Wish I could have kept these-- They're actually kind of neat. The rigid arch and heel assembly looks like it’s totally hard and unbendable, but once your foot is actually on the footbed, you can see how it flexes to accommodate your stride. So it is really really rigid, but it does flex a little bit as you walk. The sizing system is also terrific, because it can accommodate any arch, any shoe size, any heel width. The rigid material ends right at the arch and doesn't extend into the forefoot, so these would be great for someone looking for really firm arch/heel stability while not compromising room in the toe box of a shoe. Unfortunately I'm going to be returning these because I was hoping for something with a little more support under the ball of the foot. The entire forefoot area is just a thin foam. I would recommend wearing these with lace-up shoes, because the heel-and-arch assembly seems to take up a lot of space in a shoe.
