I ordered one of these mainly because I was leaving track marks on walls and ball-landed precision jumps sometimes slipped on my current pair. The outsole is sticky as advertised (could only try it on the inside walls of my flat since I didn't want to scuff them up in case I had to return them). There's little toe clearance, so precision jumps are great with this guy.
The performance of these shoes on wet surfaces is very disappointing. However, that may change after a little bit of wearing it. Lastly, order a full size larger for these guys. I have normal sized feet, but for some reason, the fascia band on the right foot is smaller than the one on the left. Very uncomfortable if you're wearing the correct size.

The best shoes for trail running -
Last weekend I used this shoes for a trail marathon (42 kms) the race was especially difficult due to at the beginning was raining very hard therefore the roads were full of mud. I can tell you that at the end of the race I did have my feet dry and with out any kind of blister.
For sure I will use these shoes for the 2009 Marathon des Sables!!!

Great shoe!
I love this shoe. It was comfortable right out of the box. I was leaving on a trip and had thought I would need to "break it in". No break in period was needed and they are still extremely comfortable after almost three months of everyday wear. I need a wide toe box for my feet and these shoes provided that. I ordered two sizes 7 and 7 1/2) of the same shoe and ended up keeping the larger size. I'm not sure if they run a little small or if I have been buying the wrong size. I cannot say enough about the shipping from this company. I ordered my shoes on the weekend and they arrived on Monday! This is not what I am used to from other online sellers. The return shipping policy is what made we try these shoes. Returning the extra pair was so easy and free. What a great online shopping experience.

Excellent Parkour Shoe -
While there are better pure running shoes out there, I would highly recommend the 320 PK for parkour or free-running. This is the second pair of these shoes I have purchased since I got into parkour. The toe is very sturdy and the shoe offers good foot protection over all without much weight at all. The sole is quite grippy on most surfaces, although its functionality is impaired when wet. My one complaint is that the outsole does tend to erode, especially on the dominant foot. My last pair lasted me a good 10 months of steady parkour use before the right shoe's sole eroded enough that I felt I needed a new pair. I have not been able to find these shoes in a brick and mortar store, but with shipping costs calculated, Zappos seems to have them for cheapest of the online merchants I could find. Plus, for some reason Zappos next-day-aired my shoes to me at no cost; never had that happen before. Other parkour shoes that I have heard good things about include the K Swiss Ariake and the 5.10 Freerunner, so check those out before you buy.

They listened!!!
I last reviewed this shoe six months ago. While it had many fine attributes, it problems made it a non-starter. The Achilles cup has been deepened and my heel no longer slips up and down. The forefoot seam had been reinforced and is no longer at immediate risk of tearing apart. The inside seam on top of the forefoot has been eliminated. It is light, responsive, protective on rocks, but not very cushioned. May not need a lot of cushion on the trail. I find it snug across the forefoot. Overall, it is my choice for trail racing. A note on sizing. I usually find I wear 9 or even larger in trail shoes, but in these, I wear the same size as my street shoes, 8.5.

Changed sizing?
My original pair, sized 8.5, fit perfectly. This second pair, also marked 8.5 is least a half size larger, length and width. I am awaiting replacement, sized 8, which was my size for all other shoes. Sigh.....
I want a second pair so that I would never be without them. They are unique.

On my second pair -
Most natural fitting outdoor shoe I have owned. This is my second pair after wearing out the first. Innov-8 construction provides for your foot to move naturally while walking/running and this makes for a new and unique experience, at least for me. There is support in all the right areas without being too much as in some other shoes. Usually wore New Balances, but am sold on this model.

Running boots.
Imagine a pretty light and comfortable running shoe, and then attach the sole of a boot. This is what these shoes feel like. They are slightly less flexible than regular running shoes, but this creates a feeling of support. Very good for running outside of a track or road.

