This is my second time purchasing this shoe by Macbeth. If you're looking for the simple style of an understated "Chuck" by Converse but can't stand the months of breaking it in, this is the shoe for you. The sole has a moderate arch for those who aren't flat footed, so comfort is immediate. The lining is thicker than that of a Chuck or even the Macbeth Elliots, so your feet wont freeze in the cold. I usually wear a 10 in other shoes, but for Macbeth its usually a 9.5, so they run a little big. My older shoes I'm replacing have stayed together very well, the inner lining in the heel was the first to wear out, but the shoe is still comfortable and the outer lining is dirty, but perfect condition. All in all, my go to shoe, highly recommended.

I purchased these as a gift for my boyfriend. I ordered a 10, a 10½ and an 11 so he could choose the size that fit best. He ended up going with the 10½ so I would say these fit true to size. They look amazing on him and he loves them. He says they have a lot better support than his Converse, but still have that same slim look to them.

Shoe was everything I had expected comfortable, breaks in rather quick. The only problem is that the white torn edges do tend to dirty kinda quick but a simple wash and they are as good as new.

The shoe does seem to be narrow compared to most shoes which worked great for me because I have large but very narrow feet. Love the shoes and I'm going to order another style from Macbeth. The quality seems to be very good as well.

About Macbeth
Macbeth Vegan. In addition to Macbeth´s music-inspired products, Macbeth is also known for its support of the vegan community. From its inception, Macbeth took inspiration from its family of vegan artists like Bane, Alkaline Trio, American Nightmare, H20, and Sick Of It All and created modern sneakers that contain only vegan materials. Many of these bands were strict advocates for straight edge ideals, which often involved the elimination of using or consuming animal products of any kind. In natural succession, Macbeth's first ever shoe, the Eliot, launched in November of 2002 as a Vegan design. Macbeth continues to produce creative vegan footwear, and in 2007 Macbeth won "Best Vegan Skate Shoe" from Peta.

I have had these shoes for just over a month and they have been great. I have high arches and bought them knowing they were essentially flats. Thankfully my custom inserts fit in these shoes and make them fit like my feet. I walk or bike 2 miles to my college campus every day and have not had any structural issues with these shoes. Only downside, they don't breathe well and my feet sweat.

I was looking for a shoe that had the same styling as Chuck Taylor, but more with more arch support and something that I can wear in the winter. I have a pair of PF Flyers, but the canvas shoes are not my ideal for shoe for cold weather. Enter the Macbeth Matthew. This shoe had the arch support I was looking for as well as the Chuck Taylor style. The leather/suede and canvas combo allow my feet to breathe and to stay relatively warm in cold weather. I really like these shoes.

Zappos has great customer service - In the past, I have ordered from zappos and I have never regretted my decision. Not only do they have free shipping, but they always send my order faster than they originally promised. My order has come as fast as only two days! My products are never defective and are always exactly they way I expected.

PROS: -Environmentally friendly company. - Great looking shoe. - Good build quality. CONS: Comfort - I would not say that I have particularly wide feet, however with these shoes I do feel a lot of pressure near my toes (like the shoe is squeezing them together).

Shoes look awesome, but fit very slim. I have a narrow foot and these felt incredibly uncomfortable when I initially put them on. I am still debating if they look better with the default black laces or white ones...hmm.

I bought these at a Journey\'s store, I have worn them for a few months and the heel is already worn out. So durability wise not very, but the outside isn\'t worn at all, and they are very comfortable despite the squeak sound when I walk because of the rubber backing in the heel against my sock.

I buy them because I think they are styling. Like all shoes, especially canvas they'll need to be broken in and stretched out. I order my canvas shoes to fit just right with no extra room. This makes the breaking in process especially painful and leaves me wondering what the deal is. I don't think I have especially wide feet but of the two pairs of Macbeth shoes I've tried I always experience significant discomfort around the sides of my feet close to the pinkie toe. My shoes have pretty much broken in at this point and are mostly comfy. I feel like they last as long as you should expect a shoe in that price range to last. You should get at least a good six months of continual wear out of them if not longer.

I like these shoes but for the first 2-3 weeks I had them they were noisy! Every step I took sounded like I was walking through a swampy bog. Eventually the material inside the shoe that meets the back of my heel ripped and they've been quiet ever since. The shoes are very comfortable, and look good, but are warmer than I hoped this canvas shoe would be. Would be a good cool/cold weather shoe as long as you're not trudging through snow or rain. Seems to be holding up very well (save the material inside the heel) after about 3-4 weeks of use.
Brands I'd also recommend: Simple, ONITSUKA TIGER, `es

Great looking shoes, but were horribly uncomfortable for a while. They are still uncomfortable after a couple weeks, but not as bad. A lot of pain in the very stiff heel of these shoes, and some pain on the sides of my foot due to them being narrow. They feel about a half size smaller than they should be also. They look great, but are the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever owned. They are slowly getting better.

These shoes fit great, but I found them to be extremely stuffy and NOT breathable. I find that even after about 30 minutes of wearing them that my feet are sweaty and uncomfortable. I was trying to find something close in style to my (now discontinued :( ) Simple brand Car Tyre shoes, and thought that I had found the ticket. These shoes look rad and I like Macbeths values as a company, but I was let down by the breathability of these shoes. To me, the best part of new shoes is putting on brand new socks with the new shoes that are clean, dry, and soft for at least a few months of the wet seattle weather. I was so bummed! Guess I'll keep looking until I can afford different ones.

They were OK, but I thought they would be way better. They felt very narrow and they were extremely stiff. The heels would rub on the back to where I couldn't wear them after 10 minutes. Nice look, but terrible feel.
