Although I normally wear a narrow shoe, these are a little bit adjustable in the toe section, which works well for me. They shoes are very lightweight and comfortable.

I wish that I would have taken the time to read these reviews before I ordered a few days ago. However for those that have taken the time to tell of their blister encounters I will advise purchasing Dr. Scholls Moleskin tape. Tapeing them to the underside of the strap leaves you with a nice felt finish. I hope it works again for me on these as it has in the past.

Generally Merrell is my favorite brand of sport sandals but the Avian Light Strap is disappointing. First, as another reviewer mentioned, there is a piece of fabric in the ankle strap that gives me blisters so I also end up putting on several bandages before I even leave the house. The other problem I have is that my little toe sticks out of the little cutout on the side of the sandal. I can put some tape inside the shoe to ease that problem but haven't found a way to not get blisters. Otherwise the footbed is very comfortable and I like the adjust-ability of this sandal. I have been searching for a replacement for my old Merrell VIA III sandals which were discontinued and I really hoped these would fit the bill but they do not.

Overall I like the feel of this shoe. It has good traction, and I like that it has an adjustable strap. There's just one problem with it. The ankle strap has a piece inside of the shoe that sticks out and rubs a blister on both of my feet. That means that whenever I wear the shoes, I have to also wear bandaids to cover those areas, since I obviously don't wear socks with them. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this would be an issue until I'd worn them. How can you know until you walk around in them?

I absolutely love these sandals, they are very light on my feet, love the color, however, I have the same complaint some of the other reviews have, the strap that goes across my instep is on such an angle that it cuts into my instep. Just trying these on I noticed it, so definitely could not wear them in hot weather when my feet swell. I am regretfully sending them back. I have two pairs of a similar sandal which I purchased from Zappos and wear them ALL the time around the house, they were called "Merrell Waterpro Animas" that I just love. I ordered them on July 28, 2008, I wish Merrell would bring them back.
