686 is built around the elements of skate and snow. When Michael Akira West, a progressive street skateboarder, stepped onto a snowboard back in 1985, the concept of actually skating on the snow was something entirely new. Throughout the following years after that first experience, Mike worked and rode at the local mountain in Big Bear; using punk, rap and jazz music as well as his collection of sneakers and vintage clothing as forms of inspiration. After finishing business school at the University of Southern California, Mike realized that if he was going to do something on his own, it should start when he had nothing to lose. Little did he know how successful his idea would be.
On November 13, 1992, the 686 clothing company was formed. The 686 name comes from a crucial date in the life of Mike's grandmother (June 6th, 1986) and adds up to his age when he started the company. Since the beginning, 686 has been all about providing the adult and youth riding community innovative and fashionable outerwear and technical clothing inspired directly from the same Los Angeles urban and artistic principles it was founded upon. The company's "more than you expected" philosophy of providing progressive and fashion forward adult and kids’ snowboarding clothing designs is widely known and highly regarded.
686 kid’s clothing line has brought everything innovative about the 686 brand to youth snowboarding apparel. The technology used in 686 youth apparel is the same technology used in 686 adult apparel, giving kids the opportunity to shred just like their older counterparts. Kids’ snowboarding apparel will never be the same.
Products like the trademarked SMARTY® line of removable 3-in-1 liners, the trademarked TIMES® line of limited edition co-branded products, the trademarked ACC® line of collaborative artist projects, the trademarked PLEXUS® line of minimalist shell technology, the patented Toolbelts™ line of functional belts, and technical fabric and waterproof innovations all make up the 686 name. Being independently rider-owned and operated, as well as an obsession to make products progressively unique, is what 686 is all about.

Nice hoodie!
This is a comfortable and attractive item that is distinguished from many other hoodies by its fun design and colors. Fit is loose but not sloppy and it is medium weight. Goes with every color well (but not so well with prints!). Fabric is soft and cozy.

So Comfortable!
I have these in black, and they were such a great investment! They are very warm and look great on.
The inner liner is extremely comfortable. I haven't had the need to take the liner out yet, so I'm not sure how the pants feel without the liner. Unless it was 70 degrees out, I'd leave the liner in because it feels really soft on my legs.
The only thing I don't like about these pants is that the zipper on the liner sometimes starts to unzip. When I try to quickly put the pants on in the car, sometimes my leg misses the liner and goes in between the pant and the outside of the liner. No big deal though, just re-zip and I'm on the slopes!

Different belt with all the tools -
I think this belt is cute. It has all the basics for us women. I especially like the little tools and how they are conveniently placed. If I have an emergency, all I have to do is take off my belt. And the bottle opener is a huge plus.

I bought this as a gift for my son...I know he'll love it... However, the sizing seems to run big. I'm sure I'll be sending it back for a smaller one. The shirt is great though!

Great pants -
These pants looked good online. So I took the risk and bought them. They fit great, look great (they're much greener than they are in the picture) and are super comfy. They're a little bulky with the liner in, but I’m sure when it’s below zero that liner will be great. They have all the right vents and pockets, etc. 686 just does outerwear right.

Great Pants -
They are very comfortable and surprisingly warm for such a lightweight pant. I really recommend them. The Fabric is excellent. I spilled some flax oil on them last night and it wiped right off, not even leaving a mark.

Gr8 Boarding Pants -
I got the gray tweed ones and they are kewl. Super heavy duty boarding pants, for really cold days these seem like they will be well worth the money and they are way comfortable. Love the zip in and out lining for warmer days and they are not to short (I notice many boarding pants are too short) but they are not way long either. Money well spent. Can't wait to go boarding.

 | | I just wanted to respond to e-mail and say thank you so much for the shipping upgrade!!! I didn't realize I was getting a shipping upgrade until this morning when I logged in to get the tracking number for my order and I wanted to order another pair of shoes. I thought to myself, "Hey wait! I'm not supposed to receive my shoes until sometime next week!”, but it is so wonderful to receive them sooner. I ordered them around 9pm or 45 after 9 and I'm in Atlanta, GA. I just love Zappos.com so much! I've been shopping with you all for about 2 yrs. now and you all never disappoint me. You all are very prompt in crediting a return. Zappos.com took a pair of shoes back that I had worn - which were very
uncomfortable - without any problem. Although the brands I like are never on sale, it's no problem because I don't have to worry about calling different stores to find the shoe & size I need or want or driving there. I just point, click, and send and my shoes are on my doorstep the next day. You all put a much needed smile on my face today. P.S. My new shoes are very cute and comfortable. Best wishes!!! | | ~ , March 17 2008
