    Mountain Hardwear Paladin Review

    from Eustis, FL

I purchased this pack primarily for school, but also as a pack for my vacation adventures. I have found it to be difficult to use. It opens from the top, and when I slide a textbook or notebook into it, the book catches on the inside pockets and I have to guide it in by hand. I do love that the top pocket has lots of slots and organization pockets for my school supplies (pens, hi-lighters, pencils, and card slots) and I do like the soft internal pocket for sunglasses, where they are safe from crushing, but the top flap gets heavy from that stuff and it doesn't really function well. A pack with an outside, lower pocket for these things would be better for me. I am also disappointed with the outside water bottle pockets, on the sides. Those pockets are not elastic and flexible, they do have compression straps, but the whole system is unwieldy for regular use, I hate having to cinch down a strap around my water bottle to keep it in the pocket. Overall, I would not buy this pack again. And I would not recommend it. I actually bought mine from REI, not Zappos, and I still could return it, but I don't feel good about doing that after I already took it to Hawaii on an adventure. It has some downfalls, but it looks good. That's the best I can say about it now.

Brands I'd also recommend: North Face
