I've enjoyed my Trekkers while they lasted. They were comfortable and kept my feet dry. Unfortunately, the underlying rubber has begun deteriorating.

Hands Down Best Boot - These are comfortable right out of the box. They have a nice fit in the heel and arch and leave room for the toes. Cinch them up tight under a load and you will not blister. Mine saw extreme duty in the desert southwest in 100-120 degree heat and the rainy season in Montana. They are not waterproof, but shed water well and dry out quickly. Best of all they breathe. If your feet sweat, give them any pair of Lowa boots and you will never regret it. This boot has a slight rocker in the sole which I found comfortable on long hikes. It is not the toughest boot out there, but surely the most comfortable. Expect somewhere between 2 & 3 seasons of hard back country travel out of these. Oh, did I say impeccable fit!

Runs nearly a full size big - The fit and finish of this boot is excellent, and once you experience the leather lining you will never look back. Be aware that this boot runs big in both size and width by nearly a full size. Also, it is a sturdy boot and some may find it stiff. The heel is slightly raised which may also be a problem for some.

Excellent boots for supported hiking- These boots are for "Trekking", meaning that they are stiffer than "regular" hiking boots, but more flexible than backpacking boots. Some people might refer to these as "Rough Trail" boots. Excellent boots, great for heavier folks that don’t want backpacking boots. Also great for those who backpack, but don’t like inflexible boots. They are true to size and constructed well, however, there is a great deal of exposed stitching. Also, the gusseting is really minimal, so expect debris to get in if you're not wearing pants or gaiters. If these two factors bother you, seek out the Lowa Terrano. If you want these boots to be water resistant, you MUST NIKWAX THEM... Due to the large amount of exposed seams (and no Gore-Tex), I would Nikwax them twice. The climate control feature really works, and the leather lining helps to keep your feet cool and dry in hot climates, unlike Gore-Tex liners. These are excellent boots, but they only receive 4 stars due to stitching and minimal gusseting. Which is apparently corrected in the Lowa Terrano.

Excellent! I'm a woman with big feet - this boot fits perfectly! Between Renegade and Banff in sole stiffness, this boot is perfect. Carried 40 pound pack for 10 miles, not even a hint of a blister (two pair of socks). The soles of my feet get sore in other boots under the same conditions, but not this one. It is a wonderful boot.

Good, solid boot. I've been pleased with these so far for hiking and low to moderate weight backpacking (haven't tried them with a really heavy pack to date). Having read other reviews of them I ordered these a size smaller than I normally wear in shoes, and doing so seems to have been the way to go, as they fit perfectly.

Hope Lowa keeps these going - I've just worn out a pair of these after about 3 years of occasional use. As another reviewer indicated, you need to waterproof them. I didn't keep mine very clean, so there was irregular shrinkage of the leather, hence the stitching and other elements began to go. However, they were certainly the best boots I've ever owned. No blisters with only a brief break in time. (I did use a supplemental inset, rather than the one provided by Lowa.)I used these boots on trail and off, in some of the roughest loose rock and ledges, sandstone, broken limestone, plants with spines like needles, you name it, and I always felt protected and supported. But now it seems they don't have my size - blast it.

GREAT BOOT!!! A friend recommended LOWA to me a few years ago, (he just got his third pair), now that I have a pair I’ll never go back, incredibly comfortable, I work for a national delivery company and am on my feet all day, & good footwear is very important, just as comfortable at the end of the day as when I put them on.

Best Ever! I have worn loads of boots and shoes over the last 12 years running trails and hiking 14ers. The Trekker is now my favorite. It is like a protective grippy high-top leather sneaker. It took a while for me to break in, I've got really tender feet and I wear a custom orthotic, but now it is my most comfortable footwear. Not just the best boot, but the best thing on my feet period. I'm on my feet all day at work and I wear them regularly. I use a thick SmartWool sock and my feet stay perfectly comfortable, not hot. If they fit you, I think they'll be a favorite.

I did a lot of research before settling on these and I have to say that it was well worth the time. These boots are amazing. They are weighty but don't drag you down. That weight is important because if you've got 40 pounds on your back you need lots of support and these things give it. There may be a lot of sore things after a good backcountry hiking trip but with these, your knees and ankles and feet will not be have even noticed. I used NikWax to waterproof the leather and have splashed through creeks and mudholes and been rained on all day; my feet never knew any water. One important note, these boots are made for walking. When you get to camp, you're going to need another pair of shoes or sandals for lounging around the tent and fire. But that's okay because they will have done their job and you'll be grateful. The price may seem high but these are not a purchase. They are an investment. Good gear. Seriously.

Amazing fit and comfort. I have a size 13B low-volume foot but with fairly square toe shape so I want/need a lot of room in the toe box. It's difficult for me to find shoes/boots that fit properly. Italian-made boots tend to pinch my toes. This boot is made in Germany and in 13D felt great from the first fitting...lots of room in the toe box but more of a low-medium volume boot overall (with Powerstep or Superfeet insole and medium weight hiking socks) so it didn't slip at the heel either. The leather lining is buttery soft and definitely lets the boot breathe. The bonus is it will conform to your foot shape as you break-in the boot and is noticeably cooler than a Gore-Tex lined boot, so only more comfortable over time. Easy to adjust the lace tension for the foot and ankle separately. Keep in mind this boot is probably a full 7-8 inches high on the ankle so is higher than some other trekking/backpacking boots but has outstanding support.

I absolutely love these boots! This is actually my second pair of Trekkers. I had a foot injury, had to get orthodics, so I had to get a larger size. I do not really do a lot of hard core hiking, but I wear my boots most days that there is snow on the ground. I live in Breckenridge, Colorado, so that is a lot of days. I had my last pair for over six years, and they really did not ever wear down. These boots are super comfortable, with virtually no break in period. I had a pair of Vasque Sundowners before, and they never really broke in or fit as well as these. The only negative that I can say is that they are a little heavy. They may seem expensive, but in my opinion are well worth it!
