I currently own a great pair of Lowa hikers for the tough stuff, but they're (to my liking) entirely too stiff for light hiking, and sturdy enough that they don't pack especially well for trips. So, prior to our recent trip to Patagonia, I purchased these Merrell's from Zappos. The shoes perform perfectly. They're comfortable, and the slightly higher rise provides some ankle support. The lacing system is secure and easy to manage. Although ventilated, they haven't gotten overly wet even in damp settings. Plus, they're pretty cute. Finally, I must say we LOVE Zappos. We've made numerous purchases from this company and are now loyal customers who check this website first whenever we're looking for shoes or bags. In this instance, because we were leaving shortly for our trip, I purchased this shoe in the 8-1/2 and 9 sizes, knowing I could freely return the one that didn't fit. That, with Zappos lightning quick shipping, got me properly outfitted for Argentina and Chile in no time. Thanks, Zappos!

I have had surgery on my left ankle twice and have flat feet to boot so needless to say I have foot issues. These have been a life saver, best shoe I ever put on my foot RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! You can't miss with these shoes.

I have been backpacking for 20 yrs., have gone through a few boots, I have finally found the boot for me. It's light, it does give me support on my ankles. I have been hiking with them for awhile getting ready for a long trip they are the best!

Excellent boot! Lightweight, comfortable and supportive. I needed something for long walks with ankle support and did not like the feel of classic stiff hiking boots; this is like a sturdy sneaker that hugs your foot and ankle. No breaking in period, and my feet feel great in them. Only complaint is in the dull color beige with the black accents, kind of masculine; wish it came in something more feminine, but overall I highly recommend!

This shoe is comfortable, but is more like a tennis shoe than a hiking boot. I'm a true 9, but I bought a 9.5 after reading other reviews, and I'm glad I did; otherwise, the shoe would have been too short. However, it's too wide to provide adequate stability on the trail. My ankles twist quite often in this boot. Buy it for walking around big box stores, or for working in the yard. But if you're looking for a stable hiking boot, this may not be the best choice for you; it wasn't for me. My rating is based on this shoe being a hiking boot; I would definitely rate it 5 stars for the other aforementioned scenarios.

I knew I needed new hiking boots and wasn't sure of what brand or where to purchase them. Because of the reviews I had read on Zappos as well as trying on other brands elsewhere, I decided to get a pair of Merrell Moab Ventilator Mid. They are far more comfortable then my past boots. The soles cling to steep boulders and because of the cushion inside there is no rubbing on my ankles. In fact, I barely know that they are on my feet. These boots make very good desert sand, rocks, uneven surface boots. I received good and quick service from Zappos.

I just love Merrell shoes! There is always an instant feeling of comfort even with new Merrell shoes and these were no exception. These are perfect for hiking in warmer weather as they have some ankle support and very strong soles.

I normally wear a 9 in Merrells, but I ordered the 9.5 based on all the reviews here and they fit very well. There shoes are extremely comfortable and require no breaking in. They were comfortable from the first time I wore them. I am only an amateur hiker, but they feel very sturdy; I can't imagine wearing them out ever. They seem like a good investment for the price. I'm very happy I ordered these, especially since there are so many hiking boots to choose from on Zappos.com!
