These boots look great, but they're just not very warm. I bought them before the weather got very cold and I found that even with the temperature in the 50s my feet are getting cold, especially my toes. On the plus side, they are very comfortable and fit true to size. But they're just not the warm winter boot they're made out to be and they're going back.

I haven't had a chance to wear these outside yet. Around the house they are very comfortable. I usually wear a size 5; they felt a little short so I reordered a 5.5. These are better, room for a thicker pair of socks. The arch support is great; I think I could last the day in this pair of boots. I'm not sure if pant legs will tuck in, maybe lighter weight fabric. I wanted a boot with more style that just leather, and these fit the bill with the suede and leather combo. I ordered 6 different pair to see which would be the most comfortable, and these won. Thanks to Zappos, you can order several pairs and check them out in your own home.

I moved back to the Northeast last winter and bought myself some bargain boots, which leaked during the second snowstorm of the year. This year I decided to invest in something better, and I'm really happy with this purchase. They're warm, dry (tried them out in the snow this weekend), comfortable and cute. The height is just right, mid/high calf. I do find the shaft a little narrow for tucking jeans into sometimes, but you can make it work. I also really like that the laces allow you to adjust them, but you can get in and out easily with the zipper. So far, I think these will serve me well for the New England winters!

These shoes look great, but be careful. They are extremely slippery when wet. I am going to return them. The soles are made of a material which is extremely slippery when wet.

I love these boots. better than I expected. They are warm, waterproof, comfortable and adorable. I've gotten lots of compliments. As an added bonus, the laces do adjust the foot. The ankle and calf size of the boot, unlike the Keens. I am considering getting them in black as well.

I waited to wear these shoes for awhile before writing a review. I've had them for 2 months now and I love them. For the first time in years I have warm feet in the winter, especially when they are paired with wool socks. I've worn them in the mud, snow, and even had my foot fall through some ice into freezing water near a street curb and guess what? Feet are dry and warm. I love the laces and glad I don't have to mess with them. But it's great to have them if you want a little more room or whatever. I have to work a bit to get my pants tucked in, but skinny jeans would work fine. Only down side would be the ankle is a bit slouchy, but I guess that's better than stiff. They feel about a half size bigger than marked, but that's okay if want to be able to wear thicker socks. Great boot!

I wanted some cute yet warm and comfortable boots for a winter trip to Paris, and these are simply perfect. I kept ordering larger sizes thinking that they needed to be sized up, but after three attempts (and blindingly fast shipping from Zappos) I finally got the right size. Because the laces go all the way from the top of the boot to near the toe, you can tighten up for a contoured fit. That way they do not look like clompy combat boots like some of the others in this style. I look forward to being warm and comfortable in Paris!

The heel part is a bit too wide for my feet. It's the same with Encore Apex. I'm going to keep the Encore Apex for now and may try Keen. I like the shaft height better in Encore Apex since I'm petite, plus it's cheaper. The best fitting boot for me is the Tetra Launch which I already own, but I wanted something that's better for when there's a lot of snow.

First off, let me say I absolutely love the look of these boots! It is exactly the look I wanted - cute with casual skinny cords/jeans, and dress up with some patterned tights and a sweater dress. But they turned out to be extremely uncomfortable. I was thrilled to find a boot with an adjustable shaft, since my calves normally float around in most boots, but the ankle area is where these booths failed me. After wearing them around the house for a couple of hours, I literally had red marks around the ankle bones. The boot somehow buckles in that area instead of staying straight, creating a little inward bump that rubs my ankles raw. I was tremendously disappointed. I even tried telling myself they just needed to be broken in, but for this kind of money, you'd expect more. I'm sad to start my search over. So cute, yet so uncomfortable.

Got this boots as Xmas gift from my hubby. I love it. When I opened it up and when I tried it, it works good. I waited till we got to ND before wearing it and found out that the longer I wear the boots, it hurts my ankle bad...my hubby felt so bad when I told him about it and disappointed. I'm thinking of returning it but I feel bad to do so since I wore it trying to break; in maybe it will feel better the longer I wear, but it been 4 days now and still hurts my ankle. I love the look of the boots and hate to send it back since it was a gift and not sure if Zappos will accept it back since I wore it for couple days.

I have read the other reviews and yes they do tend to rub your ankle but I have yet to have a tall boot that doesn't until you soften them up. Which means, yes, you have to break them in. That goes for any boot at any price. I love these boots. I am an EMT and can never predict what type of environment I will be in at any given time. They aren't the greatest on ice but again I have yet to find a shoe or boot that is. I am very glad I got these boots and encourage anyone who complains about the ankle rubbing just give it some time it does go away.

Just so you can understand where I am coming from with this review, I thought I'd give you a little background first. I am a huge Merrell fan. In 2002, I was diagnosed as an over-pronator. My arches are perfect and my feet are a little on the narrow side but I do fine in regular width shoes. I have been wearing custom orthotics I purchased through my podiatrist in 2002. I still have feet and back pain when walking for long periods of time and especially if walking down hill. My first Merrell was the Spire Peak Waterproof I bought during my first and only Chicago winter. They were perfect and with my orthotics in place I felt like I was walking on clouds, a feeling I had never known was possible. Since then, I have purchased more shoes by Merrell. I have a pair of sandals that I do not know the name of because I found it at a Marshalls. I have also purchased the Spire Stretch, which feels similar to the Spire Peak Waterproof, and the Tetra Catch Waterproof, which is not quite as supportive as the Spire Peak and Spire Stretch, in fact, even with my orthotics it feels quite flat. When I saw these boots, I knew I had to own them. They are so cute and stylish, which is rare in a comfortable shoe. They are casual but I may try wearing them to work (I work in a business casual office) with wide leg slacks. They do buckle a little around the ankle but I have not found that to be a problem, it only looks a little funky. I tried them with my orthotic and found that they make the orthotic feel like it is higher in the arch section. I found that to be uncomfortable so I returned the removable footbed and decided that I like just the way it comes. I found that I am a size smaller in this shoe than in the Spire Peak and Spire Stretch but the same size as in the Tetra Catch. I hope this helps with your decision.

I bought these more for function than for fashion, although they are great looking. The first week I wore them in 30 degree temperatures, outside and on concrete. My feet stayed warm. Last week we had 12 inches of snow and many downed trees. I wore them hiking through the snow, helping clear branches, and later in 6 inches of snow/slush, in very wet and cold conditions. No leaking, and absolutely no problems. My feet stayed warm and dry. I wear orthotics and they often mess up sizing. The laces allowed me to add the orthotics, warm socks, and whatever else I wanted without negatively impacting the fit. Last item, the lace holders stretch enough to accommodate pants in or out without having to re-lace everything. Inside zipper is great.
