I'm thrilled in every way to have found this boot. It replaces two pair that are heavy, stiff, impossible to drive a car while wearing, and way too bulky to pack for travel. I agree that they run 1/2 size large. I usually wear a 7 1/2, and found that these fit perfectly in a 7, which Lowa calls a 38 in this case. There is ample toe room, and my heel is held well (no sliding up and down). The collar of the boot is well-padded, and the navy is nice and dark, so it looks almost black. The bonus is that my feet look very dainty in them, which is unusual for a boot like this. Bring on the winter slop. I'm ready! Thanks again Zappos!

I purchased these boots on the recommendation of a friend who trekked through Nepal in her Lowa boots and swears by them. Other reviewers kept saying how comfortable they were with no break-in period, & I found that to be true as well. I wore them virtually everyday of a recent Santa Fe vacation & my feet were in heaven during cold rainy days "hiking" around town & while climbing the Tent Peak Monument. I am not an experienced hiker & I was very pleased that I never felt that my footing was insecure. The Gore-Tex is very important to me since I will be wearing these all winter to walk my dog, & the secure tread design will be reassuring on wet & icy pavement. I usually wear an 8-8.5 Medium shoe/boot, and went with an 8.5 in these. I have a narrower foot, but can cinch the Medium for a comfortable fit (with mid-wt. wool socks) & have a roomy toe box. Love these boots! The Navy/Black is a classy look that doesn't scream Hiking Boot. Zappos service is amazing; had my boots in just over 24 hours & returns are credited quickly.

I do not hesitate ordering from Zappos because of the great return policy, free shipping, and very prompt service. I was hiking down the trails in my new boots within a few days of placing my order.

I absolutely love my boots! These were my first ever pair of hiking boots...so I dont have any personal comparison\'s....but I can say that from the moment I slipped them on, I didnt want to take them off. My husband and I hiked/camped for 3 days straight...and my feet never once got sore..or wet. I didn\'t have time to break them in, but they didnt need it. They were as comfortable as tennishoes, but kept my ankles supported and my feet dry. And an added bonus, they are super cute :) I would recommend them to anyone. \r\nAlso, I must say...I was VERY impressed with Zappos. I had never ordered from them before...and I definitely will again. Super quick shipping, and by far the lowest prices I found.

This boot has no break in period as most other boots have. Strap them up and head to the mountains or go on a leisurely walk, either way your feet will be glad for choosing this boot. They comfortably wrap around your foot because the eyelets are precision set in just the right spots for tight or loose tension. You'll be happy with this boot, and if not, well Zappos has 100% guarantee! They honestly do mean "shop with confidence!"

They are comfortable right out of the box. They run 1/2 a size large. You can work or hike in them all day and your feet feel great!

Great Fit. Despite other warnings (thank you!), this boot does not feel too long to me. "Narrow" width is still extra roomy.

Zappos is amazing. Boots arrived immediately. Fit great right out of the box. I found size to be true with heavy socks on. Have only trialed in house yet due to creasing at toes. Trying to decide if that is a problem. Otherwise, great fit, lightweight, and comfortable.

I needed a pair of boots that would be good to go without a break-in period. These fit the bill very well. They fit true to size: I wear a 10, bought a 10, and they fit. My feet and ankles are a bit swollen these days and I had trouble getting other boots on, but not these. I used an alternate lacing pattern--skipping the third-from-the-top eyelet--and the fit was secure but not uncomfortable. The top of the boot did press into my leg somewhat, since the inflexibility of the boot itself doesn't allow the foot itself to flex, so the flexion is transferred to the top of the boot where it meets the lower calf. This was noticeable but not uncomfortable. This is a cold-weather boot and I hike in temperate or hot climates, so didn't wear thick socks. The internal padding in the boot was sufficient cushioning, and the boots were not too hot on my feet. All in all, I expect these to be useful to me a long time. Appearance: thankfully free of visual noise, unlike other hiking boots, which tend to make one look like a Power Ranger.

