The story of JanSport bags and apparel begins in 1967 with three friends and their love for the outdoors. Jan Lewis, Murray Pletz and Skip Yowell lived in Seattle when they created their first framepack and the first panel loading daypack. Murray had just won a design contest for "The Best New Use of Aluminum" for the framepack the trio had fabricated in the transmission shop of Skip's uncle. Once climbers on Mount Rainier and other Northwest peaks saw the new pack, they wanted one for themselves. The rest is JanSport history.

My son used this bag on a trip to Euro '08. Just the right size for magazines, electronics, couple of snacks and jacket for flight over. Now he plans to use it for his computer when he goes back to college. He didn't need the comfort pad for the strap but it does have one. As always service was great from Zappos.

Everything you are looking for -
Ordered this in Choc.chip/pink colors; love the combination of colors. Durable; I am a mother of three, can hold all those "extra" items we need. Outside zip pocket, inside compartments, all practical in design. I wanted a summer bag, something to hold all of my items, plus room to spare. I have had a number of compliments as well. Money well spent, will last me, and I love the design.

Jansport backpack -
I bought this backpack for my daughter to match my old backpack from high school (28 yrs old). It doesn't look as well made as mine. It still looks nice and is comfortable. I hope it lasts long.

My daughter loves the Superbreak backpack. It's just the right size for her being that she is small for her age and not everyone in her school will have the same backpack due to the many different designs. I love the Superbreak backpack because it has padding in the back so her books are resting on the padding not her back.

I am very happy with my purchase and with Zappos.com service. This was my first purchase at Zappos.com and I was surprised when the shipping on my order was upgraded at no cost to me. Absolutely amazing - I have ordered MANY things from Zappos, and I have always had superb service. But, I had to write about this backpack because it was the most amazing, drop dead thing I have ever experienced. I placed my order on June 16th at 9:30 pm and on June 17th at 3:30, I walked to the front door to let out the babysitter, and my backpack from Zappos was on the porch. I just about couldn't believe it; never experienced any kind of service like that before. The backpack is cute, cute, cute. My daughter loves it, and I am so thrilled with the price, the service, and the backpack, I almost want to order another one just for a repeat performance. I will always order from ZAPPOS. Have not had a chance to take on trip yet but I like the features: double zippers on main and both end compartments, straps on back and front to tighten/compress pack, two end pockets are long and longer. They actually can meet in middle so if you put much in those it takes room away from main compartment but it also very much helps keep things separated- I believe one of end spaces could easily hold 2-3 pairs of shoes depending on your foot size! Shoulder strap is padded and duffel material heavier quality than most and ALL THIS makes this a keeper for me. Would be excellent large gym bag if you have big lockers or a small weekend bag if you are a good packer. An overnight everything in bag would be best. I tend to over pack! AGAIN VERY NICE.

Lasted 2 yrs of hard NYC use -
Jansport has a lifetime warranty (been great w. my other prod.) and made IN USA. In all fairness I overloaded this bag, slammed it over countless curbs, yanked it over puddles, and yanked it over curbs… so it served me pretty well. No reflective material.

The PERFECT travel bag -
IF you're searching for the perfect day pack or travel bag because you can't be without your "stuff" during the day, this is the bag. Got it in blue and gray, wish they had black when I was buying. It's much cooler and more comfortable than a backpack and holds just the right amount of stuff. Guidebook, phone, water, umbrella, cosmetics, snacks, wallet without feeling at all bulky and it's really comfortable. Only started to get shoulder strain after a long day walking around Amsterdam... and maybe that wasn't the bag?! Overall unqualified recommendation!

The bag was perfect. My boyfriend was looking for something to carry all of his things in. He's a diabetic and needs to have all of his supplies with him. He loves all of the extra pockets and compartments. This bag met the description online and looks great! Very good for a man to carry. He thinks it's wonderful!

Great bag. Well made which means a lot with heavy daily use and constant opening/closing. Would have liked to see more funky choices for the tween age. But in general, great bag and worth the money.

I bought this pack in two other colors (Skulls & Roses: Red & Black and Pink & White) last fall for retuning to University. Now I'm back for one more. I LOVE this pack design. It is everything I need. Comfortable padded straps carry a heavy load evenly, padded back with wicking fabric, durable material and zippers. Zippers are covered with a small rain flap, pack is easy to clean and large enough for a couple of books AND my laptop and more. Front pocket is perfect for smaller essentials. (I only wish it had a water bottle holder) Otherwise it is PERFECT.

I've been using Jansport bags ever since I can remember. My last one finally gave out after 8 years of use to my dismay. I placed my order around 5:30pm with Zappos and received my package the next morning! Excellent service! You can't go wrong with this bag! It's large enough to carry all my textbooks and it's extremely durable. The back is padded which is a plus. It's worth the money.

I really like this bag. I ordered it because my son has one for school and it's lasted him 3 years and has no rips, tears, etc. despite the huge amount of books and other stuff he carries... it just looks nicely worn. So 5 stars for durability. I ordered black and it has just the right mix of professional / hip look. I'm a software engineer so I carry my gear in it. It has loads of room for everything I need. Be aware that though the side padding for a laptop is decent (protective, but not quite as much as I would like) there is no padding on the bottom of the laptop sleeve. This means that your laptop could get banged around on the bottom edge when you set the bag down. So, I keep laptop in a separate padded sleeve that I bought. The price and free shipping it was the best deal I found on this bag after quite a bit of shopping around. Shipping was overnight, for free! That's service!

Big Big Bag -
My daughter started high school this year and decided she wanted a messenger bag instead of a backpack. We ordered this bag because it seemed to have the storage capacity equivalent to a large backpack. We didn't take into account how awkward this would be to carry over your shoulder. She's 5'4" and the bag proved to be too big for her. She was getting bumped and pushed frequently in the crowded hallways. It makes a nice overnight bag, though.

Great Looker But For the Smaller Laptops -
Great looking bag, no doubt. Lots of pockets and storage and very well made. Sturdy. Roomy. However, my Macbook Pro (17") didn’t quite fit in the laptop compartment. That isn’t a huge deal as the main compartment has enough room for the computer and two texts. If you have a lappy 15" or smaller, this is a great bag to have. Plus you can’t beat the price.

Best Backpack Ever!
Everyone in my family as a Jansport backpack. They are big enough to carry books, but not overwhelmingly huge. They offer so many great colors and styles, that everyone can find something they like. Great for little kids and older kids. One of the best backpacks around.

I was afraid this backpack might be too big for my 6-year old to carry to school, but it has worked out perfectly.
We got the "hamster" color, which features skulls. When we got it, we realized that there are also roses in with the skulls that you couldn't see from the picture. Thankfully, my son didn't mind.
