This boot is awesome. It has a nice tight fit that really lets you use the stiffness of the sole. I find the build quality good, with only one reservation about the nylon eyelet midway on the boot. In the past with the Makalus, that was the first thing to break. This time, I'll keep them cleaner and hopefully decrease wear and tear. The gortex is great, if not a little hot in the summer time. I use this boot as a field boot.

Feel the love when you love the feel - I had tried on a few pair of La Sportiva boots in size 47 then blindly ordered these from Zappos in a 48. I threw some super feet in them and I have to say out of 5 pairs of mountaineering boots I own, this is my favorite pair hands down. They are a little heavy, but make up for it with the support. I LOOK for reasons to wear my black beauties... I've done over 15 miles in a day of climbing/hiking, with minimal foot discomfort, they performed amazingly.

Great boot for winter in the lower 48 - Typical La Sportiva: quality, fit, and durability. I wore them right out of the box with no problems. Very warm and supportive, but not a problem for the approach as they really hike well. I have found that Sportivas fit my foot type very well: narrow, low volume, so consider that when shopping. Two thumbs up for the Lhotse

Comfortable and sturdy boot - A full feature, four-season boot for the lower-48. If you wear La Sportiva Glaciers or Makalus, these should fit the same albeit with more eyelets for comfort and support around the ankle. The lower eyelets are articulated for ease of lacing. A steel full shank allows for frontpointing confidence while allowing enough rocker for comfortable walking. I've yet to wear these in cold weather, but these boots are as warm as a few double plastics I've tried. I'm very impressed with the look, quality of build, and feel of the Lhotse thus far. I will try and follow-up with a field review.

So yeah... Got these boots in March or so. Broke them in and used them on Rainier later during the year. Took them off after the climb to find that the top two pairs of rivets on one of the boots had rusted/corroded (this was pretty obvious, as it stained the sock quite well, its still rust colored). Took pictures of the defect and described in it an email to CR at Sportiva; was told it was cosmetic and to bring it to a cobbler. Took another (and somewhat angrier) email before they offered to swap. Got swapped for a new pair (-$20 in shipping costs, oh well). I used the second pair climbing Katahdin a few weeks ago; they performed well. Stiff enough to climb in, flex enough to hike in. Not as warm as double plastics I've used in the past however.

I have had these Boots for a few weeks and I am loving them. I am a hiker who likes to get to a few summits in the winter, safe and warm. Occasionally I have needed crampons. I have not yet been out in much below zero weather, but so far these boots have been warm and comfortable. The toe box, unlike other La Sportivas I have had, is not too narrow. They have a good arch support. They are not a double boot, but much more fun to hike in. The construction is as good as it gets.

If you make the mistake of buying mountaineering boots online, then these are the ones to get. They are tough as nails and fit better than my socks. For being waterproof and insulated they breathe quite well. These boots run a bit on the stiff side but an eight hour shift at work and 11 hours of glacier travel gave me not one blister. Black diamond sabertooth semi-autos fit great with this boot.

You will find a common thread among Lhotse Reviews, that these boot are bomb proof. Well they aren't kidding. I think if I stepped on a bomb, the only thing left would be my boots. This is as pristine as the day I bought 'em! Before receiving them, I was a little concerned that they might be too heavy as they are a little heavier than some other models but in actuality the extra weight is not even noticeable. Although, the boots are incredibly comfortable, I would really recommend that you still work them in before tackling anything substantial. These boots are a great fit for a narrower foot like mine. With their stealthy good looks and premium construction, the Lhotse is an excellent buy.

These have proven to be a great boot so far. Quite stiff at first, but starting to break-in. Excellent ankle and arch support. Thanks Zappos for the fast delivery and excellent service!

The most comfortable of the heavy duty backpacking boots I've ever worn. Crampons work well and are stable due to the stiff shanks. If you plan to wear thick wool socks over liners one should consider up-sizing. Normally I wear size 46 but I bought size 48 and the fit is perfect even with the thickest socks. This is not a hiking boot for day trips for that buy ASOLO 520s which are super comfortable right out of the box.
