In 1862, Kaspar Tanner, laid the foundations of the Mammut company with the establishment of his traditional ropeworks in Switzerland. Originally used for agricultural purposes, Mammut evolved further, creating the first synthetic ropes for mountaineering and outdoor pursuits. Today, Mammut offers alpinists, skiers and climbers top quality equipment and apparel for men and women that reflect the company’s dedication to making innovative gear that will not fail in even the most unforgiving of environments.
Because rock climbing has developed into an all-season sport, Mammut offers all-season climbing apparel. More and more rock climbers are gravitating out of the enclosed gym in the winter and venturing into the great outdoors. Mammut incorporates Dri-Release® and Freshguard® technologies into their climbing apparel, making them able to provide comfortable, moisture-wicking pieces that are ready to perform with you, not against you.
Alpinists alike agree that Mammut provides the best absolute alpine apparel, utilizing breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex®, abrasion-resistant, and hybrid technologies to keep you warm and protected throughout your adventure. Mammut hybrid jackets use schoeller® Soft Shell™ with Nano-Sphere® or 3XDRY® where the garment is close to the body and maximum breathability is most important. Breathable, completely waterproof 3L DRYtech® material is also placed in weather-critical locations such as the hood, shoulder and arms providing maximum protection from wind, rain and snow.
Although Mammut provides top quality equipment for men, they realize that women are different and that female circulation functions quite differently with more sensitivity to the cold. Because of this, they have developed a completely unique women’s collection for mountaineering, snow, and climbing that is unique in its materials as well as in cut and design. Mammut utilizes comfort mapping technology by strategically placing high-quality Gore-tex® fabric, with waffle fleece inside, offering reliable protection of the cold-sensitive body zones while providing the best in all-around comfort. Points and zippers are also covered to prevent long hair from getting tangled or caught. In addition, practical pockets for essential items are not placed across the chest, but within easy arm reach.
For over 146 years, the Mammut brand has stood for superior innovation, absolute quality, and second-to-none customer service. With their promise of “Absolute Alpine,” Mammut is able to unite design and function to bring the finest ropes, hardware, and technical outerwear to meet the highest demands of mountain athletes the world over.

This device is awesome! Super easy to use and very lightweight. I bought it for extra security while lead belaying or if someone new is belaying me. This does an awesome job at locking off. It really shines if you're belaying someone who is hangdogging a climb. I would not say this is an auto locking device. I would more call it an auto assist. The value is amazing compared to a GriGri. I am happy to have this in my kit!

When I fist bought this I was surprised how it worked. It is just so nice. It auto-assist like a Gri Gri but not with all the weight It easy to clip into very easy to learn. I love it. It also has a new style of lowering and the lowering takes most of the work out if your hand, causing you not even to hold the rope while lowering (that is not recommenced).
