I really liked this shoe and have a pair of Merrell Tough Gloves that I wear as often as possible. I had to return the Embarks, however, because of a very uncomfortable tough spot on the inside of the shoe where the tongue reaches into the shoe and connects with the body. Full disclosure: I have uneven feet - my right is slightly bigger than my left - and the left foot fit perfectly and felt great. The right, however, was very uncomfortable and walking one block I got a hot spot and had to turn back. I've never had this issue with other shoes so it was a bit frustrating. While not really a knock on the shoe, just be aware if you may feel this tough spot and have to go up a size.

I have run in Merrell Gloves since this past spring. I recently bought a pair of the Embarks. These shoes are more suited for trail running with rocks and other obstacles. The protection from bruising is much better. Plus, the zero heal to ball drop is still maintained. One thing that has been interesting to me with Merrell Barefoots is that I do not roll my ankle like I do in standard shoes. I have to believe it is the zero drop. My only other comment on the Embark is the size tends to run about 1/2 larger than the others.

A good semi-minimalist option for those of us who want out feet to stay warm and dry. Not as much feel for the ground as the Trail Glove, but who needs cold wet feet? Recommended.
Brands I'd also recommend: Vivobarefoot
