I got these along with the Whiteout 8. I want something for the dual purposes of hiking and snowshoeing. These would probably be great with just snow, but I have muddy conditions too. I cannot see these cleaning up well from mud. They are comfortable, but there is not enough arch support for me. I will be returning them.

Very comfortable, good traction, but the outside will look worn quickly: that's my summary. These shoes are moderate in protection, and probably make better urban shoes given their styling and height. They are definitely very comfortable, and I am even thinking of wearing them to the gym! The negatives of course, are the outer appearance. the suede is a little incongruous and also looks beaten in just one outing. So, you may end up with a rough looking shoe. Other than that, I give these shoes all thumbs up.

I really like these boots! Felt comfortable the first time I wore them, no blisters like another brand I had to return. I use them for my 3 mile walk, and for shoveling the sidewalk and any winter activity where I want to keep my feet warm. I wear a 7 1/2 N shoe, ordered these in size 8. Wear with a mid-weight to heavy sock. Both work fine. I did add a light insole for extra arch support, but I do that with all my shoes. At first I thought they looked a little quirky on my foot, but I am used to that now! Zappos had them to me in no time.

I really love these winter boots from Merrell! They are cozy and comfortable and give me great support. Because winter can be wet and sometimes snowy where I live, I know I will use these boots for years to come when the "weather outside is frightful" but a walk would be so delightful. The tread truly offers great traction when on icy sidewalks or hillsides.
