I bought these shoes to help support my feet for the six miles I walk each day. I figured since Merrell makes such good hiking boots, their shoes might be good too. They are! They are a little hiking-boot-looking (not extremely stylish), but they are incredibly functional and comfortable for people who are on their feet a lot.

Bought these for a vacation/business trip to upstate NY and Vermont. I like to hike and walk around a bit. These proved to be very comfortable with good traction on all kinds of terrain in the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains. They past muster for the mountain resort variety of business casual. They are well made, true to size and easy to care for. I'd give the shoes five stars for style if the neon green trim wasn't quite so neon, but little matter. Zappos' service is always excellent.

I must say these shoes have been incredible. I bought them right before leaving on a 3-month trip to Argentina, and barely had any time to break them in, but they have been nothing but comfortable. I've been wearing them solid for 1 month (lots of walking). Great support and still cushy feel, durable and reasonably sharp looking. I can wear these with jeans and not look like a total scrub. Size seems right on. Only qualm: they smell pretty rank now -- need to invest in some odor-proof insoles or just foot powder, but I imagine that's a problem with any shoe. Or just my smelly pies.

Long time Zappos customer, first review! I have to concur with another reviewer who always thought of Merrell shoes were best paired with unfashionable tourists sporting fanny packs. Hold your horses! Merrell...where have you been?! I'm looking great with these, some jeans & my Patagonia jacket. These were my first Merrell and I actually might purchase the boot version of this shoe. Great look & comfortable!

I love these shoes (contemplating buying another pair). Very comfortable. I wear them on a concrete floor for several hours at a time and my feet feel great. They are warm and feel durable and I would recommend them to anyone.

I am very impressed with these shoes! I needed something supportive for work. I work five 10 hour days a week on concrete floors. I am constantly walking and climbing so I needed something with good support and cushioning that would not weigh me down. These were a perfect match! They are very light, have great shock absorption in the heel, and relatively good arch support. The first day or two felt like they needed to be broken in, but what shoes don't? I leave work in no pain in my feet or back anymore. These are great investments! They are highly recommend.

I had a pair of the originals back in 1991. That was the best pair of hiking boots that I have ever owned. I was thrilled when I recently found this low top version available again. I just received them and they are everything I expected. A rigid enough sole for a lightweight hiker, yet not so stiff that they are uncomfortable just wearing around the house or yard. Stiffer than a pair of running shoes, but much more forgiving than the stiffer Vibram soles on my Zamberlan Civettas. Very good ventilation; I can feel the air on my toes when I am running. This is a plus. In a shoe like this I was not looking for water-proof. I am looking for a pair that will not make my feet sweat. I am a two shoe guy. Rigid waterproof hikers for field work, yard work, travel, and another pair for everything else. The solo origin covers the "everything else." I like the feel of something substantial on my feet, but at times I do not want as much as the boots provide, and this Merrell fits the bill. This is a great shoe. It is lightweight, durable and rigid enough sole. I have been waiting for a plain looking Merrell without all the stripes, plastic, and stitching all over the shoe. I finally found it.

I love the way Merrells fit wider feet. These are a nice alternate work shoe. The image color is slightly misleading: the grey is lighter & the green is stronger. I would have ordered a different color if I had known. But they fit perfect every time!

I'm a big Merrell fan, so they're the first brand I looked at when I needed a pair of supportive walking shoes for a trip to London combined with plantar fasciitis. Out of the box, these felt incredible - just right - and looked way cool. The color combo is distinctive and gets a lot of favorable comments. I wear 'em with Scholl's insoles and they're comfortable all day. Indispensable for 4 days walking around London, and now I wear them all the time. Better support than my New Balance trainers. I'd definitely buy these again.

Lightweight but sturdy with enough ventilation for warm days. Good shoes! The insoles are basic like most shoes so the addition of "Sole" insoles really perked up the arch supports.

These shoes are awesome! Great style, super comfortable, & lightweight. They work great on the trails, on my bike, or walking around town. They do seem to run a little small so I had to go up a size, other than that, I love 'em!

Great comfort! I hiked 6 miles the first day in these shoes...felt like I was walking on air. No hot spots, good traction, and a great fit.
