If you are already familiar with the Merrell Trail Glove, you will probably feel right at home in the Road Glove. The fit and sizing is nearly identical, and the ride quality is very similar to the Trail Glove. Although these shoes are supposed to have a bit more rubber underfoot for running on asphalt and concrete, it would help greatly if you have already transitioned to an efficient minimalist-style running form since these are true zero-drop shoes. The ride quality is pretty firm and these shoes demand that you have your running technique down - otherwise, you may come away feeling beat up, especially in the calves, achilles tendon, and arches, similar to what you may experience with other minimalist shoes. However, if you are already in Merrells for trail running, the Road Glove is a great choice if you want another shoe with same kind of fit and feel, and if you want to stick with the brand. I have about 30 miles on mine, with the longest run of about 10 miles and have not experienced any issues. These shoes are light, very flexible, and the Vibram outsole offers good traction, although I have not run in wet conditions yet. I find that keeping the laces a little loose in the forefoot helps in the comfort department.

This is a very hot shoe as in attractive to others who see it on your foot. My trainer loved it. And I feel it's a winner over and beyond what others might think too. The shoe fits true to size. Will fit a wide foot as in 2E fine. And of course it's just simply very "cool" to have a barefoot shoe in your closet and on your foot. Especially if you want a date!
Brands I'd also recommend: Nike, Keen, Ecco are all my favorites along with Merrell.

I love these shoes. I've been wearing Vibram Five Fingers for around 3 years now and decided to give them a try. They are fantastic. The are closer to a shoe than the VFFs but not by much, and that's offset by not having your toes constricted. Between being able to wear socks and being able get away wearing them at work or out without causing a commotion (VFFs always start conversations), they are my daily shoe!

This is a fine shoe. I tried NB Minimus (trail0, road0, life0, life20, trail20, and trail20v.2), Saucony Hattori, Merrell Barefoot Trail, Nike Free 2, and my previous winner, the Asics Gel Enduro. This shoe wins. Roomy at the toes, snug in the heel, comfortable at the midfoot, lightweight, flexible, and grippy. This shoe is the real deal. No seriously, just buy it. What are you waiting for?

Very similar fit to my trail gloves, which for me means narrow, and a bit clunky. I find the Vibram soles on the Merrells to be stiffer then on five-fingers, with too much pressure on the arch and a narrow toe box compared to others (Vivobarefoot). Aside from that, these are good looking shoes, and if you don't have issues with the fit, should be great for you. Merrell quality is always great, I just prefer Vivobarefoot, or Vibrams for minimalist shoes.

I love these shoes. They have a bit more cushioning than the trail gloves without sacrificing the barefoot feel. They fit my feet perfectly and are comfortable for those 5k runs as well as box jumps, double unders and deadlifts. Plus they're washable so I can wear them without socks.

These shoes are excellent in an unexpected way. I have wide feet and problems with metatarsals on both feet that require the use of orthotics. I bought the shoes on a whim hoping the "bare foot" structure would work for me. It worked great. The shoes wrap around your feet in a way that delivers a comfortable and supportive feeling. I can wear them for extended periods In comfort. I really like them for walking (I'm not a runner). I recommend these shoes.

The materials are fantastic...linning is silky smooth, the upper is durable and comfortable... Overall I was disappointed with the shoe due to it's molded arch.. It's not arch support per say, but it does impede mine from functioning properly which lead to knee pain.. That being said I think it's a great shoe for things other than running (for me anyway) and very comfortable to wear around.

Great shoe to continue my transition. Having read the research, I'm more and more convinced that barefoot is best. I'm also paranoid about injuries with the transition from my old motion control shoes I've been going slow, starting with the Saucony Kinvara for a few months. I'm now loving this Road Glove. Great traction and fit for my wide feet. I have a pair of Vivobarefoot that are too minimal but feel I'll be ready for them after a few months in these. I've also been doing the 100 up exercises, which I think help a lot, and are a great workout themselves.
Brands I'd also recommend: vivobarefoot, saucony, five fingers

Great shoe. Be careful if you have a very narrow foot. I'm normally a 11 and ordered a size 11. They were way to big and had to go to a 10.5.

As a long time runner, I had been eager get into barefoot/minimalist running, but I wasn't ready to take the full plunge with a pair of Vibrams. The Merrell Road Gloves seemed like a good stepping stone. All in all, I really like these shoes. After my first run in these, I could instantly feel the difference. My calves and the muscles around my shins were sore. In traditionally running shoes, my calves were never sore. This tells me that the shoes are doing what they're supposed to engaging all of the muscles in my legs and feet. And after two weeks I've also noticed that my horrible pronation problem has fixed itself. In traditional running shoes I pronated so badly that the tread on the outer portion of my sole consistently wore down to flatness with the rest of the sole in good shape. The Road Gloves somehow forced me to correct myself. Which is fantastic. A couple minor gripes... 1. I can't wear these things sans-socks. There's a rough stitch on the inside toward the outer edge of the sole that rubs the hell out of my feet and has given me blisters every time. But I throw on a pair of socks and I'm good. This could just be my weird feet. 2. They are a bit unsightly. I'm okay with the deisgn overall, if it weren't for that cheesy geographic line pattern. Is Merrel. paying homage to Trapper Keepers? What's the deal? All said - really glad I purchased the shoes and would do so again if given the choice.
