Just Not Right -
Cute boot, but just too short in shaft length and too loose around calf. I ordered up 1/2 size, even though I'm closer to narrow than medium and perhaps that's why it was so loose around ankle. Because the boots are too loose everywhere else, I will send these back and try again. On the plus side, ordered at 7 P.M. and delivered 2 P.M. next day - bravo Zappos!

Rugged but not comfy -
These are great looking boots and well designed for winter conditions, but they are very stiff and I can't imagine wearing them all day without getting sore feet and blisters. They are also so small. I got a 1/2 size bigger than I usually wear and they still feel tight and uncomfortable. I don't think I'm going to chance buying the next size up. I'll just order a different brand and see if they are softer on the inside.

These boots look great, but the sole is very flat and doesn't offer much support. They are good for walking in the snow, but after wearing them all day, my feet are exhausted; they don't offer any arch support. They wear very loose though I have narrow feet. They are not truly waterproof, but are water-resistant. I wear them and like them, but they aren't quite perfect!

This boot is extremely comfortable. I was looking for a casual winter boot for daily wear and needed quality, warmth, comfort and looks. This boot meets all of my requirements and expectations. Zappos originally sent me the wrong color so I had to re-order, but I forgive you Zappos, as you are all so nice to deal with and so quick about shipping! I highly recommend this boot...

Hard to find this style with desired function!
I have searched high and low for a nice looking (pointed or squared toe) boot with a heel that I can actually walk in and is comfortable (and not a full boot). Why do our shoes have to be comfort OR style?? Comfort = ugly toe (rounded) super low heel OR style = tall pointy heel that clacks when you walk on tile & hurts? This is the best of all worlds w/ weather proofing too. NOT BAD...Browns looks a little nicer in the photo, but comfortable. Don't seem worthy of the $ (more in the $40 range), but can't find them anywhere else!!! Run a tad big maybe, I just wear boot socks. May order in black a 1/2 size smaller.

A very good pair of boots for the winter!
I have been looking for a good pair of wedge winter boots since November and these are very good. I live in upstate New York with a lot of snow and these have held up well so far and they are warmer than they look. The only thing that I would warn future buyers from this shoe company is that they run very big (in length, not in width for the normal one at least... I could stick my whole hand in between my foot and the actual heel of the boot), so I had to go down a whole size smaller, but other than that, a very great buy! Those Canadians know what they’re doing!

I normally wear a 7-1/2 wide. I ordered a 7-1/2 double wide and could not even get my foot into it with a thin sock. I also tried a double wide 8 (to allow for a thick sock). I could get my foot in, but only with a thin sock. Once the boot was on, it felt very stiff and uncomfortable. Back they went! I'll try a different brand next time.

Love them, love the quality. I tried several other pairs before settling on these. The brown is the "perfect" brown, too. They do run really big, so go down a whole size.

Very pleased with boot - Beautiful quality - dark chocolate color. To me looks less chunky in person than in the photo. Polar fleece type lining makes for warmth. Has some sort of non skid marking on the sole inside. How's that for detail?
The thick rubber heel makes a HUGE difference (compared to typical veener plastic heel bases) to joints - & outside wear on boot. These babies are going to last years. Smooth design makes my size 10s look sleek... the ankle buckle pulls the eye as a design feature, but actually is practical: it has velcor on the inside to pull the leather in for those who have smaller ankles. I may be the only reviewer of boots who has FAT calves - knew going in that my 16" would not close all the way with these boots (and they don't) - but I don't care, because the boot is so great (it only will take losing weight to get them to fit. ha).
Bought these for the water proof quality & obvious integrity of the company. Had disaster with UGG Waverly's - these are incredibly better for the same investment price. Why pay more for La Canadiennes? These cover all the bases. Thanks Zappos!!

Warm and narrow -
I have pretty narrow feet, so I was actually quite happy reading reviews saying that these are pretty narrow shoes. Talk about narrow! These are extremely narrow shoes! I can wear them with a medium thick sock, but warmer socks won't do it. I kept them because they are warm and have proved to be waterproof. If you have a wider foot, go with their "D" width instead of "B" marked as medium. They are also narrow in the leg part, but that I actually like since I have always problems with finding narrow boots. I am able to tuck my jeans in. Overall, a good buy.

Second pair of Bastien boots that don't fit -
This Joan boot was the first style of Bastien boots I've tried, I also tried the Angela style. Neither boot would zip up over my calves, however, from the description and measurements they should have fit perfectly. Unfortunately, had to send both pairs back. I won't be ordering Bastien boots again. However, LOVE Zappos service!!!

Angela was the second style of Bastien boots I've tried, the first style was the Joan. Neither boot would zip up over my calves, however, from the description and measurements they should have fit perfectly. Unfortunately, had to send both pairs back. I won't be ordering Bastien boots again.

Light, warm, flimsy?
The boot was extremely warm and very lightweight when wearing it around, but after wearing it for a month or so, I found the bottom fur lining started to peel up, which got rather uncomfortable when walking. Adjusting it temporarily solves the problem, but it's still somewhat flimsy. All in all, a better buy than Uggs and very much lighter.

Love these boots!
Very cute winter boot that keeps my feet warm and dry. I've tested them out in several inches of snow and have been very pleased. Large enough to tuck jeans into if you want. I did order a full size smaller and they are still a little loose.

Too small!
I was really excited about these boots but was sadly disappointed. I ordered my normal size and they were so small I could hardly get my foot in them. I honestly thought they had sent the wrong size. I couldn't get them zipped up my calf either like the others.

These are great. I had to walk through 18 inches of snow in these and my feet stayed dry! They are very comfortable and wear well. I highly recommend these boots!

Finally! A winter boot I like!
I just received these, so I haven't worn them outside yet/for long, but I have been looking a long time for a pair of winter boots that don't resemble roadkill (all those fuzzy boots out there are hardly appropriate for a professional woman in her 30s) and that are wearable indoors and out as needed. These may not be THE most attractive boots I've ever owned, but they're the best looking winter boots I've ever owned and I'm not embarrassed to wear them into the office. They aren't bulky and heavy like most and I can wear them UNDER my jeans (I hate tucking in pants/jeans). These work for me! Well worth the hunt.

I order three different styles of Bastien's, returned two pairs, kept this pair and needed a half size larger on each of them. Love these boot -- very warm, good traction and good looking.

If I tried I probably could have put both my legs in this boot! Super wide calf - which I guess is great if you're tucking in jeans, otherwise you'll look like a swashbuckler pirate, albeit a fashionable one!

Order half size up-Fantastic Boot!
High quality sturdy boot that looks great with professional dress and jeans. This boot is waterproof, wider sturdy heel but slim design-so looks feminine & good for the Seattle climate-will last for years. Frequently I replace the soles on new shoes with a 'super sole' that doesn't wear out and is waterproof-no need to with these boots. Toe is a bit wider box, so better for walking. I returned for a half size up as they fit way too tight for my normal size 9. I have slim feet & calves-they are a little loose around, but perfect with socks. Since leather is so sturdy, will take a little to break in, but then I'm sure they will fit like a glove!

I LOVE THESE BOOTS. 1) I have very thin calves and these boots are the closest fit I've ever gotten (definitely not snug, but at least they don't look goofy on me). 2) They look great, I have size 12 feet and these actually make my feet look good. 3) The color and the leather are both great, the leather is high quality and waterproof! (I tried it, it's true). Get this boot, it is absolutely worth the price tag.
