During the 1980’s, Anuschka® handbag’s founder, Swapan Basu chanced upon the opportunity to make hand painted accessories; he quickly accepted and sought the help of his best friend and wife, Roma. In 1984 she began designing Anushcka’s® signature hand painted bags all the while developing and refining the method of painting over the years. Today the perfected process used on their handbags is a closely guarded family secret. Their son Bhaskar wanted to keep the family business alive, and through his vision Basu Corporation was founded and in the year 2000 sold its first Anuschka® handbag. Bhaskar encouraged the use of bold new designs to push the handbag company into mainstream fashion.
Given the extent of the process used, it was hard to find artists that were willing to spend hours in a factory painting these elaborate designs on handbags. When faced with the challenge, Anuschka’s® co-founder, Roma, set out to look for unemployed youths with a basic sense of art and an eagerness to make an honest living. Through her search she recruited a handful of boys and girls who were either unemployed, socially backward or barely making minimum wage. Today, Anuschka® continues to afford these young artists the chance to make a good living and provide for their family through painting handbags.
Translated, Anuschka® means “like no other.” The first time you lay eyes on these truly unique handbags, you will undoubtedly agree that that is the perfect descriptor of this line of hand painted bags. Anuschka® handbags are crafted from superior quality soft cow leather. The line features a wide array of bags and accessories, ranging from cosmetic cases and checkbook holders to everyday totes and evening bags. Every one of Anuschka’s® handbags are decorated with a selection of abstract and natural scenes all depicted in muted colors in a variety of shades and hues. Through this process, each handbag is transformed into a one of a kind object of timeless art.

I received this "wallet" and was so pleased! The hand painting was beautiful, leather is so soft, and there are many compartments to keep everything organized. I can carry this by itself to do errands, etc. Pleased with every Anuschka I have purchased.

I really like this bag. I have just enough room to carry my essentials-wallet, checkbook, medicine and cell phone, plus a few smaller items. I put my car keys in the outer zip pocket so they are handy to get to. I have had a lot of comments on how pretty this bag is.

If you want lovely design in a functional piece, this is the clutch wallet for you. The colors are truly represented in this piece, as lovely or more so in person. A tasteful design by Anuschka for gifting to those not quite up to some of the more Art Deco designs that they offer but still desiring something unique in their purse.

I think this is the perfect wallet. It is very attractive and functional, with lots of room inside for credit cards, insurance cards, cash, receipts, etc... Plus it has a clear pocket for displaying your driver's license. I love it.

This bag is PERFECT. Looks smallish, but fits everything you could possibly need - it's really comfortable to carry; soft leather, and I always get inquiries about where I got it and how they can get one! Great little travel bag!
I purchased this so I could have just a light travel wallet to take with on trips and not have to drag my huge bag. Very light, yet stylish and holds everything you need when you are on the move traveling. I also have an Anuschka handbag that is wonderful - very well crafted items.

I just received my wallet, my first time purchasing Anuschka, I am extremely impressed; it is very beautiful and functional as well. If you are like me, and run mainly on cash, you have probably found that it is hard to find a wallet to fit your paycheck, without the snap popping open, this wallet is a great size, with lots of compartments, and room, will fit all of your stuff. I have been looking for the right one for awhile now, I found it! Slides into bag easily and is not bulky. Highly recommended, I am also considering a handbag to match. Zappos is awesome as always.

This bag is much larger than it looks in the photo. The leather is like butter and the artwork contains a wonderful rainbow of colors. I never get tired of looking at the beautiful and unique designs. I love that it has outside pockets; great for cell phone, keys and any other quick items you may need. I am now sold on Anuschka and plan on getting the matching wallet.

I love this wallet!
This wallet is the right size for me. It has a good sized change compartment and it's just plain beautiful. I also bought the matching mini tote and you won't believe the compliments I've been getting for both. As for Zappos, I love the way you display the wallet with a model and the additional views so you know up front all of the features. And the free overnight shipping is awesome.

What a fantastic handbag!! It is so much more beautiful than the picture online! My daughter gave this to me to use when I go to Rome this winter since a cross over bag would be much easier to carry. Lots of interior room and I love how the zipper extends to both ends of the bag. Soft leather, vibrant paint. Dramatic!!
