Overall:

Bought these in the Spring of this year, needing to replace a pair of much loved Merrell water sandals. Normally wear a 7-7.5 shoe, but the 6 is what worked, a size down as recommended by other reviewers. Once adjusted, not really that hard of a process, these were easy to take on and off. They really do have one of the nicest footbeds around. I wore them all over Scottish, Dutch, and English cities this summer and they beat out my Asolo cross-trainers with custom orthotics (because I have plantar fasciitis issues) placed in them. I think you can probably put another footbed in these Mions, but never needed to! They really are great, even out of water! My toes tend to hit the top, but the these shoes were so comfortable I ceased noticing it after a very short while. Thanks, Zappos, for carrying these strange sandal shoes. I hope you continue to carry them!

I live in them!I'm so sad that they seem to have stopped making Mion's. I've had my pair of current sandals for 3-4 years now. They still work just fine! I drop them in the washer from time to time to restore color/odor then good to go for a few more months! And oh! How diverse their uses. I work in electrics and lighting for films, and they stick with me a) no metal b)stick to anything wet or dry, rain storm, sweat, dirt, rocks... ANYTHING! c) the curved bottom makes it easy to jump/get traction on small or irregularly shaped objects d)They keep up with this New Yorker at least 2-5 miles a day spring through the first snow. They're also the only work shoe I've found that doesn't leave my feet sore at the end of 4 straight days of work. I'm looking for more before they're all gone!

I was looking for shoes to wade through creeks on hikes with my husband and found these goofy looking shoes. I ended up ordering a pair for me and my husband and I’m glad I read other reviews and ordered a size smaller. I was still leary due to these not coming in a wide size and I wear an 11EE... Bought the 10B and after manipulating the laces, they fit perfect. I haven’t been through any creeks yet, but I wear them while changing the water in my yard and have been on a couple day hikes. The comfort is unbelievable, but the one thing I was worried about is true. Being they are waterproof, when your foot sweats... there’s no place that absorbs the sweat so your feet are kinda pruny by the end of the day, but surprisingly they don’t stink. My husband had to return his though, he wears a 13 and ordered a 12. The length was great, but he has narrow feet so he couldn’t get them tight enough, but said they were extremely comfortable, even though they didn’t fit.

"Moon sandals"I was kind of disappointed in these. I was attracted to the funky look and thought it would be nice to try something different. They are not very comfortable however, kind of a hard plasticky feel. The fit with the elastic cinch rope was not great either. They are also much more puffy on your feet than they look in the pictures. I'll give them an A for trying something new, but I think they need to go back to the drawing board.

Wow!I ordered the shows on Weds. and they arrived the next day. That is service!! One of them seems bigger than the other but both are extremely comfortable. My kids thought they were ugly at first but now think they are cool.

Pretty amazing - Originally, my husband was looking at these for our trip overseas. I saw them and said "Man- are you SURE? Those are super dorky and kinda ugly". After reading the reviews we agreed to give them a shot and be nerds and get matching shoes. I wear an 8 1/2-9 and ordered an 8 and they're great! They are the most comfy shoes EVER- it's like walking on balloons! The insoles are amazing! Dorky or not, but guess what? I got compliments on my neat shoes- I thought they looked like Honda SUV's! Hahaha. My husband has had foot surgery, so after numerous attempts the good folks at Zappos couldn't figure out a size to fit him. They are a bit snug on the top of the foot in places... BUT I am won over by the Mions and am going to proudly bounce forth in them by myself!

Crazy looking shoes!They look crazy but they are comfy! The footbed is cushy. The lacing/string system is hard to adjust and does not give you any extra to adjust if your feet swell or are wide/big.

Still not sure...If you are patient enough to reconfigure the lacing on these, you've won half the battle. I probably wouldn't have had to work so hard at adjusting them had I paid attention to the other reviewers who stated that the shoes run VERY LARGE. They do. Definitely order a size down from your usual. The insoles on these are incredible, they really do feel like walking on marshmallows after you have worn them for a few weeks. I get stopped constantly by people wanting to know where I got them. Still, the lacing is a pain and in order for the shoe to fit correctly, you pretty much have to work on it to some degree every time you put your feet in them. If these didn't have a back and were just a slide, it would eliminate that. I have never worn them for water sports, but they are very grippy on pavement, rocks, clutch pedals, you name it. The insole is great, they are a unique-looking shoe, but overall pricey for what they are.

Amazingly comfortable - ...until it gets wet. I was so disappointed with this shoe when I started getting blisters after coming out of the water. I was on vacation in the Bahamas and had to shell out $ for flip flops just to walk around comfortably. If you're not planning on going in the water, it is amazingly comfortable and you can walk around for hours sightseeing, etc. But I bought them for water sports, so it was an ultimate disappointment.

Very unusual, sloppy fit - I bought these so I'd have a pair of sandals to do about anything in during the summer...problem is, they really don't fit well enough to do anything too rigorous in. They're interesting, but the fit is prohibitive.

Awesome - I am on my feet a bit walking throughout the work day and I was looking for a comfortable shoe to wear during the summer. I usually end up with a light sandal that falls apart by the end of the summer. These shoes are durable, comfortable, and look great. The first reaction everyone in the office asked me was "those are some funky shoes and they look comfortable… where do I get them?" After a week of wearing them, I have zero complaints and my feet don't kill me at the end of the day. The lace took me about 5 minutes to get used to, but once they were adjusted right, I don't think I'll have to touch it again.

