from Montana Overall Rating:
Overall, the design is great for a school/commuter bag, but the flimsy nylon material would call for a price drop in my experienced opinion. I wouldn't recommend this for the trail. I have an old NF book pack from '95...it was a good bag, I carried it everywhere in high school and part of college and I bought the new Recon based off of my old bag. I'm disappointed in the nylon materials used for the body of the pack, especially for the price. The materials feel cheap, thin and flimsy...I can only hope it stands up to abuse better than I suspect it will. On the positive notes, the Recon is designed well for a good school/commuter bag, I wouldn't wear this on the trail...I have more technical packs for serious adventures. The organizer panel is nice...lots of slots, even a few padded squarish ones for your electronics. The organizer in my bag is a medium gray with red accents...the lighter color helps make items more viable. (I bought the "bittersweet brown" color). The outside pocket on the front is a great stash pocket...they say it will fit a bike helmet...I don't bike but will stash my stethoscope and a light jacket in there. "The North Face" logo is embroidered at the bottom, while the pack's name is screen printed off to the side. There are two loops directly below the logo...which I find pretty much useless on a school pack (but love them on technical packs). There's also an additional zippered pocket just above the large mesh one on the front...its medium size is good for snacks or a headlamp and other small tools. The inside is roomy enough. Forget it if you're trying to bring your laptop AND 2 inch binder along with a couple text books...the pack isn't deep enough. Although my 2 inch binder and medium sized texts seem to fit fine. There's an internal sleeve/pocket for a water bladder or laptop...my 17 inch can fit ok. The zippers are quality. Easy to open and close although the protective zipper flaps get in the way often. 2 mesh side pockets fit a regular nalgene bottle easily. Shoulder straps are ergonomic and made with a thin but dense foam. I was wearing a strapless top my first day with the pack and the straps chaffed my skin. The sternum strap IS adjustable. There is a stretchy pocket on your left shoulder which is too small for my sun glasses but would fit an ipod or cell phone nicely. Two elastic bands cross the shoulder straps as well...I guess you could clip your keys here or loop sunglasses under them. Back panel feels nice with its contoured mesh fabric. The hip belt is basically worthless, it's thin and cheap and would offer no support for the pack at all...I removed them completely. Compression straps at the sides and bottom, which I find extremely useful. The side straps are attached to some funky rubberized material, I wonder when/if it will rip.

from Southern Maryland Overall Rating:
I love this bag. I got it in the deep gray color. The outside has a pocket with a smaller pocket inside which keeps my keys and cell phone safe from falling out. It holds a ton. I can fit all my essentials, a bottle of water, a hardback book, snacks, and more. The bag is lightweight so it is not too heavy to carry when filled to the brim. Additionally, the shoulder strap is LONG, so that it falls to the hip. The strap is adjustable. All in all, this is my favorite go-to bag when I am not carrying a more formal pocketbook.

I bought this to avoid the rain when I ride my bike to class and it works well for that purpose. I wish it had a zip style closure insure of a flap, but I guess the flap is what helps it be rainproof! Its just hard to get into without setting the pack down. Size for carrying folder and stuff to class is not too big, not too small. The water-bottle pocket is best with a short water bottle, a tall one may fall out.

I just got this backpack in black and white to replace my old JanSport and Im loving it. It stands very sturdy on my back, even though it is very heavy, so it doesnt hurt my back. And the plaid black and white looks very cool.

Great bag for my son to travel with - he is 6 and able to pull it by himself through the airport. It is the perfect size for an overhead carry-on, but he can detach the backpack so he can pack all of his toys, books, etc... and have easy access. The color is good for camouflaging dirt as it gets dragged around.

from Portland, OR Overall Rating:
I got many compliments on the style of this bag, and it is well-made and spacious. However, it's not made for biking. The strap is much too long, even at its shortest adjustment, and the plastic strap hinges dig into your hips while riding. Also, the material picks up fabric dye where you sweat, so my bag was discolored on the back after a couple rides. No big deal looks-wise, although a bicyclist is better off with a bag that has a breathable back panel for comfort. I will be getting a Seal Line or Patagonia bag from Zappos for biking. But this bag is very waterproof and a good alternative to expensive Frietag bags (although those are made from recycled materials, as are Patagonia's bags).

