The top strap does not cover the velcro when this sandal is on my foot, which is average width. The strap should have been longer. It was cut too short. These sandals were was not as carefully made as Mephistos I have bought in the past. They look like they would be comfortable if they had been better made. I did not try to walk in them since it was obvious the straps would keep on opening, and I didn't like to see exposed Velcro when they didn't open. The arch support looks good, but I didn't try to wear them. My rating is only for the pair of sandals I received, not for the way they might be they were better made.

Zappos must do better job of restocking sizes and have looked at 3 different pairs only to see that "out of stock" sign, quite annoying and time wasting!

I usually wear a 38 in Mephisto, but this shoe seemed slightly smaller than normal. Shoe bed long enough although shorter than usual, but ankle strap a bit tighter than it should be...adjustable yes, but I don't like too much velcro exposed because it catches on things. Would order 39 but none left!
I'd also recommend: Ecco, Taos

This is without a doubt my favorite sandal! Wore them every day for two weeks in Italy. They were comfortable beyond words, and gave me good support on cobblestone streets and byways. I will never take athletic shoes with me on vacation again!
I'd also recommend: only MEPHISTO
