High quality, arch support - Very nice, very high quality leather backpacking boot without a lot of stitching (which leads to leaks and short lives). This boot felt great... except that my feet are flat and there is arch support in the boot that I couldn't work with. If you have a typical arch, they should work. Other backpacking boot brands don't have rubber in the pinky toe area, so your feet can break in a bit more. So beware if you think you might need the boot to relax there, it will not.
Brands I'd also recommend: Montrail GTX, any full leather upper backpacking boot (Gortex not needed in these!)

These felt sturdy and stiff out of the box like boots that will last. I read meters for a utility and love Timberland's comfort and durability, but have yet to find a pair that maintain water resistance against wet grass. So far these goretex lined boots have kept the feet dry. I will update this as time goes on. They feel like boots of top quality.

Thunder II GTX - Great fit and feel right out of the box. Break-in period was non-existent, as they provide excellent support both up and downhill on both moderate and sketchy terrain. Nice wide toe-box kept the feet comfy. This was the best value for a hiking/backpacking boot (quality and materials) at an excellent price when comparing it with similar boots. You won't be disappointed!
