I absolutely love these boots! This is actually my second pair of Trekkers. I had a foot injury, had to get orthodics, so I had to get a larger size. I do not really do a lot of hard core hiking, but I wear my boots most days that there is snow on the ground. I live in Breckenridge, Colorado, so that is a lot of days. I had my last pair for over six years, and they really did not ever wear down. These boots are super comfortable, with virtually no break in period. I had a pair of Vasque Sundowners before, and they never really broke in or fit as well as these. The only negative that I can say is that they are a little heavy. They may seem expensive, but in my opinion are well worth it!

I've enjoyed my Trekkers while they lasted. They were comfortable and kept my feet dry. Unfortunately, the underlying rubber has begun deteriorating.

I've had these wonderful boots for two years; they can be used for many purposes other than "trekking" in Nepal if, e.g., you have a history of injuries or you have narrow, low-volume feet like me, or just like "overbooting" yourself for general hiking on rough trails, etc., but probably not heavy loaded backpacking because they have a fairly large amount of forefoot flex. Also, they're not for extremely wet environments, no matter how much waterproofing you do on their many, many seams. I met a very unhappy guy in the Oslo airport this past summer who had been hiking in boggy conditions above the Arctic Circle and he complained bitterly about his Lowa Trekkers leaking like a sieve despite all the applied beeswax (he was wearing them when I talked to him). These boots are ideal for something like trekking the High Sierra in Yosemite in summer, where it's often rough and steep and hot but unlikely to be very wet. You can waterproof them to repel dry snow. I wear these boots in places lots of people can get away with hiking in running shoes -- it just depends on your feet and need for support. (I'm 6'5" and 240 lbs., my Lowa Trekkers are size 14 (48 1/2) Narrow, with full length aftermarket arch supports placed under the stock insoles.) These boots come in a narrow width, which is increasingly difficult to find for men's specialized footwear. Due to the incredible shrinking last sizes over the past 40 years, what is considered 14 in the year 2015 used to be a solid 13, as it still is with the premium legacy made-in-America brands like Alden and Frye. (If you're under 50, you wouldn't know or care about this!) As others have noted, the buttery leather lining is awesome, the ventilation system is a great feature, and the tongue rivet is brilliant. Lateral support is excellent, but as noted, these are not true backpacking boots unless you're carrying a light load (trekking) or have bombproof feet, due to the substantial forefoot flex, which could cause metatarsal stress for some people in rough country. Also, these boots weigh a lot, comparatively; that weight can add up to fatigue. If you need to wear crampons or carry heavy loads, Lowa makes boots for that, and if you need very water resistant boots, some of the seamless-upper boots are a better bet.

About to purchase my second pair of Lowa Trekkers. First pair purchased in 07, prior to Alaska trip. My friend who lives there is a hardcore outdoorsman, so I knew this required serious footwear. I was not disappointed on any hike, in various conditions: steeps, rain, snow, cold, mud, scree or flat rock. Once returning to the lower 48, essentially wore them every day for 3 seasons to work, motorcycling, light hiking, general use. Great support for bad ankle. Only now starting to show age/wear, with sole slightly less thick and first cracks - 7 years later. Best boots I've ever owned. Worth the money; highly recommend.

I'd also recommend: Keen - but not nearly as durable

Nice, very nice. They should be for this price. Well made, fit per size, maybe a bit too much room up and down in the toes area, but that leaves from for thick socks, etc. Great boot, fits and works well. My only qualification for this extensive review is that I have feet, and own these boots. ;-)

I'd also recommend: cant say..

I have 4E foot and it is too narrow. Also, foot bed is too stiff. I like some stiffness for hiking but this was too much. Bottom of feet hurt badly at end of day. If they could fix these issues, it would be a buy. The boot has outstanding construction and material quality.
