Just received a pair of the Slants. Upon just wearing them a little while around the house, I have this instinctive feeling, they will be mighty comfortable! I did order my normal size and had to re-order 1/2 size up but if that's all it takes, small problem for the enjoyment I'm likely to get. Thanks Merrell and even more thanks to the best of the best: Zappos!
Brands I'd also recommend: Tough glove, if they like a tie version.

I had high hopes for these as I'm a huge Merrell fan, but they ended up being a disappointment. First, they aren't a true barefoot shoe for two reasons. 1) the sole is quite thick and stiff, which does not allow the same barefoot feeling that you get from Vibram Five Fingers. Second, there's an arch in the sole, which is obviously not a feature that should be in a true barefoot shoe, and frankly it made my feet hurt. Last, the thin rubber molding on the fabric around the toe and side started cracking within the first week, especially where the foot bends at the toe/foot joint. As much as I love Merrell, I can't recommend these shoes.

Zappos is the best. No hassles, no problems. One order was lost, and Zappos replaced the order instantly without additional charge, and when the order showed up three weeks later, they took the return without any questions. Then ever have a problem with returns, and have the biggest inventory. I can always find a shoe I want there even when local stores cannot. Zappos is my number one source for shoes. I wanted a shoe without any arch support, and got what I wanted.

I'm ordering another pair I like these so much. One pair for gardening, one for the gym and maybe a third pair for around town. I don't care if they're true barefoot style or not, these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I ran a mile on the treadmill and these felt fantastic, first time out. They were much more comfortable than the lace-ups; not so tight on the top of the foot. Order up half a size.

Form/fit was expected and in-line with other Merrell Barefoot shoes I've owned, but without the laces these slip-ons were too lose for normal walking. I've owned Merrell slip-ons before, and the flex in the elastic is much greater with these than my other pairs.
