The color Gargoyle is a new one to me, but is a pleasant soft silver. This garment is feather light and not at all bulky. I often wear it under my leather jacket while riding my motorcycle in 40 degree weather. I also wear it as an outer jacket. It is highly recommended.

This is my new favorite winter jacket. I love that while it's a 'puffy' jacket, it smushes down to nothing for easy packing and transporting. It is warm, soft, and very comfortable. I could literally sleep in this jacket if I could.

I just purchased this jacket in black (to my eye it's really more of a very dark charcoal gray, which looks great) and love it. It's a great alternative to the North Face Thunder jacket and the Patagonia Down Sweater at a much better price point. I've owned 2 other Marmot jackets in the past and both were top-notch when it came to quality, but without high price tag you pay with the North Face name. Overall, the jacket fits great. I'm 6'1 and weigh 180lbs and the medium was cut perfectly for me, but it's definitely a more 'fitted' cut, not super bulky like the Mountain Guide or Nuptse jackets. If you're looking to layer thick sweaters or a fleece underneath, you might want to size up. The jacket is super light and surprisingly warm for how non-bulky it is. It does lack a few nice details like fleece lined collar and pockets, but that's done to keep the weight down. Very pleased with my purchase and would definitely buy it again.
Brands I'd also recommend: North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia

Brand name be damned. This is the flimsiest thing I have ever seen. My 20 year old son asked for this and I am 2 seconds away from snatching it out of his closet. Not worth the price at all!

About Marmot
Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.
During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.
Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.

I bought this for my brother and he loves it! He said the color was beautiful and the jacket is so light and warm. He lives in Massachusetts and the winters are cold. I also bought him the Denali fleece from North Face to go under it. Perfect!

I bought this jacket as a birthday present for my 19 year old son. I was looking for a down jacket that was lightweight and not puffy looking. This jacket was just what I was hoping for. The thing we thought coolest of all was how the pocket becomes a sack in which to stuff the jacket. It's totally awesome!

Very flimsy fabric - get soiled/damaged easily. Filling comes out of the seams.

Nice coat. My son loves it and likes that it packs down to a small pouch. My only criticism is that the shell is a bit thin and prone to tears for rambunctious boys. He tore it in the first week pulling it out of a locker where I'm sure it snagged an edge.

Very light, well made. Beware it's very light the fabric therefore it tends to loose goose everywhere (not much though) and you must be careful wearing it.

Looks great. Nice and light. Stylish. Runs a bit small. My husband is a small medium and it fits just right with a sweater. Very happy. But too bad it doesn't come with a zip off hood.
