Great purchase, worth the money and more! I pack this backpack full every day before leaving my dorm - laptop, books, gym clothes, food. Fits everything and never looks too big or bulky. I'm fairly small, no wide shoulders, but this pack fits fine (except for some jackets like rain jackets have a tendency to push the straps down my shoulders - not a big problem). Haven't used it for this yet - but great for a day pack for hiking. Only fault is that I cannot fit my 15 in. Macbook with its sleeve on into the laptop sleeve in the backpack. The Macbook itself goes in, but it makes me uncomfortable for it to be uncovered. It does fit fine in the normal part of the backpack, however. Great front pocket - iPod, wallet, Kleenex, gloves, etc. can all comfortably go in there. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a sturdy, for-life, versatile backpack.

I got this backpack as a weekend explorer type bag. And it's perfect. It's small enough to not be tempted to stuff it full of useless stuff, but big enough to keep everything I'd actually want in it. The material feels tough as nails and the construction is solid. I took it on a weekend trip and had it stuffed to the gills and it closed up perfectly every time. This is possibly the best money I've spent on a backpack. If you're looking for a good smallish backpack for school or travel and you don't want the more showy/flashy North Face, this is the one for you.

I got this one recently but overall I have not been very happy with it. I am a somewhat small fellow, and I found the shoulder straps on this bag were very uncomfortable. They might be designed for someone with wider shoulders, as they keep slipping off my shoulders and down my arms. It also turned out to not be very water resistant. Yesterday I was outside in a 20 minute thunderstorm. I ducked under a railway bridge just as the rain began and made sure all the zippers were tightly closed on the bag, then headed out into the rain. Once I got home, though, and I opened it, lots of things were wet, especially near the bottom of the bag. My camera, on top, was dry, but my gear under it was wet, and a couple of books I had are not ever going to be the same.
