 10.5 standard width dress shoe. Sole, particularly the outer portion of the small toe pad, takes some time to wear comfortably. Sole seems firm compared to my Quarks, which these replaced. Style is typical clog. Ugly but functional.

Love these shoes!
I have problem flat feet with chronic plantar fasciitis and have reached a point where Birkenstocks are the only shoes I can wear. However, certain styles are not comfortable, especially if the arch is too high. These shoes are wonderful! I received them Thursday night (thank you Zappos) and wore them on vacation Friday. They felt custom-made for my feet. I'm actually ordering every color in this style in my size - that's how satisfied I am!

Although this shoe was a narrow, it was still a little wider than I needed. This has been my only complaint with Birkenstocks...their narrows are not narrow enough, but the arch is great for me. This particular shoe looks more feminine - softer than the ones I have bought before. Love them!

Comfortable but bulky - These sandals are really comfortable for me, but my husband feels that his slide forward and cause him to step on the back edge. I don't have that problem and think I will be able to wear these sandals throughout Europe. My only criticism is they look somewhat bulky on my narrow feet (even though I bought the narrow width model).

At last, cute Birks!
Love the look of these! Got the red ones and threw away my tired old flip flops! They look adorable on the foot--and I'm definitely NOT a crunchy granola girl. Yes, they do the slap slap action while you're walking so probably not for all day adventures. But just fine for short trips. And thanks Zappos for getting them to me so fast. Love shopping with you!

I have a small foot, size 4.5 and these still are a little big on me. But this is not the fault of the shoe. Birkenstock shoes also run a little big.

For those who can't wear flip flops - I bought these for my husband who has bad feet (needs support) and he is very picky about shoes. He loved these! He put them on, has had no complaints and his feet don't hurt. Success. I think they are the ugliest shoes, but I don't have to wear them. Thanks to all who sent in reviews. It is why I bought them. Not for everyone -
Let me begin by saying I have plantar fasciitis in both feet. These came so highly recommended that I decided to give them a try.
I had a hard time getting the straps adjusted to my feet. By the second day, my feet felt so bruised on the bottom, I could not wear them any more. They felt like the arch was in the wrong place. I googled this brand and plantar fasciitis and found a doc who says they work well for some and not at all for others.
Perhaps these shoes would have helped to prevent my foot problems if I had started wearing them earlier in life...for me; Born has given me more relief.
Zappos was, as always, a top notch customer service oriented company.

New Birks for "new feet" -
I recently had surgery for my bunions and a hammertoe and I thought this shoe would be great when the doctor said I could FINALLY wear shoes again. The soft footbed feels sooo good and the adjustable straps allow for any swelling that may occur. Besides those reasons, this is a very comfortable summer sandal and fun to wear. My "new feet" are very happy.

I own 3 different prints in this style plus white and am panicky that they might be phased out! Wore them constantly 3 weeks in Germany and Italy, lots of walking, and here in Florida they are my day and night year round shoe. Perfect support and funky! And I'm 81! I want them in black and cyberstorm!

...as comfortable as an old shoe, but it's new. These shoes are comfy from the get-go. My teenage son loves them... they're the only sandal he wears. I have been wearing Birkenstocks for 30 years anyway. I recommend them for comfort, absolutely.

Very comfortable shoe. Love the soft footbed.I have lower back pain from sitting at a desk all day and these shoes have definitely helped. Be sure to order your true size. Birks are supposed to fit a little long for free movement of the toes. Also, order the narrow if you are a narrow or regular width. Once you get used to these shoes, you will never want to take them off!

I've owned several pairs of Birks and they've all been very comfortable - and the Gizeh model is no exception. After a few wearings, it feels completely molded to your foot. At times it feels like I'm walking on something soft and fluffy - not cork! Amazing!
