I'm not a runner but I bought these trail running shoes as light weight hiking shoes for hot weather. They're much lighter than the lightest hiking shoes I could find and have good tread. I tested them out on the trail to the top of lower Yosemite Falls (approximately 1 mile up with 1000 feet elevation gain). They were very comfortable with no break in period needed. They are actually more comfortable than any sneakers I have.

These are very nice shoes, lots of people looking at my shoes. These shoes are good for those who have flat footed feet. They are comfortable and very light. I do like them very much except I have to wear thick socks because my feet have high arches.

I stumbled upon this shoe at a sidewalk sale in Corvallis, OR. Alas, said shoe was a half size too small. I came home and ordered the next size up from Zappos and zap! My shoes arrived the next day! I hiked in them all last week at Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. These shoes are so lightweight, that I didn't notice I was wearing them!

I bought these for trail running and running around the neighborhood with my dog. This was my first Montrail shoe, and I'd heard positive reviews from people who've worn the brand before, but this shoe just didn't do it for me. The shoes are comfortable for short runs around my neighborhood, but must have terrible support. My ankles start to kill me after about 3.5 miles, and I've been breaking them in for more than a month now. The soles also haven't done very well on slick surfaces, which would be a no-no if I wanted to take them out on a rocky, damp trail. Cool looking, yes. Good for a couple mile jog, yes. Good for hiking in dry weather, sure. But that's about it. Bummed I spent so much on these.
