First, I have to say that I'm pleased with this shoe overall. It's light and extremely minimal, which is what I wanted. However, I'm not sure what happened at Merrell between the v1 & v2 of their Barefoot/M-Connect relative to internal shoe upper construction. I have a pair of original Road Gloves which are possibly my favorite all-purpose running shoe right now and I recently ran an 8K PR in them. Note that I grew accustomed to running in them *without socks*. Then, late last fall, I purchased the Bare Access 2. Given the cold in Chicago, I consistently wore them with socks - specifically double-layer Wrightsocks (awesome socks, btw). With the weather recently warming, I took the BA2 out for my first run without socks and had major blisters and hotspots on both the top and bottom of both feet. It was more pronounced medial side of the ball of my foot. Concurrently, I bought a pair of Vapor Gloves (had to go down a full size from both the RG & BA2). In my first run in those, I had exactly the same blistering and host spot problem but more pronounced on the top of my feet, just under my toes. This time, I noticed that the interior fabric next to the stitching is somewhat frayed and downright sharp in some places. After noticing that, I checked the inside of the BA2 and, while not as frayed as the Vapors, it's definitely not as seamless as the original Road Gloves. Running with socks in both shoes is awesome and I don't notice the stitching at all. However, with Summer approaching, I was definitely hoping that both the Vapor Glove and BA2 would be good sockless options like the original RG was. Who knows, maybe the fraying will dull with time and regular wear. Just not totally what I was hoping for.

Looks great and is so lightweight but it rubs the top of my big toe. It's long enough, just not high enough in the toe box for me.

My husband and I have recently gotten back into heavy weightlifting, and I wanted a shoe that was soft, comfortable, unrestrictive and most of all, didn't hurt my feet. Normally tennis shoes are very uncomfortable to me, and cause feet pain. I much prefer to wear flats, sandals, or just go barefoot when possible, but that's simply not feasible in a gym setting. So I began the quest for what I call "barely there" shoes, and came across these. I couldn't be happier! I absolutely love them, and they work great on everything from the treadmill to dead lifts, from calf raises to squats.

Best barefoot shoe ever! These are the lightest, most flexible, roomiest shoes I've ever worn. My toes can splay. My feet can move freely. I can do, I can point, I could dance ballet if the soles weren't grippy. Yet they are firm on my instep and heel. They look cool in sort of a Euro-sneaker way. I loved the original pace glove above all things, but I might love these more.

Love the space in the toe box! When I first purchased this pair, it took a bit to get accustomed to the lack of a cushy sole, and change my stride style, but I love them. I wear them for kickboxing and jogging and walking in general. I recommend them to anyone who wants the "barefoot" experience.

I finally decided to run more regularly (the thought of which I loathed because of the pain I associated it with) about 1.5 months ago, so I researched barefoot/minimalist running and got a training plan in order. I was excited and thought that I would have little transition time because I have been walking and working out in these since August last year. I did, however, have a three day stretch of feeling extreme calf tightness after my first run, but I have not experienced that since then. (Mind you, I have not run regularly since playing basketball in high school!) I wear these with socks and run mostly on pavement. I have wide feet and these shoes have a big toe box, which is awesome. I also previously had plantar fasciitis, but I think running in minimals has definitely helped strengthened my feet and lower legs, and my PF is no longer existent. I even feel stronger in my tree pose when doing yoga...I used to have such a hard time with this pose because my ankles would start cramping. I have tried running in Merrells that were zero drop with a vibram sole, but I still prefer my vapor gloves. I did start getting into Vibrams and I am amassing my collection, but I still wear my vapor gloves regularly and will be buying a second pair soon!

I'd also recommend: Vibram
