I tried six pairs of Fryes before I just gave up with the riding boot quest and went back to the brand that fits: Lucchese. This is my fourth pair. It is important to know that Lucchese has different lines. Spirit is their more whimsical line. They have Classics for the tougher working cowboy boot. So, know these are meant to be more fun, they are just that. I love the embossing design and it is very cool how the wear brings bends that show some lighter color to bring it to life and blend with the embossing. The overall shoe is not as bright in color as this picture makes it appear. I would say more a middle brown to light chocolate. There is no support in the shoe, but there never is in Lucchese. The classics, the finest line, aren't event lined in the footbed. These are lined but flat. I put in my drug store orthotics and they are perfect. They go over skinny jeans perfectly. Frye was always too tight in the leg. I like how the back is lower than the front so I can bend my knee easily. The side zip is great so I can give my jeans a tug after putting on my boots. They look nice under straight leg jeans too. I wear 6½ in dress shoes but always buy a 7 in boots and these are no exception. They are perfect. These will just be prettier over time.

One sentence says it: Made in China. This boot fails - a true first for me and Lucchese. It offers neither the quality or fit I have come to expect and love in the Lucchese brand. The boot is sloppy over the instep, my heel slipped almost completely out with a step, and there is no arch support. Add to this the presence of a chemical process smell that I have noted in Chinese manufactured shoes in other stores, formaldehyde comes to mind. If this is what is to come, I will simply re-sole and care for my current inventory of beloved "made in the USA" Lucchese boots. I do not want to pay Lucchese prices for the issues and quality I repeatedly note with "made in China" products. If this is the direction the company is moving, I will be forced end my relationship with this manufacturer.

I wore these to my Montana wedding. They were a beautiful accent to my lace and tulle gown. I saved them to wear for the first time on my wedding and and I was a little nervous about wearing them for the first time all day long, but couldn't have asked for a more comfort. They got me from 10:00am when pictures started, through the ceremony, first dance, and being constantly on my feet mingling through the reception and dancing, and no sore feet. I sill wear them on a regular basis, and get compliments on them every time. They're so comfy, and versatile. I can pair them with a skirt, or leggings and a flowy top.

I really love these boots but they were way to big so I sent them back and reordered smaller size.

First, the "most helpful review" states these boots are made in China. The ones I received were made in Brazil (stamped inside the boot on the shaft along with the size, etc.) and they had no chemical smell. They smelled like leather. The craftsmanship seems on par with other Lucchese boots. As others noted, this boot runs big. I normally wear a 10 in boots, so ordered a 9.5. They were still a little big. My biggest disappointment was the color. They aren't as reddish/orange in person. Just a regular brown color. I was hoping for a more "sienna" color. Due to fit and color, they are being returned, but they are very nice boots.

I'd also recommend: Frye
