This shoe is comfortable, but is more like a tennis shoe than a hiking boot. I'm a true 9, but I bought a 9.5 after reading other reviews, and I'm glad I did; otherwise, the shoe would have been too short. However, it's too wide to provide adequate stability on the trail. My ankles twist quite often in this boot. Buy it for walking around big box stores, or for working in the yard. But if you're looking for a stable hiking boot, this may not be the best choice for you; it wasn't for me. My rating is based on this shoe being a hiking boot; I would definitely rate it 5 stars for the other aforementioned scenarios.

Excellent boot! Lightweight, comfortable and supportive. I needed something for long walks with ankle support and did not like the feel of classic stiff hiking boots; this is like a sturdy sneaker that hugs your foot and ankle. No breaking in period, and my feet feel great in them. Only complaint is in the dull color beige with the black accents, kind of masculine; wish it came in something more feminine, but overall I highly recommend!

Great summer hiking boots!
I was so excited to hike in these boots and they did not disappoint me at all! Lightweight, cool, but had all the support I need for my mountain hikes! VERY comfortable and literally no break in period. My feet formed to this boot after the first hike with no blisters or discomfort. And...Zappos got them to me in 1 day at no extra charge! Wasn't expecting them until next week! So happy to have them for my long weekend!

I have had surgery on my left ankle twice and have flat feet to boot so needless to say I have foot issues. These have been a life saver, best shoe I ever put on my foot RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! You can't miss with these shoes.

I currently own a great pair of Lowa hikers for the tough stuff, but they're (to my liking) entirely too stiff for light hiking, and sturdy enough that they don't pack especially well for trips. So, prior to our recent trip to Patagonia, I purchased these Merrell's from Zappos. The shoes perform perfectly. They're comfortable, and the slightly higher rise provides some ankle support. The lacing system is secure and easy to manage. Although ventilated, they haven't gotten overly wet even in damp settings. Plus, they're pretty cute. Finally, I must say we LOVE Zappos. We've made numerous purchases from this company and are now loyal customers who check this website first whenever we're looking for shoes or bags. In this instance, because we were leaving shortly for our trip, I purchased this shoe in the 8-1/2 and 9 sizes, knowing I could freely return the one that didn't fit. That, with Zappos lightning quick shipping, got me properly outfitted for Argentina and Chile in no time. Thanks, Zappos!

I really liked this boot. It doesn't look like the old high topped hiking boot, however I found that I got really good support and the boot was very comfortable from the first time I wore them. They really did not need a "breaking in" period. They are also very light weight which will not wear you out.

These shoes are awesome! By far the most comfortable gym shoes I’ve ever owned! I bought them in the hot pink/lightning colour and love the way they look. I disagree with the other reviews that say they don’t fit true to size. I listened to that at first and ended up ordering 3 pairs. The ones that fit were the normal size I wear. I also want to say that Zappos is by far the best store I’ve EVER bought from. Their customer service is way above anything else I’ve ever experienced! I live in Canada and they made the whole process so easy!

I can't take them off -
I love these so much I've been wearing them for 16 hrs straight now. I received them yesterday, 2 days or less after ordering. They are lightweight, feel like an extension of my body, not a boot and I just love them so much. Great arch support and friendly appearance. I got a complement at the dentist today. They actually MAKE ME WANT to exercise and I need that motivation.

I wasn't going to keep both pairs I ordered but I loved these boots. I thought they would be perfect for summer horseback riding since standard riding boots are too slick on the bottoms (so you'll slip out of the stirrup incase you get hung up) when I get off and hike with my horse. I'll keep them as my "city" boots since they are still clean until Spring then they'll be come my riding boots.

I love this boot, very comfortable, but slightly made smaller than expected. I wear an 8, and sadly had to return them, there was no extra room for my toes. I recommend ordering a half size larger than your normal shoe size.