TOO COOL!!!I purchased these shoes with several requirements in mind. First, they had to be cool and waterproof, since we're going on a cruise to Mexico; second, they had to be comfortable, since I'll be on my feet a lot; and third, they had to be supportive, since I've had several back and neck surgeries, and always have some degree of back pain and neck stiffness. Then, of course, I wanted shoes that were at least somewhat attractive. I got all of those things and more when I purchased these sandals. I began "breaking them in" (really more a habit than a necessity!) as soon as the thermometer hit the 40 degree mark in Anchorage, and I've received nothing but positive comments every time I wear them. I was in a local sports apparel/equipment store the other day, and a customer approached me, asking if I'd bought the shoes there. When I answered "no", she begged to know where I had purchased them, because she wanted a pair just like them. These shoes are a winner! These shoes do run large. I usually wear a 10-1/2 so I purchased a size 10 (they only came in full sizes) and the shoes are still a bit loose on me after I tightened them as much as I could.

Tough to make perfect...but worth the effort - Once you pull the cord through the sole, you find the perfect fit. They really are comfortable but do need to be tuned.

Very comfortable - I purchased these as a pair of sandals to wear, so I can keep up with my young children. They were comfortable the minute I put them on. I worried because my feet are so wide, they still fit well. I look forward to summer chasing my kids from the lake, pool, and to park with the same pair of shoes. The appearance of these shoes are not for the self conscience. They are odd, but the comfort makes up for it.

Wow, awesome comfort!I live in these sandals and have four other pairs of Mion’s. The lacing is so innovative and functional. I hope they never stop making these cool shoes! Very sticky sole. I'd recommend ordering down a size. Good luck!

Great but be careful ordering - I am a sailor and have lived in the Mions for the last two months - no other shoes! I have bad feet; need toe protection for being on deck, and high non slip, non marking performance. The Mion's have met the test!They are comfortable! The "lacing system" takes time to learn but once done so is easy to use.They do come a full size larger than marked. I bought the wrong size (should have been a 9 for a 10) but have survived however sometimes (during strenuous activity) my big toe pops out of the front cover. Tight lacing resolves this.I usually must wear orthotics with my shoes but do not have to wear them with the Mions. Quite remarkable.

These are some seriously bizarre looking sandals. They are very puffy and make your feet look like they are trapped in a marshmallow cage. That being said, they ARE very comfortable. They have a very cushy sole which is oddly supportive at the same time and the lacing system allows the "cage" to cradle the foot without any pressure points. The lacing is a bit tricky to get right initially. This shoe runs 1/2 to 1 full size large. I'm generally an 8.5-9. I got the 8 and they fit perfectly. Oh, and they are squeaky as others have mentioned in the reviews.

Easy Fix for Shoe Squeak - These are AWESOME - THE most comfortable active shoe I've ever owned! Others mention the squeak - just pull out the innersole and rub the bottom of it with (dry) bar soap. That'll stop the squeak. May take 2 applications, but it cures it. In 5 months, I have hiked mountains, waded creeks, trekked through sand, and walked on city pavement and these shoes have been a dream. Now that it's cold, I'm wearing them with SmartWool socks for the winter. Just keep reaching for these every time I need an active shoe. Get comments all the time - people think their weirdly "cool"!!

COMFY...Strange...but COMFY - I ordered these with a bit of trepidation...the look of them is hard to get used to. I bought the "pearlized black" which are more purple then black, but other than that, I LOVE them!! I have had many comments on them, all of them, to my surprise, loved the look of the "weird sandals". One guy said they looked like "..purple aliens were trying to eat my feet...", but he thought they were cool! Anyways, as for comfort, they couldn't be more comfy!!! They have a super thick cushion, and the ergomorphic, or whatever, footbed felt good. It didn't conform to my foot as much as I thought it would from the description, but it did take the shape of my foot, and I feel very secure in the shoe. The adjustment system is awesome, they don't rub at all, and they didn't take that much time to fiddle with. I have Chacos (which are awesome too!), and it took me longer to fiddle with their straps than with these. Another great thing is how light they are. It doesn't feel like you have shoes on at all!! They are super light, super comfy, and super secure and supportive...amazing! I will buy another pair for sure! The only thing wrong with them is that they run BIG. I wear a 7 1/2 - 8, and since they come in whole sizes only, I bought the 7's and they fit a little (just a tiny bit really) big. so a full size smaller is probably perfect. I did have the problem of squeakiness that I read here in the reviews as well, but to a much lesser extent. It may sound strange, but they seem squeakier at home, then outside in the world. I wake up, put them on and don't take them off until I go to bed usually, and have been doing this since I got them a month ago. And in that time I have found that I notice the squeakiness at home, but don't really hear it when I'm out and about. It may be I'm oblivious, but I haven't had any comments on the sound, just they style. All in all, awesome sandal, dry or wet, and the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned, bar none! And Zappos, of course, is the BEST! I'd be willing to pay more, if I had to, just to buy from Zappos, but since they have awesome customer service and price matching, I don't have to! Thanks Zappos!!!

Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned!They feel like walking on pillows. They're also bizarre looking (I have the aluminum color, which looks like it comes from outer space), but who cares? These are the most comfortable shoes I've owned in my life. I'm about to buy my second pair in a different color.
