I think the first thing you need to do is go to a local shoes store to try on the Merrell shoes. I read reviews before and saw some folks saying to order a half size smaller. For me they were correct but I went to a local store to check to be 100 percent sure. I normally wear a 9.5, I ordered a 9 and they fit fine. It been over a month now and the shoe feels good. Usually a first week with new shoes things are a little stiff so that's why I wait to make a review. I'm really happy with my purchase.

The Merrell Kopec is a comfortable and supportive walking shoe. I have several pair of Merrells and this is one of my favorites. The lacing is adjustable and convenient. Merrells are durable, but I note that unlike many of my Merrells, the Kopec lacks a Vibram sole. Because I recently purchased the Kopec, I cannot yet attest to its durability.

If you haven't worn Merrell shoes before, you are in for a treat. Real comfortable shoe and long lasting.

I need a lot of support, which this shoe provides. The sole is very supportive. I bought this shoe for working around the house, so I don't know how it would be for hiking. I also wanted something that would not be too warm, especially in summer, and I think this will work. It seems to fit slightly bigger than other Merrells I have, but I did not try a smaller size.
