Mizuno Wave® Prophecy 2

Easily the best running/tennis shoe I've ever had. My running shoes are my everyday shoes and these are the best.

I have had dozens of pairs of Mizunos over the years, but got stuck on the Wave Creation 12s because I loved them so much. I bought the 13s and they were a huge disappointment to say the least. I sent them back and forked over the additional cash for the Prophecys. Very rarely will I ever write a review but these are simply the best running shoes that I have ever had. I thought they would be bulky based on the pictures, but once you get going in them, they are light and have an amazing cushioned spring to them without sacrificing the stability that I need. I have flat feet and run 35-45 miles a week so I need something durable and these are certainly the shoes to provide all the support I need. The Creations were always good at propelling you forward, but these are in a whole new universe and despite the price, I'll be purchasing a second pair for rotation. Awesome job by Mizuno and it goes without saying that Zappos provided amazing service as usual!

Great pair of running shoes. Most expensive pair I have ever purchased! Light, durable, and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone. It's hard to swallow the price tag but once you get them and run in them; that number fades away.

I did a review of these shoes on Zappos at 100 miles (tracked using Nike+ GPS). I’ve just reached 500 miles (!) and I’m submitting this follow up review. These shoes are amazing. I retract the few less than positive things I had to say previously. Central to anything one can say about these shoes is the 3/4 length Wave Plate midsole. As they have no midsole in the traditional sense made of a material like EVA or Adiprene there is nothing to break down in the way a midsole usually does. Conventional wisdom is to replace a shoe at the 300 mile mark with traditional midsole construction/materials. These shoes, at 500 miles, provide exactly the same neutral cushioning that they did new from the box. Additionally, this shoe is so well constructed that after 500 miles of 75% road, 25% trail there are no visible signs of breakdown in any facet of the shoe aside from minimal wear on the sole (truly, the wear on the sole at 500 miles is minimal: amazing!). Aside from normal dirt and grime picked up along the way they look and act functionally new. When I wrote the 100 mile review I already suspected the wave plate would allow them to last beyond the usual 300 mile mark. I can’t say I seriously imagined they would reach 500 miles. Now that I’m at 500 and the shoes show no signs of being finished I’m curious to see just how long these will go… Stay tuned. Oh, and when I do finally replace them I will definitely do so with another pair of Prophecy’s from Zappos!
