I purchased these in the Acacia yellow after doing some research on "Barefoot" shoes. Thankfully, these are much more attractive than Vibram Five Finger shoes, but have the same thin, light Vibram sole. Barefoot shoes are made to make it feel like you are walking barefoot to naturally strengthen your foot and leg muscles, so don't expect the same cushioning and arch support that you would normally have in any other pair of Merrells. You can definitely feel the ground in these, which is exactly what I was looking for. Also great that these are machine washable, and they are so thin and light that you can roll them into a ball. Very comfortable, and I have already received many compliments on the color. I will most likely pick up a second pair, or maybe a pair of Pace Gloves.

I've been running in Saucony Kinvaras and wanted to start wearing something more minimal in my daily routine (can't quite pull off the Vibram Five Fingers at work.) This shoe is great; nice quality, the red is not as bright as it looks, but not frumpy maroon either. The upper is nice and stretchy, and while the sole is a little stiffer than I expected, I'm guessing it'll break in, like other Vibram soles I have. Almost perfect, except for the fit. I measure 7 1/2, usually wear 8, up to 8 1/2 in running shoes. The 8 in this shoe was so big, the arch was under the ball of my foot! My 7 1/2 exchange just arrived, and while I still have over a half inch of room in front, they're tolerable. I get that a "barefoot" shoe should be roomy enough to let the toes spread out, but for me these run long by a full size. What I do like about the fit is that there's room to move width-wise without the shoe feeling sloppy. The heal doesn't slip and the toe box accommodates my post-pregnancy wide forefoot. Also, I really like the placement of the strap -- it's right over the arch, and I can tighten/loosen it to customize the support. I'm really excited about these; I just wish Merrell would provide a size chart specific to this shoe.

I love these shoes because they can be worn without socks. They are very comfortable but they do run a little big. I would maybe try a half size smaller than you usually get. I got a size 9, my usual size, and they are a little roomy but wearable. I got the black ones and you could even wear them to work as maryjanes. Overall great shoe!

Seemed to run small - needed a half a size up. I'm usually an 8 1/2, but my toe hit the front when walking - so I had to take advantage of Zappos' free return shipping!

I am loving these shoes. I bought one pair and have a feeling I am going to have to buy more, because these feel so good I don't want to put anything else on. I have tried other barefoot styles - the five finger - but those didn't fit me well and also the five fingers are too weird to wear at my job! Anyway I have walked in these, lifted weights in these, and done kickboxing, and they felt great in everything! I plan to get some black ones for work when they are back in stock. I got my regular size (9) and that size fit perfectly. Finally, a barefoot style shoe that is cute!

I love the Merrell Pure Glove. I have been wearing 4 different vibram five fingers for the last year and have worn the sole out of each of them. These Pure Gloves are perfect work or hiking. The soles are thicker than my vibrams, and are just as comfortable, plus you can put them on faster! I wear a wide shoe size, and these shoes are perfect and very comfortable. I wish they came in more colors!

When I tried these shoes on at home, I thought they were too big. Luckily, I kept them and wore them to work. (I wear a 10, and ordered these in 10) They did not feel too big once I was out and about. There is plenty of room in the toe box for my toes to spread as I walk. I was surprised to feel some arch support. The shoes didn't feel strange at all, and I have not noticed any change in my form or stride. They are really cute, and the solid black is fine for me to wear to the office. They are very comfortable as well. I wore them right away with no socks.

This is by far the oddest shoe I have ever tried on. Let me re-phrase this. It's the oddest shoe I have ever tried on from Zappos. It has no arch support and the toe box is beyond weird.

These definitely run large, I have returned two pair because they were both too large. I would recommend ordering a size down, especiallly if you don't want to wear socks with them.

These are very comfy in general, but actually did squish my pinky toes just a bit. They might get better with wear, but that's my first impression. I like how light they are; they really do give my foot a lot of freedom. I usually get a half-size up from my actual size to make sure my feet aren't squished, but these didn't need that. I can feel the ground beneath my feet easily, too. I stepped on a branch to test this, and it was easy to feel it. They're also incredibly cute! The color is gorgeous (I got the red ones, and I've seen the blue ones in a store). The strap is a little high; I'd prefer it closer to my ankle. All in all, good shoes - especially for the barefoot experience without toe separation.

I just received these shoes and I absolutely love them. I put them on immediately out of the box and have no complaints. They fit perfectly. I wear a 8 1/2 medium, and these fit. I did place a lightweight arch support in them, as there are no arch supports in the shoe itself, and now they are perfect! Cute shoe!

These shoes got me through 10 days of non-stop touring around Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and NYC. I wear Crocs, Clarks, Alegria, and other comfort shoes, but none equaled the level of comfort as these puppies here! The thin sole is made by Vibram, and so you'll notice mystery muscles developing more as your feet accustom to the barefoot style of these shoes. The breathable fabric top sole allows your feet to push hot air out with each down step while still staying insulated (in 35 degree NYC weather, mind you) and the maryjane style strap keeps wide feet like mine from slipping out of the otherwise soft and flexible shoe. I love these shoes. End of story.

I like these a lot so far. I usually wear a 7.5-8 and after trying and returning those ended up with an 8.5. I have some vibram FFs and these feel similar, but look super cute. Love this light purple. I do wish there was some give in the strap.

I bought 2 pairs. The yellow is a different material than the black and is more comfortable. I have Vibram 5 fingers and was looking for a barefoot shoe I could wear to work. These have a thicker sole so they don't really feel all that barefoot, just lacking a cushioned insole. The arch is in an odd place but is no longer noticeable after a few wearings. They are reasonably comfortable for everyday wear but not for long walks. It's not the barefoot aspect and they just rub my foot, especially the mary jane strap. But overall they are fine for a ballerina type flat that I can wear for most activities.
Brands I'd also recommend: Keen, Vibram 5 Fingers

This shoe is not a typical shoe I would normally buy, but once I tried them on my feet fell in love. By far the most comfortable shoe I have ever had on my feet! I love them, wear them all the time and have recommend them to everyone I know! And I tell them buy them from Zappos!

After having no so great luck finding a comfortable replacement for my worn out Keen Madrid ballerina shoes, I found these but did not want to return yet another pair of shoes back to Zappos. I found a local store which only had the lavender color in my size. I typically wear a 7.5 size shoe in a wide width (wide forefoot, not so wide heel), but have been wearing Keen shoes in a size 8. The Lavender shoes in a size 7.5 are extremely comfortable. The toe box is wide, and nothing chafes or rubs against my feet or toes. I've worn them on several 3 mile walks in the past few days (no socks) and am thrilled with them. After spending a couple of days wearing the lavender shoes, I also ended up ordering a black pair from Zappos. My black pair feels a little bit narrower than the lavender and rubs against my left little toe slightly. I think the fabric upper is either bending in just the the wrong spot. After a day in the office, the little toe is a little sore and almost has a blister. I think the black pair will end up being used more casually and will not be used for long walks/ hikes. The shoe did not feel quite as tight by the end of the day, so I'm hopeful that the spot will stretch out. I don't know if the colors make a difference, but it seems as though the sizing in this shoe is not consistent and may account for the other inconsistent reviews where some consider the shoe smaller than marked, but others think it is larger. Overall, I'm thrilled to have found these shoes. I'd give my lavender pair 5 stars and my black pair a 3.5-4 for comfort.