This waterproof boot is fantastic, extremely comfortable, and good looking (I love them and have received many compliments as well from others). I hike in the Nature, rain or shine, with my dogs... and these boots have made it possible for me to stay out longer on rainy days so that my dogs, and myself, get a good amount of exercise... while these boots keep my feet dry as the dogs and I splash and play in the rain. I’ve recently bought my second pair of this exact boot to ensure more years of 100% satisfaction. Thank you, Zappos, for your excellent service as well!

These boots are awesome! I wore these boots for 10-16 hours a day right out of the box and they performed perfectly. The boots arrived the afternoon before I left on a trip to Thailand for 30 days. The work I was doing required a lot of walking on hot pavement and climbing on steep dam faces covered with large boulders. Each step felt sure. With these boots, I never got a blister or hot spot. My feet were comfortable. I have narrow feet and was particularly worried about whether the boots would work for me. They were a dream. I can’t wait to try hiking in them.

Great Fit for Narrow Feet - I have narrow feet, with a narrower heel; finding a good fit in a boot I can use for backpacking has always been a chore, and always required long, painful break-in periods. These boots felt like slippers on my feet, right out of the box! Having just bought them recently (mid-winter), I haven't put many miles, or hills on them yet; however, I have used them in the snow, with a 30lb pack. They feel better than any boot I have ever tried. I was a little concerned about the mid-cut height (I also have weak ankles) but had no problems in less than desirable trail conditions, with packed snow and ice. My (3) previous pairs of boots were all Vasque Sundowners. The Lowas are so much lighter, and no break-in; and, the cut is actually almost the same height as my Vasques.

Decent boots, however, found better ones. I've been searching for the perfect fitting hiking boot for me. I tried this one which initially was great, however, during the hike, even though my laces were tied as tight as possible, the leather on the boot seemed to be stretching out quickly and became loose on my foot. I wasn't wearing my regular mid-weight hiking socks at the time and I thought wow! If I had worn them these boots, they would have been stretched out way too much for me to use my regular socks again. Yes, they did fit perfectly before the hike. They ended up being too loose too quickly and didn't give me enough ankle and foot support.

Fab!!! These are the second pair of these I've bought. The first pair was lost - they don't wear out. They are great for any type of hiking from trails to simple walks. Lightweight and waterproof, they are comfy right away and require no breaking in. Go for it! You'll be very happy with these, and I'm hard to fit so if they work for me, they'll work for you.

Comfy! This boot only took one day to get used to. Was very comfortable right away. The sole is a little firm so for long hikes will probably need a cushioning insole, but overall very comfortable.

Oh my goodness, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these boots! I just recently got into wearing boots, but now I think I am hooked, lol. So cute and very comfortable. I used to live in France, and they remind me of the boots worn by women in Paris; they are so chic. 5 out of 5!

Excellent service and excellent product - I got on the list for a size that was out of stock and soon got an email that my size (8) was in. The boots shipped fast, fit perfectly, and are of excellent quality. Zappos is the best! This is my 3rd pair of these, and despite heavy use hiking through mud and steep rocky terrain they have never failed me. My original pair (8 yrs old) is still intact although the sole is worn smooth, and I still use them for brief muddy trail walks.

Very fine boot. I would not call this a day hiking boot, but it is light and comfortable enough that you could wear it for those uses. I use it for peak bagging and cross country travel through very rough stuff, loose rock, scrambling. I like it so much that I bought a second pair in case they stop making it before my first pair wears out. Great boot for narrow feet.

Lowa Renegade GTX Mid-Lady - My husband and I both bought a pair of these boots from Zappos. We are so pleased! We just completed a 54 mile, 6 day backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierra Nevada and had no problems. I have long, very narrow feet and it is very difficult to find a boot that fits. These boots were comfortable from the moment I walked the first mile. Be sure and buy a half to full size smaller than your shoe size. I wear a 9.5 narrow in regular shoes and 8.5 narrow in this hiking boot.

I love the look of this boot, but was worried about the fit because I wear an AA width and often with a "narrow" the heel is not and it slips. I decided to give it a try and I'm very happy with it. It fits fine with a thick sock and the heel doesn't slip. I'm very happy and exited because finding shoes in narrow is so hard. I ordered a half size smaller and it fits well. I highly recommend this boot!
