Excellent light hiking boot - This is my 2nd pair of Merrell hikers. I was so happy with my first pair, I stuck with the brand, and the Siren has not disappointed me. It's lightweight and comfortable, with good traction in wet conditions. It looks good, too. This boot would probably not be a good choice for extremely rugged hiking, but it's great on a moderately rough trail. I am rating it "true to width," but I should note that I have a slightly narrow foot. I am very happy with the Siren's fit, but if you have a wide foot, it might not suit you as well.

Riding Boot - I am using these boots as riding boots this winter. I was tired of the typically riding boot by Ariat that didn't last but one riding season. Typical riding boots are too slick on the bottom (to make sure you don't get hung up in the stirrup) but I get off a hike with my horses and I found I was slipping and sliding on the trails. These boots stick like glue to the ground. There is a slight heel which helps protect you from your foot sliding thru the stirrup. So far so good! More saddle time will tell the story on how long they will last.

Comfort/Durable - An outstanding hiking boot that has the comfort of a slipper. The boot has good support for my plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. This boot kept my feet dry and warm while hiking in the rain on sandy terrain along Lake Michigan. Great boot.

1/2 size smaller than marked - I love Merrells and usually an 11 is true-to-size and fit perfect! This boot, however, is at least 1/2 size smaller than marked.

Nice & Comfortable - These were recommended by a co-worker and I love them. We are going to Ireland in May so I wanted to get them worn in. However, I don't think they need it because they are comfortable as soon as you put them on. They have a very nice look too. I would recommend them.

Think they are great - I bought these shoes based on my brother in law's recommendation (he is a real hiker). They are light but sturdy and waterproof although I haven't had them out in anything horrendous yet - I like them!

Disappointing - I tried on many pairs of boots and thought this was the one. First hike, 4 miles and I had huge blisters and limped home. Second hike, huge blisters and sore toes. The boots are not for people with bunions. I have bad bunions and the boots have a narrow toe box. I went up a full size and they still don't work. The foot bed is very comfy and supportive and accommodated my orthotics easily. The boot is good looking in a rugged way and supportive around the ankle. I generally love Merrells and have two pairs of their shoes. These boots didn't work for me.

Great Hiking boot - These shoes are very comfortable right out of the box. I had problems last summer with ill fitting hiking boots so I got new ones. I have been wearing these right out of the box with no break in time. They are great boots!

My Recent purchase - This was the 3rd pair of Merrell shoes that I have purchased. I love them. It's instant comfort. The rounded toes on these shoes allow for room and comfort plus the design gives the look of an arch which is very important to me. I can't stand a shoe that makes my foot look flat footed. They wear well. My first pair was purchased over a year and a half ago. I wear it everyday to work and they're still in good shape.

These hikers are GREAT. Wish I'd gotten them months ago. Actually look forward to wearing them. Based on reviews, I ordered a 1/2 size up, and they fit perfectly -- very comfortable and good support.

I bought this boot because I had a pair of Siren hiking shoes that fit perfectly. These boots fit a bit tighter in the same size, but are still ok size-wise. Construction seems good, except for the fact that the left boot has a ridge inside under the removable insole that I was not aware of for several days (when the insole compressed enough for me to feel it). That ridge rests under the tips of my toes and will become painful in time. I wish I had noticed it before I decided to keep the shoes, because it would have been an automatic return due to the obvious flaw.

I bought these hiking boots to head to New Life Hiking Spa in Killington, Vermont. I'd never hiked before, but these boots were comfortable straight out of the box. I bought them 1/2 size larger than what I usually wear.

I am very pleased with these boots. I am devoted to the Siren Sport shoes, and so I hoped the boots would work equally well for me, and they have been great so far. (Haven't had the opportunity to test the waterproof factor yet.) They are comfortable and supportive, and they have not needed any breaking in. Also, they can accommodate my orthotic inserts. About the sizing: I too found that they run small, even compared to other Merrells. Although I wear an 8 in the Siren Sport shoe, I needed an 8.5 in these.

This is a nice boot in general, but not the perfect one for my feet in particular. The balls of my feet are fairly wide, whereas the rest of my foot is average, so it's always a bit of a struggle to find shoes that are comfortable for long periods of time. They ended up fitting decently only after I did some creative lacing. I wore these boots as everyday wilderness footwear for a month. I didn't do any major hiking, but I did do some small hikes, as well as things like portaging canoes, scrambling over rough terrain, and wading through mud and puddles. They seem to have held up well, and they are definitely quite waterproof (and consequently take forever to dry when wet. Like 3 days in the sun forever). They're reasonably comfortable for what I used them for, although after a while on long portages they would start to rub the bottom of my foot where the big toe meets the foot (this may have had more to do with the lacing and with my feet in particular). I also felt like my heel wasn't locked in place, per se in my boots. Anyway, to summarize I would say that overall these are nice quality boots, that are quite waterproof and if they fit well would be pretty comfortable. I would not recommend these particular boots to people with wide feet; however, I think they could be quite nice for average to narrow-footed people.

I love these Merrell shoes. I recently sprained my ankle and they give me support when walking over uneven ground. I did get a half size larger and glad I did. The waterproof exterior is wonderful and overall a great purchase. This is one reason I wear only Merrell shoes. Buying from Zappos is so convenient, with no delivery charge. Thanks for a great product and quick delivery.

I bought these for a Fall hiking trip in upstate NY. Conditions were wet and muddy, and these kept my feet totally dry, even when I had to cross a shallow stream! They were so comfortable I needed no break in period. I usually wear a 5.5, but wasn't sure of the fit so I ordered both a 5.5 and 6 to compare. I kept the 6 so I could wear a thick sock with it. Worked perfectly. Great hiking shoe and light, too!

The boots felt great out of the box and I wore them around the house for a day to be sure so that I could return them if necessary. After I wore them outside for more vigorous walking, I realized that they were too snug in the toes, but now I can’t return! Fortunately, they are comfortable IF I wear thin (not hiking) socks. I have high arches and find that the support is great. These are my work shoes--I work in a state park.