MY FIRST LOVE -
I have to begin by saying that this is the 1st trail shoe that I ever completely fell in love with. Ive always found trail shoes to be nothing more than a road shoe with a tougher upper, a stiffer sole, a bit more traction and a lot more weight. In order to justify spending the extra $$$ on another shoe specifically for trails, it had to be low profile enough to grab the ground so as to avoid ankle rollovers on roots, large embedded rocks and just uneven terrain. Then it had to have SUBSTANTIALLY more aggressive tread than that of a road shoe so as to fly through the mud, grass, and loose gravel uphill or down like a human ATV. Though secondary, a tough upper and a REALLY cool design would probably win me over.
INOV-8 read my mind and delivered a NEAR perfect trail shoe with a brilliantly simplistic lug pattern on a well-cushioned forefoot and a lower heel for ultimate control. So when I first put them on, I was so excited that I ignored the fact that my arch hung completely over the narrow last. Then when the skin around my Achilles heel area blistered on longer wet runs, I alleviated the problem by taping my upper ankles. After researching feedback on the shoe (which included steaming it over a kettle), I concluded that the heel cup was designed too low and it angled in too sharply at the top with minimal cushioning. I first replaced the insoles with the thinner ones the company offers but eventually had to settle on an extra-thin set from another anonymous shoe I had. Minor inconveniences for the ultimate trail shoe. (Incidentally, this is the only reason for a lower rating on comfort. The 290 is still offers superior flexibility and feel for technical terrain than any other shoe I know of). My only complaint is that INOV-8 has continued to broaden their line of shoes without tweaking the shoe on which their company was built.
Sure, theyve come out with some other nice shoes that have either compromised the lug pattern or their classic looking upper design for a cheesy flashy look that better fits in the geeks are cool too running shoe market. Fortunately, with the increased popularity in fell type trail shoes, the options have grown as well. With the emergence of great shoes like the New Balance 800 and the Montrail Highlander, its really hard to justify taping up ankles and changing insoles for a trail shoe anymore. Im waiting for INOV-8 to tweak this shoe to perfection but by observing their strategy for growth in the past couple of years, I just dont see that happening.
So now Ive retired my MudRoc 290s and will always hold them dear to my running heart as my first love. Ill even take them out for a spin once in a while for good ole times sake, but am now very content with my latest flings. I just hope a marketer from INOV-8 happens to read this review and is inspired enough to reissue this shoe that was almost perfect. It would be ashamed if they didnt, because everyone else seems to be determined to perfect what INOV-8 started.

I've run 13 ultras of 100 miles under 24 hours and I am always trying new shoes, and until today the best Gore-Tex trail shoes for me is the Roclite 312 GTX. Its super light, very comfortable, great cushioning, and more. In 2 week I will be running the Marathon des Sables (150 miles) in the Sahara Desert and off course I will run on my 312 GTX. Inov-8 truly makes a great shoe. Note: I am NOT a sponsor runner for Inov-8.

Parkour Prodigy -
Inov has really hit the quality bulls-eye with the 320 PK's. They offer major shock absorption in the heel area to help dampen the force of a botched landing. However there is very little padding or shock absorption near the balls of the feet and the toes which allow a much more precise connection to the ground. This allows for the traceur (one who practices Parkour) to have more control when moving across his environment.
These things have amazing grip quality while still remaining flexible, however for the first days use there won't be much traction but once the sticky-rubber wears in slightly it will begin to grip like no other shoe you've ever worn.
The shoes also fit very tightly, which is a great thing, as it prevents your foot from sliding or moving around within the shoe.
Bottom line, if you're into Parkour or other methods of efficient urban movement, there's no other shoe I've seen thus far that offers as much grip, stability, and flexibility.
So if you're a traceur (or want to start the challenge to become one) buy these shoes.
Very satisfied customer.

Great trail running shoes!
I got these shoes to run in the California Mountains for 4 months. They fit perfectly and I do not have a wide or narrow foot--just average. Though I did get a 7.5 rather than my normal size of 8.5 based on online reviews. They are light and very flexible-perfect for xc racing but also great for everyday long runs in the woods (which I used them for). They dont slip on rocks, woodchips, and various other terrain and they allow you to keep moving when reg running shoes cause you to slow down (yes I ran the same trail numerous times with these shoes and then reg. running shoes...these win) I def highly recommend these...just wear old socks when you run with these in the heavy dust and ultra soft, deep dirt. And try not to run with them on pavement...they are light racers. They are not supposed to have all the comfort of reg running shoes but of trail shoes where grass and dirt are your comfort.

Great Trail Shoes -
Wear 9.5 regular shoes, 10 for running shoes, 10.5 for these. 10 were too tight around the toe box. The web/lacing system provides a good fit around the midfoot and is similar to the Asics Trail Attack (but not as tight). The profile is low. The sole is aggressively treaded with sticky rubber. The heel rubbed a little underneath my ankles until broken in. For me, this is the best Inov-8 trail training shoe. The Mudroc is good for fell/off-road and the Roclite felt a little too much like running shoes for my taste. I have used Brooks Cascadia, Asics Trail Attack, and New Balance 873 and these have the lowest profile (and least cushioning) if you are concerned about ankle sprains. At the same time, I would not use these for running on pavement or hard packed trails without rocks or roots. The other shoes are more responsive for that terrain.

Great shoe, but does run small -
I own two other pairs of Inov-8 shoes and love them. I ordered this model in the same size as the others and it is definitely a full size smaller than the others. Perhaps it's because the others are from the Roclite series and the fit is different with the F-lite line. Just a guess. I had to return them and reorder the next size up, but Zappos has been great with handling that.
