A good medium duty boot - used most recently on a rocky, steep trail (12 miles RT - + 4300') - gave great support and twist protection, less good on shock absorption. Not for backpacking.
Brands I'd also recommend: Lowa make the last good boots left

An existing review said that these felt a half size smaller than marked, so I ordered a size 10.5 instead of my usual size 10. The advice was good. They fit me perfectly at size 10.5. I inserted a green Superfeet insole to get better than the moderate arch support they came with. They look great, too. I had a pair of Lowa Tempests 8 years ago and enjoyed them. I look forward to years of good service with these as everyday shoes...work, hiking, etc. I like the little more ankle support that these come with.

My husband loves these shoes. He's been a NB fan for ages, but the boots he had been wearing had increased in price were still made in China, and were actually of poor quality (one of the eyelets tore off the first day he had them). For a tad less money, these are far superior shoes. Not made in the US, but at least they aren't made in China. Plenty wide for him, and really durable (he works in construction and is on his feet all day).

A well constructed,supportive, quality shoe. A little stiff at first but breaks in nicely. Shoe runs narrow. I'm a 15 B,but the 15 medium fits perfectly.Toe box depth might be a little snug if you prefer a thick sock.

The Lowa boot is the best boot I have ever purchased in my lifetime, there is no break-in period, feels like you've had them for years off the shelf. I've had two pairs of the Templest2's mid height. Now I'm under the understanding they dont make them anymore. and I cant find them oh well.
