THE MEANING OF LIFE
Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.
During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.
Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.

Marmot Furlong Vest -
Great looking vest, very comfortable, good for chilly weather. Hood and faux fur really make the vest! Runs small, so if you are looking for more room, be aware that you should order a size up.

The definitive sweaty back solution -
I bought this backpack on a whim, realizing that my current backpack was causing constant sweat on my lower back. I always carry my 17" Mac book pro in a neoprene case, which rests right against my back. After packing up from work, the computer is warm, making extra heat on my back. This backpack solved everything. The bag stays on my back where I want it, and is just big enough to fit my laptop in it. The buckles stay in place, and are easily changed. I hope this bag lasts forever!

Good looking shoe. Makes my size 9.5 look smaller. These shoes are narrow compared to other Keen shoes. My foot is a AA and they fit me nice and snug. My foot usually swims in other shoes, but these are comfortable. My heel has been bothering me for weeks, put these on right out of the box and heel pain is gone (at least while I have them on). I have to wear inserts in all my shoes so keep that in mind if you are looking for support. These probably wont be a candidate for you if you want support without an insert. Yes, Id buy them again!

Wonderful choice!
I purchased the jacket before a trip to Italy for a family reunion. When I arrived there, two other members of the family were wearing their Marmot Precips and raving about them. It didn't take me long to see why... torrential downpours in Turin - and we were all completely dry! It's the best purchase I've made in a long time - and I'm glad I bought it from Zappos. I received it less than 24 hours after I placed the order. Thanks Zappos!

This is really a nice featherweight jacket. It's versatile. I wear it to work, to the store and even jog in it! It's great for Oregon outdoorsy activities where rain can turn to sun in no time. Then I can just fold it up and stash it in my bag. It's a great jacket! Just what I've been looking for for a long time. It was a little pricey but it's the nicest jacket of this type I've come across and I'm happy with it despite the price tag.

This jacket perfectly fits my needs for a stylish, waterproof, lightweight, packable rain coat. It is both dressy and casual. I bought a small, but would normally wear a medium. Zappos is still the best for range of products and customer service!!!

Decent lightweight fleece -
Great bonfire color; decent for fall mornings. Not wind or water resistant. Marmot changed their "zip-in" style of zippers a few years ago, so if you have an older Marmot shell, you may have some problems using newer zip-in linings. I was able to retrofit the zipper on this fleece pretty easily to zip-in with a Marmot ski shell I purchased around 1999-2000 (but don't expect that you can necessarily do the same). The sleeve loops are still in the proper place for attachment with the older shells. I use this fleece by itself for dry days when it's down to about 45-50. Any lower than that and my Marmot Sharp Point soft shell comes out.

Stylish but practical jacket -
Very chic in appearance with a sporty look too. Great rain jacket and windbreaker. Perfect for these warmer winter days in New York when the heavy down coat is just too heavy and bulky. The fit is very flattering. Quality is very obvious in the stitching, material and cut.

This one's a keeper!
After trying both The North Face Grace and this coat, I found I liked this one better. This is designed to be a standalone coat while lighter TNF trench necessitates taking extra layers for when the temperature drops. It's also more slimming because it's streamlined - it looks like a lady coat with a shawl collar when the hood is down. The trick is to go at least one size down and loosen the belt if needed. I normally wear a medium or an 8 and found the XS a little snug on the chest but otherwise fits fine elsewhere. Another advantage over TNF jacket: velcro closures can secure the cuffs and the zipper flap, great for staying warm and dry when the wind is howling. The only tradeoff? As it's a warmer coat, it's much less compressible than TNF which can be rolled up into a small ball (weight-wise, however, Marmot's Destination coat is only 5 ounces heavier). Overall, a classic, well-made coat which should last for years.

Real soft and warm but the sleeves are very narrow and it was overall too short for me at 5'10". The thumbholes were 1/3 of the way to my elbows. This was a Medium; I wear an 8-10. Too bad, this fluffy polartech is great stuff.

Marmot Precip -
I bought this jacket to replace a 5 year old Marmot Precip which is getting pretty grubby. The light weight and packability is a big plus for me, as I've found that I usually spend more time with it in my pack than wearing it. The new jacket seems to be made a little nicer than the old. I hope it serves me as well.

Outdoor gear with comfort and style!
What a concept! Women's outdoor gear designed and tested by real women! This stuff has come a long way in the 20+ years since I last looked. This jacket is surprisingly comfortable and looks great! The torso is tapered for a female frame without bulk and it comes in wonderful colors! I love the Cabernet shade! Sure beats the bulky old forest green Gore-tex one I bought a zillion years ago! Nice pockets with zippers. Zips up tight if needed, but feels so light. I just can't get over how much it offers without bulk! Thank you!

Sent it Back -
I was looking for a rain shell to wear to work to keep me dryer than my jacket shell does. Though this jacket looked nice online, but it was absolutely shapeless. It is really a trapeze shape, which I don't like. The design was not up to par for a Marmot. I went with the North Face Grace jacket instead.
Zappos was amazing as ever, though, and I am a customer for life. Thanks!!!

Attractive coat that goes casual and slightly dressy -
Nice coat that you can wear with jeans. Can be dressed up a bit too. Pretty warm, comfy in the wind and down to freezing. Has velcro and two way zip. Arms aren't too long and you can cinch in the waist with the button band on the back. Does run a bit large, I usually wear a small and an extra-small fits well.

Awesome soft shell from my favorite company!
Marmot is my favorite outdoor apparel company by far, and I have 3 other Marmot jackets in my collection to prove it.
The Gravity is a GREAT looking jacket; I still cannot believe how great it looks. I originally bought the North Face Apex Bionic as a "go-everywhere" soft shell jacket. But the fit was terrible, the Medium had too much room, and the Small was way too small. So I returned it and bought the Gravity jacket.
Out of my other Marmot jackets (Adamant, ATV, and a fleece), this has got to be the best looking and fitting jacket ever. It fits and looks much better than the Apex Bionic, and the athletic fit is just right for me. It has an ultra high-quality feel to the jacket, it is a bit stiff at first, but it will soften up after a while. I am in Western NY where the temperature drops down to below 20 degrees with wind blowing, and this jacket protects me well. And it will be a great layering piece for when I go skiing.
Overall I am extremely happy that I chose this jacket over the North Face jacket, the Gravity looks, fits, feels, functions many times better!

Light and dry -
I've had this jacket for over a year, and use it for hiking. It's lightweight and waterproof. It's not Gore-Tex, so the pit zips are essential. I've found that I get overheated in it if I hike with the hood up, so I wear a rain hat when hiking. This coat is much lighter than my winter Gore-Tex parka, so I use it 3/4 seasons. Its also a great windbreaker.

I ordered a pair of blue/white shoes for my sister. I ordered them a size larger as suggested. I am amazed at the speed of the shipping...I was worried about it making it here in time for her b-day, but they literally arrived in one day. The shoe fit her perfectly; the size suggestion is dead on. Thanks Zappos for doing such a great job, from the ease of your site to the speed of your shipping.
