Not sure how to edit my previous review but I did not want to give out misleading info. I submitted my last review a little too soon. The hiking boot is still great, but the sizing is way off. I wear a 9.5 dress shoe and a 10 in sneakers and most boots (with thick socks). However, after wearing the 10 in the Moab Ventilator Mid indoors on carpet, one of my toes had a tiny bit of friction and both feet seemed like they were lacking extra wiggle room. I went online and read some reviews on other sites that complained that these ran really small. It also seemed that people who go their regular sneaker/boot size for these boots were in pain or had toenail damage and ended up hating the boot. I went to a brick and mortar store and tried on the 10 1/2. I still did not have enough wiggle room. So, I tried on a size 11 and they were perfect, dreamy even. Now, this hiking boot is as comfortable as my running shoes. I've been wearing them with thick hiking socks, and by lacing them firmly, I haven't had any problems with my foot sliding forward despite going up 1.5 sizes. This might be a problem for someone with tiny ankles or heels, but not me. Lastly, at the brick and mortar store, they gave me some tests to try that others may find helpful. They had me do a striking motion and kick my toe down and into the carpet to see if my toe touched the front of the boot. If your toe makes contact, it's probably too small. They also had me check if my toes were sliding forward when going down steps. Again, if your toe is making contact, you may need to go up a 1/2 or full size. I hope this helps.

While I love the Vibram treads on the bottom, and these shoes are my ideal style, they completely fell apart after 3 months. The bottom part that separates the shoe from the sole/tread completely came unglued after 3 months of average wear (5 hours a day, 4 days a week, about 3 miles total each of those days) And it wasn't as if they slowly started to fall apart, they completely separated all of the sudden, one on one evening, the other 2 days behind. I love to shop at Zappos, but I will just be sure to never buy this brand again. Poor quality for the price. And a shame too, the treads are still like brand new, barely even show signs of wear.

I love these shoes! Not only are they lightweight and very comfortable, they make my feet look smaller than a 10½! Everything a girl could ask for! This is my first pair of Merrell's, and my first shopping trip at Zappos. It will not be my last of either.

I love these hikers! Merrell seems to never let me down! So comfy. They are a cool light weight hiker great for Summer hikes and even brand new on long hikes, my feet were comfortable and they didn't have to be broken in. I highly recommend them. They are a tad bit smaller than my Merrell winter hikers that I got in the same size, but work for me because I like really thin hiking socks in the Summer months. Only thing that would make them better is if they came in pink. :)

I wear a 9 1/2 in running shoes (Saucony) and I bought these in a size 10 based on other reviews. They fit just right in the length and a tad wide in width. This allows me to wear liners or thicker socks which I like. Very comfortable boot from the start! It's not my boot of choice for steep off-trail hikes - I need more ankle support and a stiffer boot for that. But I love the light weight and breathability of this boot for trail hiking or off-trail hiking on gentle to moderate slopes.

I'd also recommend: Asolo, Saucony

I had to order up a size to allow for space for socks and they ran a little small. Otherwise I love them. They are very supportive yet I feel connected with the ground. I replaced the insole they came with with a Dr. Scholl's gel insert and it makes them super comfortable. My son is going on a backpacking trek this summer and picked the same ones in men's for his trek.

I'd also recommend: Keen sandals