I was looking for a bag for my laptop that was easy on the shoulders and had pockets for everything and this one was it! I love the extras, like for your sunglasses, the side water bottle feature, and the different pockets in front for all your stuff. The only thing I would change is I'm used to having two zippers per pocket so you're forced to all the way open and close to get things in and out of the front pockets. BUT, it does keep it more safe and looks sleeker without all the zippers hanging around. The main pocket where you put your computer does have two zippers and that's where it counts the most. I have a 15" Mac and it just fits into the provided sleeve in the backpack. Love it!

from Morristown, NJ Overall Rating:
I was honestly very unhappy with the quality of this bag. Threads were hanging everywhere, the zipper was not smooth at all, and the plastic that the bag was made of just felt incredibly cheap. I own another Fred Perry overnight bag that Zappos sells and that one is incredible. Even though the material is plastic it still feels almost like leather. In addition, the bag is a lot lighter than the pictures would have you believe. It's almost like a light grey as opposed to a darker greyish black. A lot of people will buy anything FP just because of the logo, but overall this bag just isn't worth anywhere near its price.

I bought this bag in gray to use as a purse/carry on for a trip and havent stopped using it since! Its big enough to keep all of my things in without being bulky. It is even big enough to throw in granola bars, cds, or whatever else I need to bring with me. I love it!

I love this bag! It holds everything perfectly. Normally I have the problem of locating my keys in big bags or in bags that are too small. Either I have to unload everything or dig around for 5 minutes. This bag is the perfect size and everything has a place. The quality is really good and the bag is holding up great after using it for a month now. I like that it is made with recycled materials and I get tons of compliments on it.

It's great! I love the color and it will definitely hold all of my stuff. My only problem with it is how tall it is. I am 52 so the bag looks really big on my back and the bag itself stretches the entire length of my back.

Overall it's a good pack. It's a little stiff at first but now it's breaking in nicely. The only thing I wish is that one of the side pockets was open so I could easily get a water bottle in and out. Having one large main compartment is great because you can fit just about anything in it.

This little backpack has turned out to be more than I expected. I'm only 5'3" so my choices are very limited. I'm a student and I have a weak back so the waist strap has been perfect to take the weight of big text books off of my shoulders. It holds about three big books with room at the top for a small purse. There are so many pockets which makes it easy to organize all the supplies I carry. It's the perfect small figure bag!

I was searching for a gym bag that wasnt the all-too-common Nike and Adidas bags that you see everyday, and I found and ordered this one. If you are looking for a unique and stylish (but practical) looking bag for the gym or overnight excursion, this is a great bag. The quality is also good; you will not be disappointed.

This summer, my apartment is a hike away from campus, so I needed to take a lot more with me for the day than usual! I wanted something bigger than my backpack, and my other Dakine bag, the Valet. So I decided on this! It has lots of pockets, a nice place for my laptop. One of the pockets is insulated like a lunchbox! I can take all my subjects for the day, my laptop, and a snack and fit it all comfortably in this bag. There have been times the backpack hurts, like in the area around my armpit, but I think it's just muscles working. Its my first time carrying a backpack in a long time! I recommend this backpack, especially to the college student with lots of textbooks to study during finals.

Brought this bag to the Caribbean islands so that we can hang out on the beach without having to worry about our money left alone at our beach chair. We just looped it around the beach chair and secured it and it kept a lot of sand out of our electronics. It's great and very secure, there is no way anyone can mess with your stuff if your valuables are secured inside of it. We also used it in our hotel room if we ran out of space in the safe.

 ASICS ASICS® Sling Bag | ASICS ASICS® Sling Bag 2009-06-04 08:21:44
Reviewer:Anonymous
from Okinawa Overall Rating:
Nice size bag with a wide bottom - which is an issue for a sling bag. Since a sling has only one strap, it is best to have a narrow bag to maintain balance of the bag. A wide bottom bag tends to cause the sling to slide off of the shoulder. Additionally, this bag has a pocket on the side opposite the sling which tends to rub against the inside of the arm during movement.

This bag ROCKS! I had been looking for a new bag for a while when I looked on Zappos for Keen bags. Ive been a huge fan of Keen boots for a long time and didnt realize that Keen made bags. It fits well on my back whilst walking in stride, and balances well. I would say the bag not only looks good, but works better in function. In short, a HIGHLY recommended bag for everyday & traveling purposes.
