Fantastic shoe. I have a narrow arch and wider toe box. This shoe is perfectly constructed to hug the arch without shifting and then has extra space in the toe box so your toes lay naturally, without the shoe looking like a platypus foot. The shoe is designed to latch onto the arch by the lacing system almost acting as a cinch. Fantastic shoe. I will actually be wearing as my traveler (the only one I'll bring!) as the blue is sporty enough to wear to the gym on the road, rugged enough to hike or put some miles on, casual enough to wear around town with jeans, and dressy enough that you could sneak by with khakis (probably won't cut black tie...). My only suggestion for improvement would be to introduce color schemes which stay in line with the versatility of the desired uses above. The blue is the only one that meets these, as the other two have some louder colors which make them less versatile for me (a key selling point). Still love the shoe and would own even if it had less utility (but huge bonus points because it does), and it is one of the most comfortable I've owned.
I'd also recommend: Mephisto

I found these elsewhere on clearance and picked up two pairs... one of the best purchases I've ever made. My running was always limited by my shins and their pain after roughly a quarter mile. I tried these for the first time a few days ago, and the difference was huge. I ran two miles without more than a few twinges of pain in my shin, and nothing constant. These aren't really designed for walking, though. They are definitely more for running.

Stylish (for a minimalist shoe) and well-built, but the arch is too narrow for my foot. It gave me some pain after a while. Other reviews say there's too much arch support for a minimalist shoe. I disagree; it seems as though the shoe is built to "hug" the arch of a (narrow) foot, rather than hold any of its weight.

I am a fan of the Vibram Five Finger shoes. I work out and walk in them & my feet feel great. I was excited to try the Merrell "Barefoot" style shoes because it would mean that I could wear a shoe that had a bit (ok, a lot) more style, but was gave me some sort of barefoot feel. This was my first try at the Merrell "Barefoot" series. Unfortunately, this shoe was not what I expected. Not only was there a distinctive arch in the shoe, but it went all the way across the foot. If you call this a barefoot shoe, please get rid of the arch. People who want barefoot style shoes don't want arch "support" that ultimately makes your foot weaker. I give it a 2 overall because at least it has good toe flex.
