I have been looking at these boots for awhile now. Zappos had them on sale so I jumped on them. I have bad ankles and need a boot with good ankle support for hunting in the mountains. I also need a boot that is waterproof, durable, comfortable, quiet, and has great traction in all conditions. These boots meet all my requirements. I may put in some insoles with more cushion however. I was a little leery of the sole when I got them. I thought they may be too rugged and hard for good wet traction on rocks and also being quiet etc, but these soles are soft which provides great traction and are almost silent on hard surfaces. I normally would prefer a super-lightweight boot for bow hunting, but I will gladly trade a little extra weight for the ankle support and durability that these boots provide. For serious mountain hunting, I highly recommend these boots as well as Kenetreks.

These boots are ready to go out of the box. I'm loving the post on the upper tongue of the boot. It allows you to adjust the placement of the tongue and keeps it there. I've had a pair of Lowa Renegades that fit very well, but the tongue positioned itself pretty much where it wanted to as I used the boot. Not these boots. If you're looking for ankle support, these boots are the ones. Ankle support comes in a high boot that stops just below the calf and about 2 inches above the top of the ankle. I'm not worried romping through scree here in Mexico. The size fits perfect. For those of you that consider yourself a medium to wide foot though, I think it is a bit narrow. I have an "average" width and it feels just a little tight in wool socks. BUT, the upside to this is that it has no room to create hot spots or blisters. I also opted for my personal shoe inserts for optimum fit. I believe anyone buying this boot should do the same to get a more personal fit. If you're trying to decide between these boots and the Hunters let me give you this. If you're looking for insulated backpacking boots to keep your feet warm, go with the Hunters. If you're looking for a long range backpacking boot for spring to fall temps, even in AK, go with the Tibet Pro. This boot is for professionals.

I have a pair of these boots in the Combat Black and I liked them so much, the comfort and the roomy toe box plus the cushy leather collar. I felt I had to have a pair in the Sepia Brown. A better boot you would be hard pressed to find. I own over 100 pairs of Hiking/Trekking Boots and although I have osteoarthritis and cannot hike any longer, my boots make great everyday footwear especially in Winter. These boots are German made and are of the quality of such things as BMWs or Mercedes of which I also have knowledge of.

I have been looking for a solid pair of boots able to provide support with large backpacks and on rough ground. I also have wide feet (E width), which limits the potential choices a lot. I bought the Lowa Tibet Pro in a wide, and have been extremely happy with them. These boots have proven completely waterproof so far. The build quality and design appears to be to a very high standard.

These are the best boots I own, and I have several pairs. I'm a big guy and firefighter, I need a well made boot that can take a beating. short brake in period, and fits true to size. You will replace laces and insoles long before the boot wares out!

Without a doubt the best boot I have ever purchased. Bought for heavy duty backpacking and they worked great with pack weights of 80 lbs. Lightweight yet very strong side and foot bed support.

Nice boot, well constructed. Price is kind of up there but you get what you pay for. This boot is very supportive and your ankle won't bend much when cinched up tight. Made for carrying weight which was perfect for me. Just gave it 4 stars as far as comfort goes because it was very stiff to walk in. Might get a bit more comfortable as time goes on. All in all, satisfied with the purchase. Just wish price would have been a bit lower.

I've owned my Lowa Tibet Pro GTX boots since July 2009. Now that I've had a chance to hike about 100 miles in all 4 seasons, I thought a couple of comments may help you in your decision. Overall, I am very happy with the performance and construction of the boot. Truly a 4 season hiking / backpacking boot. When I purchased my Lowa Tibet Pro GTX, I was looking for something with pretty high ankle support. A year earlier, I rupture my achilles tendon. So, I was looking for some extra support while carrying a heavy backpack. Outstanding comfort and support. I love the wider and softer sole. My only other comparison is to my Asolo GTX (mids). The Asolo has a narrower and harder sole. In fact my Lowa is so comfortable, I've started to run in them on trails with my golden retriever. Very stable sole. The sizing seems true. Perhaps a bit on the narrrow side. I suspect the low profile Superfeet (blue) insoles I put in are taking up some of the volume. My feet sweat a lot. But, with the Lowas I've never had problems over heating in the summer or cooling down too much in the winter. Very breathable and waterproof. Even after 100 miles in snow and rocky trails in Yosemite, the boots look almost brand new. The boots will be stiff for a while until they break in. I highly recommend the Lowa Tibet Pro GTX to any avid hiker / backpacker. A truly comfortable 4 season backpacking boot. I look forward to many more miles exploring in my Lowas.

I have used many brands over the years, and most boots are garbage when you have to be on your feet, from climbing to working in all conditions, and need ankle support second to none and comfort second to none. If you wear boots daily to work in on various terrains and types of labor, then this is the king! Buy two pairs, use Spenco inserts and alternate the boots every day. These boot hold up as no other can! I have give away other boots after a week as they sucked and the were top rated too. It takes me about 18 to 24 months to wear them down including the lugs, but they do not come apart or do the inside liner around your toes wear out under long hours use. It could be clean wool socks and using a different pair every day or they are just the best! My feet and my ankle tells me these these are it. No I am not paid nor connected to this site or the boot maker.

My journey at Zappos started with a pair of Scarpas that I thought I just had to have. It's a beautiful boot if you have narrow feet - I don't. I was frustrated with a pair of boots that were not going to fit my feet. The solution to my problem started with a phone call to Zappos. I was immediately put at ease with help and assurance from the professionals at Zappos. I talked they listened. I asked for advice. A pair of "wide" Lowa Tibet Pro GTX's was suggested. My needs have been met. I now have what I wanted - a pair of boots that feel like an old pair of my favorite blue jeans. Yes, they are heavy - I needed heavy for durability and protection for spring, summer, fall, and winter hiking. I thank you Zappos for getting and keeping me on the trail.

Fantastic boot! I gulped at the price, but was pleased right out of the box. Great details, and superb workmanship. Mine have about 20 miles on them so far, and don't have a mark on them! I haven't had one hot spot or blister. I debated about going half a size bigger, but the 10.5 has settled in nicely. They feel like they were custom made for my foot. I have a medium arch. I love the lace system, and especially like the post on the tongue, that holds it exactly where you put it! No pinching around the ankle, the back is just soft enough to give when you need it. These will take you anywhere you want to go! They are sturdy, perfect for hiking with a heavy pack. These are an investment, but your trip won't be ruined because of your feet! Zappos is the best internet store in the world!

My double socked foot for hiking: 280mm long, 111mm wide, Euro size 44. Boot: US 10.5, Euro 44. Length okay, too narrow across my forefoot. One size chart said my foot was an E width, boot is a D. Little wiggle room for toes. Foot bed otherwise comfortable.
