Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.
During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.
Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.

I loved this jacket, it's just what I wanted, color and all. But for an "apple" shaped, plus sized person, it is a bad fit. I could zip it closed, but I filled it up completely! I often buy size 1x jackets, so I was kind of shocked that this size 2x was too small.

This waterproof jacket is super lightweight and still very durable. I am 5'2" 100lbs, and I purchased the XS. It's a little big but fits better than the REI brand XS. Allows room to wear a sweatshirt underneath, but it's not too bulky without one. I purchased this for a backpacking trip in Thailand, and you can actually pack/shove the entire jacket into one of its own pockets for easy storage. I would definitely recommend this to people looking for a light, high quality waterproof jacket.
I'd also recommend: REI, North Face

Flattering, bold and beautiful rain jacket! I love that this jacket has a feminine shape. I also like how the pockets have a velcro seam over them. The shape is much for attractive than other jackets I have had in the past. I am 5 ft 8 in, 32 in bust, 26 in waist and 37 in hips and 133 lbs. I purchased the medium and it is a perfect fit for layering. The Reef is a gorgeous blue/green! It matches my viridian green North Face fleece and softshell perfectly! I plan on wearing this jacket on an Alaskan cruise, can't wait for rain!

Love the color, fit (I ordered medium and I am a petite small framed woman), and features of this rain jacket. It is a dark enough purple to match (two toned purple is the one I chose) everything mostly, interior mesh pockets, adjustable cuffs, zipper enclosed pockets with velcro storm protection as well as a frontal zip enclosure with velcro tabs. It is not too long - the perfect length, and I can easily layer a t-shirt and pullover sweatshirt under it without feeling constricted. It is not too baggy with just one layer either. Love this jacket. It is really worth the money.
I'd also recommend: Columbia, Teva

I bought this jacket several years ago from another retailer in a tangerine color for hiking and really liked it. But I wanted a more neutral color for more versatility when traveling. So when I saw the Turtle Dove color (ivory) on Zappos I ordered. I am a size 2-4 and normally wear an extra small, but this jacket runs small so the small size was perfect. Packs well for traveling when you want a lightweight hooded rain jacket/windbreaker that doesn’t take up much room in bag. Fits in fanny pack for hiking. Very pleased.
