I bought these boots without any prior experience with the brand, based solely on reviews. Took it to Iceland on a 5-day trek through the mountains which included snow and ice walking, river crossings, mud, ash, dust, dirt. My feet stayed dry and comfortable the entire time. It turned out that there were a few other serious hikers with the same boots, too. No blisters at all. Steep uphills and downhills were no problem. Waterproofing was great. I wear a size 10.5 and have low arches, so it's difficult to find footwear. I highly recommend this boot. My friend's Keens were falling apart and leaking by the time we were done.

Had these boots for about 5 years. Mostly sitting in the closet. Maybe 50 miles on them, light hiking. Last week in Alaska, we were hiking to the Harding Icefield and the soles began to separate from the shoes. One of them to the point that the whole toe was flapping (creating quite a tripping hazard). Needless to say, our hike was ruined and the boots are only worth throwing away. If they were worn out, that's one thing, but to simply fall apart is entirely another.

Beware. Lowa sizing has changed in the US relative to the UK and Europe. Size 8 in the US used to correspond (in 2000) to UK 6.5 and EU 40. Now it corresponds to UK 6.0 and EU 39.5. I had to go up to size 9 US to get a boot with the same size shoe insert as I had with my size 8 Lowa boots from 2000. Other than that, the boots are great.

These boots are great! I have a very narrow foot (9 1/2 4A), so I bought a 9 N and they are perfect with a thick pair of socks. I wore them for 6 hours around the house the first day and they needed no break-in. I've worn them in the snow and they are warm and dry. Thanks!

These are the first boots EVER that have stayed on my narrow heel. They were very comfortable from day one. I went on a 6 mile hike and actually forgot I was wearing new boots! I plan to stay with this brand. It is SO hard to find narrow boots and boots that work with a narrow heel are even harder to find. So far, I am very pleased.

Best light hikers ever. I've had this boot for 17 years now. My first pair lasted 12 years, the second lasted 5 (only because I forgot them for a week in the rain). Very little has changed in the design all these years. The materials are a little different, and the ankle is a little stiffer to break in; but other than that, I live in these boots come October, and for any hiking. I call them my 'paws', and the kids make fun of me, and I don't care. I have narrow, flat feet and they fit perfectly (at a half size smaller than I usually wear). Thank you to Lowa for making this boot, thank you to Zappos for carrying it!
I'd also recommend: Asolo, if you want a boot with the same fit, but stiffer support.
