Purchased this hoping it would make a good winter boot for trail running and light hiking. Got amazing reviews from Backpacker.com. I returned it because it was too small, but I can say that this is one heck of a shoe. Clearly, it's very well made. Personally, I think it's fairly ugly looking, but who cares; it's built like a tank and protects your feet from rocks, the elements, whatever. I'll be keeping an eye on this company in the future. Minor gripe: this is a fairly "stiff" shoe. Not quite hiking boot but not quite running shoe. I suppose that's a consequence of all the reinforced materials and sole.
Brands I'd also recommend: Salomon

I'm a runner, and I love to run off road, and occasionally I'm forced to run in the cold winters of New England. These sneakers are awesome! They tackle the snow like no other sneaker I've ever owned, and they will keep your feet dry! Very aggressive tread. This year has been one of our worst in decades, and these GTX's have surpassed my expectations!Quite possibly the best running sneaker that I've ever owned.

These are awsome. I run 40-60 trail miles/week, and have recently been running on intermitent snow and goopy mud. My feet stay dry and comfortable. I have a slightly wider foot and it took a couple runs to streatch out but now it feels great. I recomend this for anyone who spends time in the water, mud, or snow. I also wore them with my running snowshoes once and they were great there also. Give these a try if you love to get out when the trail says stay in.

A must-have shoe. Especially good for those who like excellent arch support but who want to feel they are connected to the ground. Better than any other brand for plantar fascia. Excellent for racing. I find myself using this shoe daily to walk my dog in the a.m. in wet fields and streets and it will keep you warm and dry. This is Spiderman meets Superman: excellent traction on slippery surfaces with lots of power. If you like dry feet, you will love this shoe.

Best thru-hiking shoe around. Completed the Colorado Trail through daily rain and mud without issue. Stayed dry and cool on the rare dry days as well and kept me dry on day long snow slogs. Great shoe with great traction.

Just FYI, it's a great shoe, but the 'upper' is not gortex lined. It is a mesh breathable and stretchy material, and the shoe itself is the same low cut runner. Just a pourous scree guard over it.

Outstanding shoe for running in snow or wet. It's sort of bizarre that no one came up with this design earlier. I've used it for playing other sports and found there's enough lateral support as well. Bizarre sizing though - very small. Probably best to order two sizes larger than you might normally.

Overall pretty happy with the shoe. I run a lot of trail miles and it has been a sloppy wet muddy winter. My Brooks Cascadias were constantly wet and cold. This is a great winter option. I really like them for what they are. I will not touch them in the summer, for winter only! They took a little bit to break in, which is odd for me. Had some blister problems early on my Achilles , duct tape solved those

I haven't gotten a chance to really wear these shoes on trails yet. Bought them for an upcoming backpacking trip to Yellowstone. Shoes run really small. I normally wear 10.5 or 11 and had to get a 12 in this shoe.
